Deo Plaza – Apartamenty Old Town by Rent like home Overview
When I first stumbled upon Deo Plaza – Apartamenty Old Town by Rent like home on a rainy Thursday in early October, I was already craving a cozy spot in Gdańsk’s historic heart. The building sits on Chmielna 10, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Motława River and a few minutes’ walk to the iconic St. Mary’s Church. I remember the first time I walked in, the air was cool, the lobby had that warm, almost nostalgic vibe—think reclaimed wood, soft lighting, and a faint scent of fresh coffee that made you feel instantly at home. The check‑in was quick; the front desk staff greeted me with a friendly nod and handed over a smart card that unlocked the door—no awkward key exchanges, just a smooth tap and you’re in. You know what? The staff were also super helpful, giving me a map of the Old Town streets, recommending the best local pierogi spot at Krowodrza Street, and even pointing out the hidden gem of a tiny bookshop on Młynowa.
After settling into the apartment, the real charm unfolded. The unit is a bright, airy space with a kitchenette that’s surprisingly well‑equipped—think a small induction hob, a French press, and a set of Polish ceramic mugs that look like they belong in a gallery. I spent the first evening scrolling through the local events calendar (there’s always a jazz night at the small club on Długa Street) and then headed out for a walk down Krasiński Square. The noise level is generally peaceful; only the occasional clatter from the nightlife on St. Mariacka Street creeps in if you’re in the apartment on a Saturday night. But honestly, the city’s hum—trams, footsteps, the occasional gull cry from the river—creates this comforting soundtrack that’s almost like a lullaby for city dwellers. Parking is a bit of a hunt; the nearest street parking on Chmielna is free but can be tight in the summer, so I parked in the small paid lot near the Gdańsk Main Market Square instead. The cost was reasonable, and the staff there were friendly, offering a quick overview of the parking rules.
What really sealed the deal for me was the sense of belonging. The apartment’s décor is a mix of modern minimalist touches and vintage Polish pieces—a reclaimed wooden desk, a set of embroidered cushions that look like they were made by a local family. The bathroom, though small, is spotless and features a rainfall shower that feels surprisingly luxurious. I spent a lazy Sunday morning sipping tea, watching the city’s life unfold outside the window: vendors setting up stalls on the Main Market, a street musician playing a melancholic waltz on a nearby corner. At 2 pm, the heat of the summer sun made the balcony feel like a tiny oasis—perfect for a quick nap or a cup of cold lemonade. And when the night fell, the soft glow of street lamps reflected off the brick walls, giving everything a soft, almost dreamlike quality. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk, especially during the bustling summer season or the chilly winter holidays, Deo Plaza – Apartamenty Old Town by Rent like home offers a genuine, comfortable base that feels like a second home—complete with the kind of local insider knowledge that makes all the difference.

Great location, close to everything. Very nice room with balcony in the afternoon sun.
What could be improved: The washing machine didn't work. I really needed that. A big disappointment. My score would have been 10 if the washing machine would have been functional. The staff promised to fix that but it never happened.Halina from United States – 4 October 2024 (8/10)
Location, balcony on river overlooking Old Town, comfortable beds
What could be improved: Maintenance not being kept up on our apartment: caulking on the bathroom floor tiles was chipped out with apparant water damage and swelling to the floor, the shower panel as well as the floor slant was insufficient to keep water from collecting all over the bathroom floor during a shower, doors to the kitchen sink were broken off, and the top of the sink cabinet was so short that by using the sink, my husband kept hitting the top of his head on it (and he is not a tall man), and some light bulbs were out and a battery in a clock was very corroded. We rented for 1 week for two people and received 3 small 1 ply rolls of toilet paper, 1 small roll of 1 ply paper towels, no kitchen towels, and a limited amount of towels. A notice said that should we request for more, we would be charged for this. There were not enough capsules of coffee for a week for two people, and only one bottle of soap gel which needed to be transferred back and forth from the bathroom sink to the shower.
Changing these practices would provide much more convenience to the renter as well as a much better impression of the company renting out the apartment, as renting out this apartment was expensive, yet the management cut back on items that would provide convenience and sufficient supplies to us.Kari from Finland – 2 September 2024 (9/10)
Location perfect, room clean and spacious.
What could be improved: The breakfast was organized in a near by restaurant. There were 4 plates where you could choose from, a cup of coffee and glass of juice included, that was it -extra cup of coffee was 3 euros! Selection limited and extra charges -not good!Julia from Poland – 19 August 2024 (6/10)
Obviously, the best thing about the property was the location and the view. The staff was also very nice.
What could be improved: The walls are very thin – we could hear the loud music being played by people staying in an apartment right next door. Also, every morning around 6 am someone was banging really loudly in an apartment above which made it difficult to sleep and rest. The apartment wasn’t really clean – the sheets were dirty and there was sand on the floor. The last thing was breakfasts – don’t be fooled, as the breakfast is not an usual buffet – you go to a Mon Balzac restaurant and you get to order one meal from a down-sized menu, which only had 5 different meals to choose from. The restaurant’s staff was also not very nice and the obviously treated everyone else who didn’t come from the hotel better – quicker service, better attitude. This experience was not at all pleasant and the only thing that saved it for us was the view from the window.Karin from Sweden – 23 July 2024 (9/10)
It was very good. Very nice location.
Ala from Poland – 15 October 2023 (8/10)
Clean room, view from Balcon
What could be improved: It was difficult To take a shower, because the water was blocked, and the floor was full of with water.
There was a ventilation noise in the room.Lapinskas from Lithuania – 27 August 2023 (9/10)
Everything was perfect. The hotel located in the centre, so you can reach any objects and buildings really quickly.
What could be improved: It is hard to find the parking, but that's all good. And when you arive in parking, you felling like you came to Sachara dessert. It is really hot inside.Indre from United Kingdom – 21 October 2022 (1/10)
only the location was a bonus however the rest of it was so bad that even location didn’t seem to do a favour
What could be improved: Firstly it was advertised as a hotel. and only when arrived there appeared that it is a hostel. meaning there is no cleaning or towell change or even bin emptied. If you wish that you pay for that extra. The room itself was super small like a box – definitely not a standard hotel room we are used to see. I traveled through the world and even in the poorest countries the room was normal size, not a half metre to walk around the bed.
we also found other guests who stayed before us hair in the corner at the shower, I guess the cleaner didn’t clean facilities properly.
The noice every morning was just another level. You can hear the neighbours even what are they talking plus two days in a row there were repair works going on since 8am so we were waken up because of that. When we gone downstairs to speak to reception nobody was there, as they only start at 9. Also they did not bother to investigate or even offer us a room change. I had to call Booking twice and chase is up. Ended up with nothing, they didn’t even respond to Booking agent. The worst experience I ever had. The worst is that they allowed to do this false advertising where is states that it is a hotel and the room is a standard size. The company doesn’t care about it is guest and customer service there doesn’t exist. also they charged us a deposit (for the damage) which was unusual as none of the hotels are doing that. Tells a lot. Thankfully we got it back, but know some guests didn’t. Wish I read the reviews on google before i booked here. They are not also the cheapest ones. I understand if I paid super cheap and this is what I can expect but the price was quite high knowing it is not a season too.Camilo from Angola – 22 August 2022 (8/10)

What could be improved: Trash disposal, cleaning facilitiesIzabela from Norway – 19 June 2022 (7/10)
Great location, everything you need is a walking distance away. Beautiful city, the amount of restaurants is impressive, and the attractions are right outside the door. Very nice hosts, communication was great. Public transport is also fairly close, so you can get anywhere at any time.
What could be improved: I chose this hotel mainly because of the listing of the beautiful room with a balcony and a view of the city. Only later did I find out that these are three different rooms, and I ended up with a room with a view of the other apartments, on the other side. So if you’re expecting a beautiful view, I would double check with the hotel that this is in fact the room that you’re getting.
I asked about toilet paper in the reception as there was little in my room, to which I was told «sorry, we don’t have any more.» So I had to go out and buy toilet paper, which was wierd. Make sure you bring a roll from home, I guess🤷🏽♀️
