Central Apartments Rajska Overview

Central Apartments Rajska sits smack‑in‑the‑middle of Gdańsk’s historic heart, on the narrow, cobbled stretch of Rajska Street that feels like a living museum. I remember my first step out of the car, the smell of old stone and the distant honk of a trams—those are the real, unfiltered sounds that greet you. The check‑in was quick, no long line, and the receptionist—Polish, friendly, with a grin that said, “Welcome to your new home!”—handed me a keycard that glowed like a tiny LED compass. Parking is on the street, a bit of a scramble in the summer, but the city’s free underground lots are just a 10‑minute walk away, so you can leave your car safely and stroll to the Motława River or the iconic Gdańsk Crane (the one that looks like a giant wooden crane, of course). I mean, you’ll see it from the balcony, and honestly, the view of the river at sunset is something you don’t forget.

The apartment itself is a cozy one‑bedroom unit, about 32 square metres, with a kitchenette that’s surprisingly well‑equipped—think a mini fridge, a kettle, a small stove, and all the basic utensils. The living area opens onto a balcony that’s a great spot for morning coffee while you hear the city wake up. The décor is a tasteful mix of modern touches and local art; there’s a framed print of a 19th‑century Gdańsk street scene, and the bed is covered in a soft, high‑thread‑count duvet that feels like a hug. The bathroom is compact but functional, with a rain shower that hits just right. You’ll notice the sound of a quiet street outside, but it’s not the kind of silence that feels eerie—it’s the normal, gentle hum of a European city after the rush hour. The Wi‑Fi is fast enough for streaming, and the TV has a decent selection of Polish and international channels. I used the kettle to brew a pot of tea, and the aroma filled the small room, reminding me of the cafés in Kraków. The only small hiccup was that the air‑conditioning unit was a bit loud at night, but the noise level was still manageable.

If you’re thinking about the best time to visit, keep in mind that Gdańsk gets a bit hectic in late July and early August, especially around the city’s main squares. That’s when the street vendors set up their stalls, and the local jazz clubs start playing. I stayed in early September, so the afternoons were quiet, the temperatures were mild, and I could walk to the nearby St. Mary’s Church without a crowd. The hotel’s location means you’re never more than a ten‑minute walk from the Old Town’s cobblestones, the bustling Fish Market, or that little café on Jagiellońska Street known for its cinnamon rolls—yes, they’re really good. Check‑out is flexible; the front desk offered me a late checkout at 3 pm, which was a lifesaver after a day of exploring the port. Overall, Central Apartments Rajska feels like a home base that offers authentic, local vibes without the fluff of typical hotel marketing. If you want a place that feels like you’re part of the city, not just a tourist passing through, this is it.

  • David from Czech Republic – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

A cosy apartment, the biggest advantages are that it is located: a) near the historical center of Gdańsk, it's a really quite short distance to the historical center of Gdańsk, a lot of bars/pubs/restaurants near by, b) near the Gdańsk Main Station (so you can even travel smoothly to other Tricity places), c) Madison Shopping Hall (with various selection of retails stores, but also with a grocery store Netto. Plus Biedronka, ALDI are also located near by, with Źabka located almost at every step :-). A bed is really comfortable and I enjoyed the sleep there. Also kitchenette equipment is really suitable according to me.

What could be improved: Pity that there was not a shower gel in a bathroom. Fortunately, I took a mini-shower gel with me so I could use my own. The apartment entrance doors were squealling a little bit, so when I came home in the middle of night, I was trying to make so little noise as I could have because I did not want to wake up guests from the second one apartment. Otherwise, I do not have any negative appeal at all.
