Waterlane Vintage – Fitness & Gym by Downtown Apartments Overview
Waterlane Vintage – Fitness & Gym by Downtown Apartments sits smack in the heart of Gdańsk, right at 17 Wałowa, where the old cobblestones meet the buzz of the modern city. I walked in on a rainy Thursday and the first thing that hit me was the warm, slightly musty scent of old books that somehow lingers in the lobby—like the place has a memory of every guest that’s ever stayed. The lobby itself is a mix of vintage leather chairs and polished metal, a nod to the building’s past life as a gym, and the staff greet you with a polite smile that feels almost like a nod from a friend.
When you step into your room, the view is a bit of a paradox: you can see the bustling street below, yet the windows are lined with heavy curtains that block out the street noise. The bed is a generous size with a mattress that’s neither too firm nor too soft—just the kind of comfort that makes you want to stay a little longer. The bathroom is sleek, with a rain shower that feels like a spa, and the tiny kitchenette has a kettle and a selection of local teas that you can’t find in a chain hotel. I swear the only thing that’s missing is a minibar; the staff will happily bring you anything you ask for, which is a nice touch. Parking is free on the street, but if you’re staying for a week, the underground lot is a bit pricier and you’ll have to pay a small fee—just a heads‑up for those who want to keep their car close.
The real charm, though, is the fitness center. It’s open 24/7, so you can get a sweat session before the city wakes up or after the last tram has left. The equipment is top‑notch, and the gym’s window panels give you a view of the street below, so you can feel the pulse of Gdańsk while you’re lifting. The pool is a bit of a hidden gem; it’s open during the summer months and closed in winter, but the surrounding terrace has a small café that serves fresh pastries and coffee—perfect for a post‑workout snack. If you’re a foodie, you’ll love the fact that the hotel is only a three‑minute walk from the Old Town’s market square, where you can grab a pierogi from a street vendor or enjoy a glass of local beer at one of the many bars on Stary Rynek. The check‑in process is quick and efficient, but the front desk staff can be a touch formal—though they’ll gladly give you a map of the area and recommend the best spots to visit.
What makes Waterlane Vintage stand out is how it blends the old and new, giving you a taste of Gdańsk’s history while still offering modern comforts. I’ve stayed at a few boutique hotels in the city, but the combination of a solid fitness program, a quiet yet centrally located room, and the easy access to the cobblestone streets of the Old Town makes this place feel like a secret that only locals would know. The quiet hours are surprisingly good: by 10 p.m., the city’s chatter fades, and the only sounds you hear are the faint hum of the gym’s equipment and the occasional distant siren. If you’re planning a trip during the peak summer season, you’ll want to arrive early to snag a spot in the gym or a window seat in the lounge. For a quieter stay, the winter months are ideal—no crowds, no rush, just a cozy room and a city that’s still alive. All in all, Waterlane Vintage is a place that feels like home, and honestly, I can’t wait to go back.
Best hotels in Gdansk range from charming boutique properties in the historic Main Town to elegant waterfront hotels with stunning views of the Motława River and Gothic architecture.

Apartment was located in beautiful building, near shopping centre. Host prepared amenities and was helpful.
What could be improved: Stairs to second floor seemed bit dangerous, in bedroom there wasn't a closed, only shelves. TV was placed in kitchen area, furniture looked bit worn out. On second floor could be heard neighbours.Kugys from Lithuania – 24 August 2024 (9/10)
Place was very good. Room was cozy and clean.
What could be improved: Lack of AC and parking. No hangers. Reception doesnt work on sundays and calling via phone wasn’t best experience since receptionist wasn’t so polite.Toma from Lithuania – 23 June 2024 (9/10)
We had a wonderful stay at these apartments. They are very cozy and comfortable, exceptionally clean, and equipped with everything needed for a few days' stay with family and kids. The location is very convenient. Communication with the hosts was excellent and prompt. Highly recommend!

Very easy check-in/out. Keyless entry so great for our group as we could all enter and leave as we please. Good amenities in the room towels, shower gel, tea/coffee, a fridge, hob and pans etc. All at a very good price in a great location.

Good location, quiet but not far to walk to anything.
What could be improved: Noisy aircon, and no direction to fitness facility.Lee from United Kingdom – 9 September 2023 (9/10)
Maja from Poland – 6 September 2023 (9/10)
The location, the decor, the comfort and facilities
What could be improved: The water in the shower is difficult to regulate and we had to be shown how to make it cooler. Also the shower didn’t drain very well, and on the last day it took ages.Rakel from Finland – 9 July 2023 (9/10)
