Waterlane Marina by Live & Travel Apartments Overview

Waterlane Marina by Live & Travel Apartments sits on Szafarnia Street, just a short stroll from the old port and the bustling market of Gdańsk. I remember the first time I walked up to the building—the scent of salt and fresh seaweed wafting from the marina, mixed with the faint hum of the city’s nightlife. The façade is a mix of sleek glass and warm timber, a nod to the 19th‑century warehouses that used to line the river. When I checked in, the staff—two cheerful young people—handed me a keycard and a handwritten card with the best local cafés marked on it. Honestly, that little touch made the whole experience feel less like a hotel and more like a friend’s apartment.

The rooms are spacious, with floor‑to‑ceiling windows that frame the harbor. I stayed in the 301 suite, which had a kitchenette that actually lets you whip up a quick breakfast while listening to the gentle lapping of boats. The bed was plush, but I have to admit the pillow selection was a bit limited—just one type, so if you’re particular about your sleep comfort, you might want to bring your own. Noise is a factor at night; the harbour is lively, and you’ll hear the occasional horn from a barge. But by 10 p.m., the city quiets down and you can hear the distant waves. If you’re a night owl, you’ll find the view worth it.

Parking is a hidden gem—there’s a small, free underground spot right behind the building, which is a relief because Gdańsk’s streets can get crowded. After dropping off my luggage, I walked to the nearby Stragan Planty, a centuries‑old park that’s a favorite among locals for early‑morning jogs. The path along the river is lined with old oak trees; the leaves rustle softly in the breeze, and the air smells like pine and sea salt. From there, you can walk back to the hotel and pop down to the on‑site café, where the coffee is strong and the pastries are fresh—though the croissants are a bit dry if you’re used to the buttery ones from the city center.

I also noticed the check‑in process was quick; the staff didn’t ask for a photo ID, which I found both convenient and a bit odd—perhaps a safety measure for tourists who don’t want to carry a lot of documents. The reception desk is near the elevator, and the kitchen area is open to the public, which makes it easy to pick up a quick snack without stepping into a lobby that feels too formal. The place is clean, the linens soft, and the bathrooms are surprisingly modern for a 4‑star hotel. The only critique I can offer is that the Wi‑Fi speed is a touch slow during peak hours, so if you’re working from a laptop, you might want to find a quiet corner in the park instead.

Overall, Waterlane Marina by Live & Travel Apartments feels like a hybrid between a boutique hotel and a local apartment. It’s not overly flashy, but it offers the kind of practical, thoughtful touches that make you feel at home—especially when you’re exploring the old town. The location is unbeatable—just a stone’s throw from the port and the historic Old Town, yet you still get that calm, nautical vibe. The only thing to watch for is the noise at night, but if you’re up for it, the view of the boats and the soft glow of lanterns on the water is unforgettable. So, if you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk and want a place that feels both modern and deeply rooted in the city’s maritime heritage, this is the spot to consider.

To book a hotel in Gdansk during major Baltic festivals, travelers need early planning as this historic Hanseatic city draws visitors eager to experience its amber heritage and shipyard history.

  • Milewska from Poland – 11 May 2025 (8/10)

Szczególnie zachwycona jestem osobami: właścicielem, młodą dziewczyną wydającą klucze oraz Panią z ochrony. Życzliwość, jaką rzadko się spotyka. Apartament świetny. Położenie również. Bardzo udany pobyt.

  • Michal from Germany – 9 May 2025 (9/10)
