Twój Salon-Apartamenty Stare Miasto Overview
Twój Salon-Apartamenty Stare Miasto sits tucked between the cobblestone lanes of Gdańsk’s Old Town, on a quiet street that’s more like a secret garden than a bustling tourist spot. I found myself stepping out of the Wawer Street tram stop, and the building was just a few strides away, a charming brick façade with a brass door that feels like it’s been opened for centuries. The first thing you notice is the warm, slightly musty scent of old wood and fresh coffee that wafts from the lobby—it’s the kind of aroma that makes you feel instantly at home. The check‑in was a breeze; the front desk staff were friendly, and they handed me a key card that actually worked on the very first try—no fumbling with codes or waiting for a staff member to come around. I mean, in some other places you have to wait for a minute for the scanner to read your card, and that can be frustrating, but here it was instant.
The rooms are a blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. The living area feels like a cozy study with a leather sofa that’s soft enough to sink into after a long day of walking. I was greeted by a small, tasteful kitchen with a kettle, a coffee machine, and a set of knives that all gleam. The bed is a solid wooden frame with a mattress that’s just firm enough—no too-soft bed, no too-hard. The linens are crisp, and the towels are thick and fluffy, which is a welcome treat after a day in the historic streets. There’s a small balcony that offers a view of the street, and you can just sit and listen to the distant hum of the city. It’s quiet at night, which I really appreciated, especially after a day of exploring the marina and the old port. The only new thing I noticed was that the bathroom’s shower had a slight, almost pleasant, metallic tang—might be a sign of the older pipes, but it’s not a big deal.
Now, I have to admit, the parking situation isn’t the best. If you’re driving, you’ll need to find a spot in the nearest municipal parking lot on Józefa, which can be a bit of a maze during peak tourist season (July to September). The lot is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, and there’s a small fee—about 10 PLN per night. I actually found a spot on the second floor; it was a bit cramped, but it worked. As for noise, the building is fairly soundproof, but if you stay on the upper floors, you can hear the church bells from St. Mary’s Basilica ringing on Sundays—an oddly soothing soundtrack if you’re into that sort of thing. The staff did mention that the older part of the building might have a slight echo when you’re near the stairwell, but honestly it was barely noticeable.
The location is phenomenal if you’re into walking. Just a five‑minute stroll brings you to the bustling market on Główna Street, where you can sample pierogi, and then a ten‑minute walk to the old port and the beautiful waterfront. The real gem, though, is the street right next to the hotel—Twój Salon-Apartamenty Stare Miasto—where there’s a tiny café that serves the best latte in town and a bookshop that’s hidden behind a wall of old books. The hotel’s proximity to the historic sites is unbeatable; you’re never more than a two‑minute walk from the Royal Way, the old town walls, or the bustling square with the medieval clock. I was also pleasantly surprised by the local market on the corner of Radegast and Gdańska streets—truly a place where you can discover local crafts and fresh produce. If you go there early in the morning, you’ll hear the vendors calling out their wares, and the air is filled with the scent of fresh rye bread. The only downside I found was that the lobby’s lighting is a bit dim, which I guess is meant to create a cozy atmosphere but can be a bit hard to read on a night out. However, it doesn’t detract from the overall charm.
All in all, Twój Salon-Apartamenty Stare Miasto feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Gdańsk that I would recommend to anyone looking for an authentic, comfortable stay without the usual tourist hype. The staff, the rooms, the location, and the little touches—like those old wooden beams and the fragrant coffee—make it a place you’ll want to tell your friends about. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk and want to experience the city like a local, this is the spot to stay, especially if you appreciate a blend of historic ambiance and modern comforts. And hey, if you’re traveling during the busiest months, just remember to book early and maybe bring a small bag for the parking lot; the rest of the experience is honestly unbeatable.

What an apartment AMAZING AMAZING. Two separat beadrooms opposite from each other and very cozy beds. And 1 is combined with the livingroom. It is clean modern and has all kitchen equipment and also soap schampoo so no need to bring. The location was the best just 1 street parallell with the main street Dluga. The owner Bozena is very serviceminded and answers all your questions and helps you to even book a time for a hairdresser. That is top quality service.
