The Heart of Old Town Apartments Overview

The Heart of Old Town Apartments sits right on Mariacka 46/47, right where the cobblestones feel like a living memory of the city. I first stepped inside on a rainy Thursday in early October, and the first thing that hit me was that faint scent of freshly baked pierogi wafting from the kitchen—actually, it was the kitchen of the apartment, but it smelled so much like the local bakeries. The lobby is cozy, with a wooden bar that looks like it could have survived the war. The staff greet you with a warm smile and a quick, no‑frills check‑in that makes you feel like you’ve already earned your stay. I was told about the small garage on the street, which is a lifesaver if you’re driving; the key is one of those modern key‑card things that slides in and out of the lock—no fumbling at all.

The rooms inside The Heart of Old Town Apartments are a blend of old‑world charm and modern convenience. The walls, painted in muted earth tones, feel like a calm harbor after a hectic day of sightseeing. The bed, honestly, is the type you never want to leave—plush, with that kind of down that feels like a cloud. And the view? From the balcony, you catch the silhouette of St. Mary’s Church against the sky—it’s a sight that makes you pause and think, “you know what, this city is beautiful.” The apartment’s kitchen comes with all the basics, plus a small espresso machine that actually works, so you can brew your coffee the way you like it. The noise level is surprisingly low—though, late at night, you might hear the distant hum of the Motława River and the occasional clink of a glass from a neighbor’s apartment, but it’s gentle enough that you can’t hear your own thoughts.

I took advantage of the location by strolling down to the Gdańsk Shipyard, where the old cranes line the harbor like skeletons, and then back to the Old Town for a quick lunch at a tiny trattoria on Żurawiczka Street—great, hearty pierogi and a glass of local wine. The area around The Heart of Old Town Apartments is a treasure trove of street art and hidden cafés that you only find by wandering off the main streets. Parking is a little tight on the weekends, but the staff always knows the best spots, and there’s a quiet alley where you can leave your car without being stared at. The only downside was the small gap between the door and the wall—just a little draft that cools the room on hot afternoons, but honestly, it’s a minor quirk that didn’t bother me. All in all, staying here felt like having a secret base in the heart of Gdańsk, with all the city’s energy right outside your window.

Hotels in Gdansk offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this Baltic gem, with easy access to shipyards, museums, and coastal attractions.

The property is clean, bright, and perfectly situated in Old town Gdańsk. The owners thought of everything. There were maps and booklets on things to do in the city plus thoughtful touches like shampoo and conditioner to use in the shower. The owners are helpful and available. When we couldn’t find the parking entrance behind the building, they met us in town where we determined we were lost and led us to the property. They made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Simply perfect!

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Yvonne from United Kingdom – 26 September 2024 (10/10)

The host was so helpful and met us on arrival and just a phonecall away should any issues arise. Apartment was well located on the second floor overlooking a beautiful street below and close to all attractions. The interior well designed, spacious, tastefully decorated and exceptionally clean. Beds and pillows very comfortable and blackout blinds excellent. It was also very quiet at night and we would highly recommend.

The property was in a fantastic location and was furnished to an excellent standard, it felt more like a home than a holiday apartment. You could feel the love that the owners have for it. It was spotlessly clean and had great facilities. Fabulous place to stay in Gdansk
