Suite Sixteen Szafarnia Overview

I just got back from a stay at Suite Sixteen Szafarnia, and honestly, I’m still buzzing about every little detail. The check‑in was a breeze—there was a friendly concierge who handed me a key card with a tiny, handwritten note that said “Welcome to Gdańsk” in the local hand‑written script the staff use. I was already pulled into the buzz of the city just because the hotel sits right on Szafarnia 6/16, a block away from the Market Square and only a quick stroll to the old‑town harbor. The front desk was super helpful, pointing me toward the best spots to grab a coffee on ul. Gdańska before the city really wakes up. You know what? The lobby’s old‑world charm feels like you’re stepping into a time capsule, but with all the modern touches that make you wonder why you ever stayed anywhere else.

The room itself—well, it’s a real treat. Suite Sixteen Szafarnia offers a surprisingly spacious layout with a balcony that peaks over the cobblestone streets. I could hear the faint clatter of the tram as it rattles past the corner of ul. Piotrkowska, a sound that’s oddly comforting when you’re in a new city. The king‑size bed was thick and soft, like the kind you find in a luxury boutique hotel, and the linens were crisp—no weird, synthetic smell that you get in cheaper chains. I appreciate the small touches: a local map with the best pier spots, a bottle of locally brewed craft beer, and a mini‑spa kit that actually feels like a spa kit. The bathroom had a deep soaking tub—imagine soaking in a tub while the city lights twinkle outside—plus a decent amount of space, which is something you don’t always get in a 4‑star place. Parking was a relief; there’s a small underground garage just a few steps away, and the staff were quick to show me where to leave the car. It’s not free, but the rates are reasonable and the security feels solid.

When it comes to food, the hotel’s own bistro is a hidden gem. They serve a breakfast that’s a mix of Polish staples and Western classics—think pierogi alongside English muffins. The coffee is strong, and the pastries are flaky, the kind that melt in your mouth. For dinner, I tried the local fish stew, and it was fresh, with a hint of dill that reminded me of the Baltic breeze. If you’re looking for something else, just ask the staff for a recommendation, and they’ll point you toward the best seafood spot on the waterfront—there’s a place called “Szczecin’s Delight” that’s a 10‑minute walk away, right by the river. For those late‑night cravings, there’s a 24‑hour café on ul. Długa, but the real fun is the small, local bar on the first floor of the hotel where you can grab a shot of vodka and chat with the locals. All in all, Suite Sixteen Szafarnia feels like a home base that’s as much a part of Gdańsk’s charm as the old town itself. I would definitely stay here again if I’m back in Poland—just make sure to book early in the spring, because that season’s rush can be a bit loud, but it’s also when the city really comes alive.

Exploring Gdansk offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s maritime heart, from its magnificent Gothic churches to its amber workshops and legendary shipyards where Solidarity was born.
