Soul House Gdansk Old Town Overview
Soul House Gdansk Old Town sits on a quiet corner of 9 Elżbietańska, just a few steps away from the bustling Market Square and the historic St. Mary’s Church. I first spotted it while strolling down the cobblestones, the building’s brick façade and warm lights giving off a vibe that felt more like a home than a hotel. The moment I knocked on the door, the staff—friendly, a bit quirky—welcomed me with a quick check‑in that felt less like a procedure and more like a friendly hello. They handed me a map that didn’t just list tourist spots but also hidden cafés and the best corner for a sunrise over the Motława River.
When you’re staying at Soul House Gdansk Old Town, the room is surprisingly spacious for a 4‑star place. I found the double bed to be a bit on the firmer side, which is good if you prefer a solid mattress, but the pillows were a touch too soft—just enough to make you think “I could stay here forever.” The décor is a tasteful mix of vintage Polish posters and contemporary art, giving the room an almost bohemian feel. The bathroom, while clean, had a tiny leak in the shower that the front desk fixed within an hour – a small hiccup, but it was handled promptly. The Wi‑Fi is generally reliable, although during the annual St. Dominic festival the signal can dip when the city’s street lights flicker on.
Parking is a bit of a scavenger hunt: on weekdays you’ll need to hunt for street spots, and they’re usually filled by 8 a.m. The nearest paid lot is a block away on the street opposite the Old Town Hall; it’s a bit pricey but worth the convenience. If you’re traveling during the summer peak, you’ll notice the city’s nightlife creeping in after midnight, but the hotel’s lower‑floor location keeps the noise surprisingly low. I woke up to the soft hum of a tram passing by, the distant clatter of a bicycle chain, and the smell of fresh pierogi wafting from the corner bakery on Elżbietańska. That aroma—sweet, yeasty, and slightly smoky—made me feel like I was right at home.
The staff at Soul House Gdansk Old Town are genuinely enthusiastic. They’re not just pushing a brochure; they actually recommend places that fit your mood. I asked for a quiet spot to work, and they pointed me to the tiny reading nook on the mezzanine, complete with a view of the rooftops and a steaming mug of local coffee. When I mentioned that the minibar had an odd plastic bottle of water, they apologized and replaced it the next day. Small details like that add up to a feeling of care.
If you’re planning a visit, the best time is late spring or early autumn. The city’s tourist crowds are manageable, the weather is comfortable, and the street markets are lively but not overwhelming. In winter, the lights on the alleyways create a cozy atmosphere, though the days are short and the chill can seep through the windows if you’re not careful with the curtains.
All in all, Soul House Gdansk Old Town is a place that feels like a secret haven you find by accident rather than a polished hotel you book online. It’s not perfect—there’s a leak to fix, the Wi‑Fi can lag during festivals, and parking isn’t straightforward—but the genuine warmth of the staff, the intimate connection to the city’s pulse, and the small, thoughtful touches make it a spot you’ll remember long after you’ve left the cobblestones behind. The next time you’re wandering the lanes of Gdańsk, stop by this little gem and let it show you a side of the city that’s all its own.
Gdansk’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with Baltic charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant Polish coastal city.

What could be improved: Very small space for two beds. Dormitory-like accommodation.Trilijan from Serbia – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
Great location, it's just a few minutes by foot away from the train station and old town too. The room was quiet and warm and has a kettle available. There is a self check in/out available and it's easy to use, we got instructions sent the day before arrival. As we arrived earlier, we met the owner who let us leave our luggage until our room was ready.
The object is next to the church and just on the left to it there is a hidden gem, a cafe downstairs, you can find entrance in the building left of the church. They have really nice cakes and a selection of loose tea among other drinks and they don't have prices, you pay as much as you think it's worth.Emma from Czech Republic – 1 May 2025 (8/10)
