Scala City Center Apartments & Studios by Lion Apartments Overview
Scala City Center Apartments & Studios by Lion Apartments sits on Łąkowa 60C, right in the heart of Gdańsk, and honestly, that spot feels like a secret corner of the city that only locals know. The building itself is a charming mid‑century block with a little wrought‑iron balcony that offers a cheeky view of the cobblestone streets below. When I first stepped into the lobby, the smell of freshly brewed espresso from the little café on the corner of Łąkowa and Gdańska Street hit me, and I instantly felt like I was about to discover the city’s best-kept secrets. Check‑in is a breeze – you just swipe a card at the electronic kiosk and a digital key pops up on your phone. No long queues, no waiting for a receptionist. It’s the kind of small, efficient touch that makes you think, “this place knows what travelers need.”
The rooms are the real highlight. I booked a studio, and it’s a snug, sun‑lit space with a kitchenette that actually feels functional – a small fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker that works like a charm. The sofa is plush, and the bedding is a perfect mix of cotton and memory foam; I slept like a log on the first night. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious with a rain shower that makes you feel like you’re in a spa, not a hotel. Noise from the street is minimal thanks to the double‑pane windows, but you can still hear the faint hum of the city – the clatter of bicycles, the distant chatter from the Old Town. It’s the kind of background noise that makes you feel like you’re right in the middle of everything. Parking is the only small hiccup: street parking is free, but you’ll have to navigate a maze of narrow lanes, especially during the summer when the streets are packed with tourists. I parked in a nearby lot a few blocks away – it’s a couple of minutes on foot, but you get a better view of the Motława River.
What makes this place truly special is its location. From the studio, you can walk to St. Catherine’s Hill in under ten minutes, and the view of the harbor is just breathtaking at sunset. If you’re into food, the local market on Piotrkowska Street is a stone’s throw away, and the vendors there sell the freshest pierogi and smoked fish. I spent an afternoon at the Gdańsk Shipyard, a place that feels like stepping back into history, and the next morning I was already at the beach, the sea breeze mixing with the scent of fresh cut grass from the nearby parks. The staff are friendly, and they actually know the best spots for a midnight coffee – a tiny place on Słowackiego Street where the barista will recommend a latte with a hint of cardamom. The only critique I have is that the Wi‑Fi can be spotty in the evenings; I had to reboot the router twice to keep my work emails flowing. But honestly, that’s a tiny price to pay for a place that feels like a home base in a city that’s so full of life. And if you’re planning to visit during the summer, be prepared for the streets to get lively after dark – but that’s part of Gdańsk’s charm, right? The next time I’m back, I’ll definitely book a larger apartment, because the space here is perfect for a quick getaway and the vibe is unmistakably Gdańsk‑ish.
Exploring Gdansk offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s maritime heart, from its magnificent Gothic churches to its amber workshops and legendary shipyards where Solidarity was born.

Reviews of Scala City Center Apartments & Studios by Lion Apartments
Alžběta from Czech Republic – 29 May 2025 (9/10)
It is very nice and well equipped flat
What could be improved: neighbors next door on our floor were pretty noisy in the night, so I needed earplugs to sleep wellAlan from United Kingdom – 10 February 2025 (10/10)
Good location (set drop off as hotel sadova as taxi couldn't find apartment as it's a new building), secure apartment, fully equipped kitchen facilities, comfortable bed and sofa. Warm in winter and has a fan for summer. Communication for check in was efficient. Fast wifi
What could be improved: There is construction work but it is clearly stated before booking but really had no effect on us. Maybe in summer sitting on the balcony for a while wouldn't be so good. City tax payable through a link that I'm not sure is fully secure?Connor from United Kingdom – 10 December 2024 (10/10)
Spacious, high end and homely. Has every amenity you would need including pans, pots, cups, cutlery, washing machine etc.
What could be improved: The distance of the bin shed from the property and couldn’t find the receptionBrigid from Ireland – 8 December 2024 (10/10)
Apartment clean had everything you needed lovely balcony
What could be improved: WiFi dreadful and heating not sufficient for size of apartment but luckily wasn't in minus degreesMichael from United Kingdom – 30 November 2024 (10/10)
Amazing location with easy walking distance to top attractions, shops, restaurants etc… The apartment had eveything you could need, from incredible coffee machine to washing machine and even board games. It was incredibly clean, checking in and out was easy and well detailed via message, replies were always quick also. We felt safe and could relax in the evening as the apartment was well furnished and decorated to feel welcoming.
What could be improved: NoneKristine from Latvia – 31 October 2024 (10/10)
I liked the location, cleanliness, everything was modern!
What could be improved: We didn’t know that we have to pay city tax through the apartment system. There is no option to pay by ApplePay, Paypal and I had to give my credit card data for paying just 3 euro tax. I think it is not safe and I don’t get it why city tax can not be included in booking.com price. Thats why I chooses booking.com that it is safe and there is nothing to worry about. But this is really worrying me to pay extra on some polish platform.Stockholm from Croatia – 29 October 2024 (10/10)
