Royal Gdansk Overview

Royal Gdansk sits on a quiet street in the heart of the city, but don’t let that fool you – it’s practically on the pulse of everything Gdańsk has to offer. The building’s façade is a charming blend of historic brick and modern glass, and the moment you step inside, you’re met with a surprisingly warm, almost homely lobby. The staff greet you with a friendly “Good morning!” and, honestly, they’re the kind of people who remember your name after the first stay. Check‑in is fast – you’re on the way to your room in under ten minutes, and they even include a small welcome note with a local recommendation: the best pierogi spot in the Old Town is just a two‑minute walk away. Parking is easy: there’s a small underground garage right behind the hotel and plenty of street spots nearby if you’re traveling by car. You can also walk to the nearby tram stops – the green line that takes you straight to the Motława River, where you’ll find a lovely promenade that’s perfect for sunset strolls.

The rooms themselves are a good mix of old‑world charm and modern comfort. I stayed in a three‑bedroom suite that had a view of the city’s rooftops, and the windows frame a view of the cobblestone streets below – you can see the shopfronts and hear the distant hum of traffic, but the room’s soundproofing is actually top‑notch, so you can sleep soundly even if the city is buzzing outside. The bedding is a bit on the firmer side, which is fine if you’re used to a good mattress, but the pillows are incredibly fluffy. The bathroom is a minimalist delight: a large walk‑in shower, a sleek vanity, and a small but functional sink. They—well, you know what—leave fresh towels in a small basket, and the soap and shampoo are all locally sourced, which gives it that extra touch of authenticity.

Breakfast is a highlight that I’ll keep coming back to. I’m not one to overstate anything, but the spread is genuinely impressive: freshly baked croissants, a selection of Polish cheeses, and an array of local fruit. The coffee, by the way, is strong and aromatic – it’s the kind of brew that wakes you up and makes you feel ready to explore. And if you’re looking for a spot to relax after breakfast, there’s a small terrace with a spectacular view of the Motława River, where you can sip a latte and watch the boats drift by. The hotel’s rooftop bar is open only on warmer evenings, and it’s a quiet place to unwind with a drink while watching the city lights flicker. I’ve heard that the noise level can be a bit higher on Friday nights, but the building’s insulation does a great job of keeping the traffic and bar chatter from creeping into the rooms. Overall, Royal Gdansk feels like a home base that’s both comfortable and centrally located, with a touch of Polish warmth that makes you feel like you’re staying with a friend rather than a hotel.

Reviews of Royal Gdansk

  • Agnieszka from Poland – 5 April 2025 (7/10)

The road that goes to the hotel is very bumpy

  • Nadezhda from Sweden – 21 December 2024 (8/10)

The hotel is very cozy and clean, and the staff is wonderful. For me, the location was excellent—just a 5-minute walk to the tram stop and three stops to the city center.

    What could be improved: –

  • Sovaite from United Kingdom – 3 December 2024 (8/10)

Big room, big bathroom. Very clean.

What could be improved: Everything was alright.

  • Beata from United Kingdom – 27 November 2024 (9/10)

Super friendly and very helpful receptionist.

What could be improved: The whole pin access code. Had a bit of issues with it however the receptionist helped with that in no time.

  • Ann from Germany – 17 November 2024 (9/10)

Clean and comfortable rooms. Appreciated the use of the kettle and mini-fridge in the room.
The centre can be reached by foot in ca. 25 mins.

What could be improved: Parking spaces in front of the building are limited. Tight road.

  • Piotrowski from Poland – 6 October 2024 (7/10)

It was really clean, room for two is all you really need for one night stay

What could be improved: The mattress was too big for the bed that was underneath, so sleeping at the edge that was like 30 cm over the bed frame it’s really dangerous because at the middle of the night I fell out of my bed. Also, the thermostat that is mounted to the radiator doesn’t work so whenever you put it as low as you can it’s not gonna work so I’ve spend the whole night in a really hot room waking up after 15 to 30 minutes of sleep just to cool myself by opening the window. Also, the TV in the room is old and it has like 30 channels on it with eight of them duplicating so it would be nice in a hotel with three stars to have at least the cheapest TV that has an option to watch Netflix or YouTube.

  • Tawana from United States – 3 September 2024 (8/10)

Nice area away from busy streets

What could be improved: The loudness of the dogs around the rooms

  • Everita from Netherlands – 24 July 2024 (9/10)

Friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable.

  • Nyandia from Sweden – 20 July 2024 (8/10)

The breakfast was good, good service at reception and good standard of room

What could be improved: There was no fan in the bathroom/toilet, so it smelled.

  • Ebuka from Lithuania – 26 June 2024 (8/10)

It was easy to locate from the bus station. The staff was nice and she gave us all necessary information. A good deal for the price and comfortable.

What could be improved: I wish I had stayed longer.
