Qubus Hotel Gdańsk Overview

Qubus Hotel Gdańsk sits on ul. Chmielna 47/52, smack in the middle of the city’s historic district. I walked up the cobblestones from the harbor, the scent of fresh pierogi wafting from a corner stall on ul. Marii Wierzbickiej. The building is a sleek four‑star composite of glass and brick, but it’s the little details that make it feel local. Inside, the lobby greets you with a warm, almost Parisian vibe—soft jazz, a low hum, and a wall of framed postcards of Gdańsk at sunset. The staff are friendly enough that the front desk clerk actually asks if you want a bag for your shoes, which is a small kindness that makes you feel like a regular instead of a tourist. Check‑in is pretty quick, but you’ll notice the concierge took a minute to explain the best way to get to the ferry for the morning trip to Westerplatte.

The room itself is spacious, with a balcony that’s a perfect spot for a morning coffee while watching the city wake up. The floor is a polished oak, and the sheets feel like a thick, comforting blanket. I tried the minibar coffee—sweet, a little too strong, but it did the trick. The bathroom is a clean, minimalist space; the shower’s water pressure is solid, and the bathrobe feels like a cloud. Noise is surprisingly low, even though you’re only a few steps from the Old Town’s chatter. The windows are double‑glazed, so you can hear the distant bells of St. Mary’s without being disturbed. The hotel offers free Wi‑Fi, but you’ll get a better connection if you move the laptop to the balcony and let the city’s slow pulse sync with your device.

Parking is a bit of a mission if you’re driving. There’s no on‑site lot, so you’ll have to head to the public parking on ul. Kaczynska, which can fill up by mid‑morning during peak season. If you’re staying for a weekend, it’s usually fine, but check the schedule if you’re arriving after 5 pm. For those on foot or a bike, the hotel’s near the Gdańsk Public Library, so you can grab a coffee at the café on ul. Gdańska and then stroll over without a car. The best part is the proximity to the old city’s attractions—just a ten‑minute walk to the Royal Way, or a quick tram ride to the beach. I found the morning rush when everyone’s heading to the trams to be lively but not overwhelming; the city breathes at its own pace.

Honestly, the only thing that could use a tweak is the lobby lighting. It’s a bit dim in the evenings, which might make it hard to spot the restrooms or the small café corner. But that’s just a minor quibble in an otherwise stellar experience. If you’re looking to soak up Gdańsk’s history, its maritime vibe, and a comfortable place to unwind, Qubus Hotel Gdańsk is a solid choice. I’d book again, especially during the quieter months around October when the city’s light is soft and the streets are less crowded. And if you’re keen on a bit of local flavor, ask the staff for their favorite nearby spot—trust me, you’ll discover a hidden gem that only the locals know.

Reviews of Qubus Hotel Gdańsk

  • Keith from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (9/10)

It was a great hotel as very clean and tidy and only a 5 min walk to the center of the town , so many bars and places to eat .As in the room you had tea/coffee making machine and also a water machine on each floor , would stay here again.

What could be improved: Nothing !!

  • Natalia from Poland – 5 June 2025 (9/10)

The location is perfect, walking distance from the city centre and public transport if you want to venture further out.

What could be improved: Close to a major road and you can hear the noise of your room is on that side. But it’s worth it for the view of the river.

  • Aleksandras from Lithuania – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

    Best breakfast

  • Thuzar from Netherlands – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

The breakfast was one of the best in Europe. several kinds of cheese , bread and fruit. meats, beans, fishes. Perfect on Friday and Saturday. Only it's so busy around 9. So we went earlier the following days. On Sunday there s no apples at all and got the last banana. That might be because many guests check out on Sunday. Most staffs especially the ladies are very friendly. On our request they did everything they can to give a good time. Very good restaurant. Delicious ribs with fried sweet potatoes . Amazing Strawberry Magrita.

What could be improved: The hotel is very close to the busy street. So if you open the windows, it is quite noisy. The central Air-conditioning
system is not cold enough for me ( In Asia hotels have very good Air-conditioning )So I couldn't sleep well but when I open the windows, it s so noisy, I couldn'tsleep at all. They gave us the other room. Much appreciated. But made a little difference. We were there on end of May. It would be a hell for me in summer.

  • Isabel from Germany – 2 June 2025 (9/10)

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff; exceptionally good and diverse breakfast, Quality (both ingredients and preparation) of the restaurant food; the local white wine

What could be improved: Nothing to add here

  • Denys from Ukraine – 1 June 2025 (9/10)

Great hotel in the heart of the city. All a tourist needs to see is in a walking range. If you want to visit Sopot the direct tram station is just near the hotel.

What could be improved: The car parking is too small. Consider the paid public streets parkings nearby.

  • Neil from United Kingdom – 30 May 2025 (9/10)

Breakfast selection was exceptional.Cereal, fruit, hot food, meats and cheeses. The terrace by the river was an added bonus; watching the boats passing by while sitting having a drink. The hotel Qubus boat trip down the river was a pleasant opportunity. The location of the hotel was perfect for the town centre, bars, restaurants and trams. Staff were very helpful when we needed a phone charger and umbrella! Would recommend this hotel to anyone, and hope to return ourselves soon.

What could be improved: Coffee machine in bar was turned off by 10.30pm while the bar was open until 11pm. Not everyone wants an alcoholic nightcap!

  • Icklepinkgirl from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

The breakfast was truly amazing! We've had a lot of hotel breakfasts and this was one of the best. They kept refreshing everything so hot food was actually hot and it was all fresh. My husband is gluten intolerant and they gave him gluten-free bread every morning. There was a waffle maker, different types of eggs, 5 different blue cheeses, cereals and some dishes were changed every day (eg, different vitamin shots, chia seeds, puddings etc).
Our bed was comfy and the room was clean. It's a good size too. The staff were helpful and friendly. There's a free drinking water machine on each floor so we didn't have to buy lots of bottled water. If you want to use the sauna you need to give them 30 mins notice. It was nice and quiet and clean.
We were upgraded to a river view room which was possibly quieter than the side nearer the road. You can hear a bit of traffic but compared to being in the old town, I think it's much quieter. It only took 15 mins to walk to most places.
If we return to Gdańsk, we would come back to this hotel.

What could be improved: We didn't appear to have a working extractor fan in the bathroom so it got unbearably hot in there. The air conditioning was good but we couldn't open the windows.

  • Anne from Spain – 28 May 2025 (9/10)

The room was extremely comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was brilliant, with a great variety of high quality offerings.

What could be improved: All wonderful, especially the staff!
