PURO Gdańsk Stare Miasto Overview

PURO Gdańsk Stare Miasto is tucked right on Stągiewna 26, smack in the heart of the Old Town, so you’re literally walking to the cobbled streets of Stradomka, the tiny alley that feels like a secret garden, and a stone’s throw from the bustling Motława River. When I first stepped through the door—yeah, the front desk is open 24/7, which is a lifesaver if you’re arriving after a night out—it felt like a breath of fresh, slightly salty air. They’re quick, but not rude; the staff even remembers your name by the second week of your stay. The check‑in was a breeze, no long queues, and the little “welcome” note on the desk? Cute. You can’t help but grin.

The rooms in PURO Gdańsk Stare Miasto feel like a modern loft in a historic building; the walls are a mix of exposed brick and polished wood, which makes the space feel warm but still chic. The bed? Foam that actually supports you—no springy nonsense—and the linens are crisp, like something you’d find in a 5‑star hotel but without the pretentious vibe. I mean, you’ll notice the little touches: a small coffee station, a mini fridge, and a wall‑mounted TV with a decent selection of Polish channels, which is handy if you’re trying to catch the local news. Noise is a mixed bag; the mornings are surprisingly quiet, but as the city wakes up, the cobblestone streets echo with the clatter of shoes and the murmur of tourists. The windows face the street, so if you’re not a fan of the city’s hustle, a later check‑out might be worth it. Parking can be a nightmare in Gdańsk; there’s a paid lot a block away on Stągiewna, but you’ll need to walk a few minutes with your suitcase. It’s a bit pricey, but the convenience is worth it.

What really makes PURO Gdańsk Stare Miasto stand out is how it ties into the local vibe. The rooftop terrace—yes, they finally opened it after the winter—offers a panoramic view of the old town’s rooftops and the river, and the bar there serves craft beers and a surprisingly good vodka shot that actually tastes like vodka, not the cheap imitation you find in chain hotels. After a day of wandering the city, you can sip a drink while watching the sunset over the Crane and feeling the wind from the river. The hotel’s rating is a solid 9.2, and honestly, that number reflects the real experience: a clean, well‑furnished space, staff who care, and a location that feels like you’ve slipped into a storybook. If you’re planning to stay during the peak summer season, be prepared for a few extra footsteps outside the building—locals and tourists alike. But the quiet hours at night, probably after 10 pm, are a relief; you’ll hear the distant bells of St. Mary’s Church ringing, which is oddly soothing. All in all, PURO Gdańsk Stare Miasto is the kind of place you’ll want to recommend to a friend, because it feels like home, not a hotel, and it’s wrapped in the charm of Gdańsk’s Old Town.

Gdansk hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Poland’s maritime capital, known for its rich amber trade history and Solidarity movement heritage.

  • Helen from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (10/10)

Beautifully renovated building inside and out I believe the hotel was renovated just a few years ago so very clean. I like the style elegantly done. Location is excellent just a few minutes walk to old city, you can walk to the station and easily catch buses or trams. Breakfast was the best I have ever had in any hotel even better than 5 str hotels. so much choice for all food types, plant based as well. Fantastic chefs, great service. The reception staff were excellent, helping plan trips to Malbork castle and the Baltic sea. This hotel is far better than any other i have styed in including 5 star hotels. There is a superb spa excellent steam and sauna rooms free for guest use, i also paid for 2 massages, both excellent.

What could be improved: There is nothing I didn’t like this is an excellent hotel.

  • Joanna from United Kingdom – 3 June 2025 (8/10)

The decor, the breakfast, the shower, and location!

What could be improved: I find it strange that there are no facilities to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room. I didn't want to go down to get my coffee in the morning.

  • Jón from Iceland – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

The room was good. Location is fantastic if you are visiting the old Town Breakfast is really good. you can get bikes rent free for travelin the city.

What could be improved: The rooms should be bigger. They had some problem with the fire alarm and it was disturbing.

  • Isobel from United Kingdom – 31 May 2025 (10/10)

    Location, design, sauna, steam room

What could be improved: Room size, tv not working

  • Ieva from Lithuania – 23 May 2025 (10/10)

The interior of hotel is superior to details. We were hosted super friendly with a dog and kids. Wide range and tasteful breakfast.

What could be improved: Parking in the area around is quite full and expensive.

  • Deborah from United Kingdom – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

The wellness centre was exceptional. We loved the steam room and sauna. They were wonderful places to relax.

What could be improved: The safe had a blip on the first night which meant it did not recognise the code set: it was duly rectified but really not ideal and left us with a fair bit of angst. We didn’t use it again!

  • Doreen from United Kingdom – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

Very comfortable room, bed was a good size lovely bedding. Big bathroom, lovely toiletries, cleaned daily , good size towels. Central location.

What could be improved: Bar could have been bigger and the range and quality of wine and cocktails could have been so much better.
