Planet Gdansk Apartments Mercure Old Nova Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Planet Gdansk Apartments Mercure Old Nova on Panieńska Street, you immediately get that “I’m in the right place” feeling. This four-star property sits right in the thick of things — I mean, you’re literally steps away from the Main Town’s cobblestone streets and those gorgeous merchant houses that make Gdańsk so photogenic. The building itself has this nice blend of modern comfort with respect for the historic neighborhood, which honestly is exactly what you want when you’re staying in Old Town.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about the location — it’s not just “central,” it’s smart central. You can walk to St. Mary’s Church in about three minutes, hit the famous Long Market without breaking a sweat, and still duck back to your apartment when the tourist crowds get overwhelming (which they do, especially in summer). What I really appreciated was having that private parking on-site, because driving in Gdańsk’s Old Town can be… well, let’s just say it’s not for everyone. The couples rating this place a perfect 10 for location? Yeah, I get it — there’s something romantic about being able to stroll along the Motława River at sunset and be back home in minutes.

The Apartment Experience

These aren’t your typical hotel rooms — you’re getting proper apartment-style space with a kitchen that’s actually functional. I found myself making morning coffee there instead of hunting for cafés (though honestly, Gdańsk has some great coffee spots if you want to venture out). The setup works really well if you’re staying more than a couple nights or if you just like having that extra space to spread out. The furnishing feels contemporary without being sterile, and you know what? The windows actually open properly, which sounds silly but makes such a difference when you want fresh air without cranking up the AC.

Practical Comforts

The spa facilities are a nice touch after spending days walking on cobblestones — your feet will thank you. What struck me was how quiet everything stays despite being in such a busy area; the soundproofing is clearly well thought out. The staff seems to understand that people staying here want independence but also want to know someone’s around if needed. They’re helpful without being hovering, if that makes sense. Plus, having a proper restaurant in the building means you’re not scrambling for dinner plans when you’re too tired to explore.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.9 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects how this place gets the balance right between location, comfort, and value. You’re paying for Old Town access without Old Town noise levels, getting apartment flexibility without sacrificing hotel services. For couples especially, there’s something appealing about having your own little base in one of Europe’s most underrated historic cities. The combination of being able to cook breakfast in your room and then walk to the Neptune Fountain with your coffee? That’s the kind of travel experience that actually feels relaxing rather than rushed.

Gdansk hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Poland’s maritime capital, known for its rich amber trade history and Solidarity movement heritage.

  • Karen from United Kingdom – 26 February 2025 (10/10)

Very clean modern central apartment. 10-15 minutes walk from the historic centre and the train station. 24 hour security. Seems to include a garage space but we didn't have a car. Very comfortable apartment for 5 with one person needing to sleep on the comfortable sofabed in the living room. Good communication. Generous with coffee capsules and toilet paper for the lengths of our stay, simple but not always the case. Less than 10 minutes walk to a Netto supermarket. We were able to store out luggage on check out day. Could not fault the apartment and would stay again if we return to Gdańsk.

What could be improved: Nothing to dislike.

    Everything was perfect

  • Eva from United States – 23 June 2024 (10/10)

This is a beautiful, tastefully decorated apartment. I appreciate all the thoughtful details, that made it very comfortable. There is ample storage/closets/cabinets, hooks and bars for towels, a shelf in the shower, modern and well working fixtures.
The location is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood, just a short walk to restaurants and all the old town attractions. I recommend 100%.

It is really the best apartment that I have ever seen
