Piwna Glamour & Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments Overview
Piwna Glamour & Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments sits right on the corner of 14 Piwna, a spot I’ve been coming back to for years because the street has that old‑town vibe you only get in Gdańsk. The first time I walked up the cobblestones, I could hear the distant chime of the St. Mary’s Cathedral bells and smell the fresh bread from a bakery on Długi Targ. It felt like stepping into a postcard, but actually, there’s a whole lot more happening than just the scenery.
The check‑in was surprisingly smooth. The front desk staff—two young Poles with a laugh that sounded like a chorus of street musicians—handed me a keycard and a paper map that highlighted not just the main attractions but also the best little nooks for a quick coffee. If you’re a traveler who likes a bit of adventure, they’ll point you toward the Motława River walk, where you can catch a sunset over the old brick warehouses, and the hidden café on Gdańska Street, where the espresso is strong enough to wake you from any jet lag. The rooms are spacious, a good 25 square meters, and the decor is a blend of modern chic and nautical nostalgia—think navy pillows and brass fixtures. The view from the balcony? Honestly, it’s a sweet mix of the old town’s rooftops and the sparkling river, especially at dusk when the city lights flicker.
Parking can be a bit of a scavenger hunt. Street parking is scarce in the heart of the Old Town, but there’s a paid lot just a block away on 3rd Street that offers free parking on weekends. (You know what? I once saw a rental car parked there and the owner shouted a quick thank you to the lady at the counter.) Noise-wise, I was a bit surprised. The hotel is close to the bustling city square, but the walls are thick enough that the nightly bar scene doesn’t bleed into your room. The only buzz you’ll hear is the faint rumble of trams passing by, and the occasional clink of glasses from the restaurant across the street—perfect for those who like a bit of background music but not a full-blown rave.
The breakfast at the hotel is a solid start. They serve a mix of local pastries—croissants filled with raspberry jam—and fresh fruit, plus a selection of cereals. The barista bar sits in a corner where you can order a latte while listening to a local jazz trio playing on a nearby street corner. The staff has a small, almost secret menu of cocktails, and the signature drink is called “The Baltic Breeze” (shaking up local vodka with a splash of grapefruit, it’s a real mouth‑watering treat). The hotel also has a fitness center that’s actually pretty decent for a city break, and the pool is a small indoor one that’s perfect for a quick dip if the weather’s too cold outside.
The only critique I have is that the Wi‑Fi, while decent, can drop a bit during peak hours when the nearby cafés are full of tourists snapping photos. But honestly, the in‑room coffee machine is a lifesaver when you’re tired after a day of exploring. If you’re planning to stay during the high season (July–August), book early because the hotel fills up fast; the staff is accommodating, though, and they’ll often give you a discount if you ask. In the off‑season, you’ll find a quieter vibe and maybe even a chance to chat with a local fisherman who has a boat on the Motława—he’s always ready to swap stories about the city’s maritime past.
All in all, Piwna Glamour & Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments feels less like a hotel and more like a home in the city—friendly, cozy, and steeped in the everyday rhythm of Gdańsk. If you’re looking for a place that’s right where the action is, but still lets you retreat into a peaceful room afterward, this is the spot. The staff’s genuine hospitality and the authentic, un‑pretentious atmosphere make it an experience I’d definitely recommend to anyone who wants to feel the pulse of the old town without the usual tourist fog.

Beautiful apartment clean and very nicely furnished. Great location close to all the sights.
What could be improved: A little noisy at night but to be expected in such a central location.Patricia from United Kingdom – 8 May 2025 (10/10)

Great location and lovely apartment. The window seats were great for relaxing and people watching and beds very comfortable.
What could be improved: Couldn’t find replacement coffee pods in the nearby shops but didn’t really look too hard. Shower pressure could be better on the overhead head.Lisa from United Kingdom – 10 December 2024 (10/10)
Clean, great location. Fantastic place

Location
What could be improved: The Bedroom doors don't close and lock. Doors must be left "ajar". Checkin instructions were much easier than they advertised. They just sent an email with Coded Entry morning of stay for 3pm checkin. Maybe people sign contracts to stay for Months there.Malgorzata from United States – 18 April 2024 (10/10)

Great location, lovely apartment with everything we needed. Highly recommended.
What could be improved: Only having two double beds. One room could have two singles to enable people who are not partners not needing to share a bed.Christina from United Kingdom – 4 December 2023 (10/10)
The property was spacious and beautifully presented – the master bedroom is amazing.
It was in the centre of the old town so was near everything but it wasn’t noisy. There’s a restaurant underneath should you want to visit (you can’t hear anything )
Christmas markets are a 5-10 minute walk away
What could be improved: It’s not a complaint but just some information for other guests. There was no information as to where to find the free WiFi code – or any information as to where places of interest are or what to do in case of fire .. they normally have this kind of info in apartments. I asked for WiFi code but didn’t get it until we have left (we did find it on the router – under the tv)
There was also some confusion as to where to get the keys – one emails tell you to go to the reception which is 1.2km away which we did and was told they were in the apartment
The second email says they in the apartment already and you need a code to access the apartment (so no need to send 1st email)
And the bed in smaller bedroom has a dip in it which is uncomfortable.
