Pfenning by Little Heaven Overview

Pfenning by Little Heaven sits right on Podwale Przedmiejskie, a narrow cobblestone lane that feels like a secret back alley of Gdańsk’s Old Town. The first time I walked up that street, the smell of fresh bread from the bakery on Żukówka and the distant chatter of tourists on Stradomska already set a warm tone. I mean, you’re literally on the path that leads to the bustling market square, so if you’re after that authentic city buzz, you’re in for a treat. The building itself is a charming mix of 19th‑century brick and modern glass—there’s a little garden on the roof that gives you a quiet escape from the street noise.

The check‑in at Pfenning by Little Heaven is pretty smooth. The front desk was open at 3 pm, and the staff—especially the guy named Marek—made the whole thing feel like a friendly chat rather than a transaction. “You’re staying with us for a weekend, right?” he asked, and then handed me a small welcome booklet that actually listed hidden cafés on Gdańsk’s Lesser Street and a map of the best pierogi stalls. Parking is a bit of a hassle if you’re driving, but the hotel’s partner garage on Gdańsk’s Wzgórze Główne is just a five‑minute walk away, and they’ve arranged a discounted rate for guests. I found a spot under a canopy of trees, which kept the city heat at bay.

The rooms are clean, with a wide window overlooking the canal—so you can taste the sea air while you sip your coffee. Honestly, the noise from the canal is almost like a lullaby, especially after 8 pm when the streetlights flicker on and the city quiets into a soft hum. The bed was surprisingly comfortable; the mattress is firm enough to support a good night’s sleep, but the sheets feel like a hug from a cozy blanket. The ensuite bathroom has a rain shower that’s surprisingly generous—just enough to feel like a spa on a cheap price point. I also noticed a small, handwritten note from the previous guest, thanking the staff for their “warm hospitality.” It’s these little touches that make a stay feel personal, not generic.

When the sun was low and the sky turned pink, I stepped out onto the balcony and the scent of the Baltic Sea mingled with the aromas of roasted chestnuts from the nearby market. You know what makes this place stand out? The staff actually suggested a walk to the Old Town, where you can hop on the tram to the famous Gdańsk Crane and, after a quick detour, stop at a little tea shop on Kwiatowa Street that serves the best chamomile tea in town. If you’re looking to explore late at night, the hotel’s location means you’re still within a stone’s throw of the nightlife on Gdańsk’s main avenues, but your room will stay a sanctuary of calm. The whole vibe is like a blend of old‑world charm and modern convenience, and it’s exactly the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re part of the city, not just a visitor.

Early hotels booking in Gdansk requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches and rich maritime culture.

Reviews of Pfenning by Little Heaven

  • Leyla from United Kingdom – 17 October 2024 (9/10)

I liked all the appliences in the kitchen so we could easily make food.

What could be improved: The street is so close so it was quite noisy with the windows open.

  • Bojan from Germany – 7 October 2024 (9/10)

Almost everything was quite good! Excellent location just few minutes to the city center.

What could be improved: – two more towels would be nice but not especially needed
    – the curtain should be more darker. It seems to be too transparent so that we were afraid that someone could see in.

  • Ieva from Lithuania – 3 September 2024 (8/10)

Perfect location, just a few minutes away from the city center. The flat is really clean, comfortable bed and pillows, the space was decorated nicely. The hosts and management were really quick to answer all of our questions, all in all, it was a good deal for a price.

What could be improved: Extremely noisy streat nearby, so sleeping with windows open is not possible, but AC was not working as it should, we could use just a fan mode (could be fixed in future). Place is a bit run down, few pieces of the furniture were broken (chair, fridge doors), ceiling lamp not covering the wires.

  • Divakar from Germany – 23 May 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: Nothing that i did not like. Everything was nice☺️
But if the apartment had an oven for heating a pizza it would be verry verry nice😁

  • Barbara from Ireland – 3 January 2024 (9/10)

Great location only 5 min walk from the Old Town, clean, good facilities, quiet, very warm inside.

What could be improved: Weak wi-fi signal, not a nice smell coming from the bathroom, like the ventilation wasn't working properly in the bathroom.
