Old Town Residence Gdansk Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Old Town Residence Gdansk on Św. Ducha street, you immediately get that feeling — you know, when you realize you’ve stumbled onto something special. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Gdańsk’s historic center, and I mean really in the heart of it. The building itself has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but definitely commands respect. You’re literally surrounded by centuries of history, yet everything feels refreshingly modern and well-maintained.

Location Magic

Honestly, the location is what sets this place apart — couples consistently rate it a perfect 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to the famous Neptune Fountain in about three minutes, and the colorful merchant houses along Długi Targ are practically on your doorstep. What I love is that you’re close enough to everything that matters, but tucked away on a quieter street so you’re not dealing with constant tourist foot traffic. The Main Town Hall, St. Mary’s Church, the medieval crane — they’re all within easy walking distance, which means you can actually explore without feeling rushed.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this perfect blend of contemporary comfort and subtle nods to the building’s character. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, and the furnishings feel thoughtfully chosen rather than just picked from a catalog. The bathroom was spacious — always a pleasant surprise in historic buildings — and everything worked exactly as it should. What struck me most was the attention to detail; even small touches like the lighting and storage solutions showed someone actually thought about how guests would use the space.

Daily Rhythms

Mornings here have this lovely rhythm to them. The breakfast setup is more intimate than what you’d find at larger hotels, which I actually prefer. You can hear the city waking up outside, but inside there’s this calm, almost residential feeling. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you’re comfortable — not in an over-the-top way, just with that kind of quiet professionalism that makes everything run smoothly. Parking can be a bit tricky in the old town, but they’ll help you figure out the best options nearby.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something about staying here that feels like you’re living in Gdańsk rather than just visiting it. Maybe it’s because you’re on a real street where locals actually live and work, or maybe it’s the way the property manages to feel both historic and completely current. The 9.4 rating makes perfect sense when you experience how everything just works — the location, the comfort, the service — without any single element trying too hard to impress. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your stay, not because there’s so much to do at the hotel, but because you’re positioned perfectly to really explore this fascinating city.

Reviews of Old Town Residence Gdansk

  • Agate from Norway – 13 May 2025 (9/10)

Beliggenhet var fantastisk. Nytt, rent, gode senger og god plass.

What could be improved: Matlukt fra nærliggende restaurant. Noe feil med ventilasjon?

  • Sanda from Croatia – 23 April 2025 (10/10)

Great location, clean property, very quiet

  • Andrew from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (10/10)

A beautiful apartment of high standard in the Old Town Gdansk and perfectly situated for the WW2 museum, the Solidarity museum, the river, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, Carre four supermarket amongst others. A most perfect base to explore the beautiful Gadansk old town.

  • Ania from Australia – 15 January 2025 (6/10)

Location was great. The apartament was clean and had sufficient amount of linen. The beds were comfortable.

What could be improved: There was a persistent smell of food in the bathroom coming from the restaurants below. This was unfortunately getting into the apartment. The kitchen equipment was limited.

  • Nina from Norway – 28 July 2024 (9/10)

The location was tremendous, right in the middle of the old Town with lovely cafees on the ground floor, yet no noise. Very chic, well organised apt., clean and more than sufficient supply of toiletries, towels and bed linnens. The host was fantastic, let us check in many hrs before normal. And expeditiously provided us a fan when it was a bit hot in the living room. The kitchen was well equipped, and coffee and bottled water was generously provided as a compliment by the host. Any questions were answered swiflty.

What could be improved: The air condition was quite noisy and could only cool one room, and most higher floor apt. do get a bit hot in the warmer summer months. An upgrade of the air condition, or even a second one to cover the living room and bedroom number 2, would raise my rating to a sure 10.
Besides that, it was a apt I would recomment to anyone. And some of the apt had spacious balconies, which for sure is what I would go for the next time. Then again, the cosy, nice cafees on the ground floor made up for not all apt having balconies.

  • Barry from United Kingdom – 20 February 2024 (10/10)

Excellent reception for going beyond to help me. Much appreciated. Second stay and consistently excellent. Pool is beautifully maintained but cold initially.

What could be improved: nothing to dislike.

  • Eva from Canada – 11 June 2023 (7/10)

Great location. Modern and clean apartment.

What could be improved: Shower . The water pressure was uneven.

  • Janulaitis from Lithuania – 18 May 2023 (10/10)

What could be improved: need not smoked rooms , but all ok

  • Anonymous from Norway – 9 February 2023 (9/10)

Modern, spacy, clean, and very good location.

What could be improved: Had some problem with the bathroom-sink
