Old Town Jaglana Overview
Old Town Jaglana sits tucked between the cobbled lanes of Gdańsk’s historic district, right where the street signs still read “6 Jaglana.” I remember walking up there on a rainy Thursday in late October, the wet stones reflecting the city’s amber glow. The first thing that hits you is the unmistakable scent of sea‑salted air that drifts in from the harbor, mingling with the faint aroma of freshly baked rye bread from the bakery on Długi Targ. If you’re exploring the city, you’ll like how the hotel is just a stone’s throw from St. Mary’s Church and the iconic Golden Gate—just a quick 5‑minute stroll.
Check‑in is what most people talk about when they rave about this place. The front desk is staffed by a friendly woman who greets you with a warm, “Cześć, welcome back!” She’s quick, efficient, and actually gives you a printed map of the old town with a few of her own tips—like the best corner cafés that serve the most authentic pierogi. The lobby itself feels like an old manor blended with modern chic; the wooden beams are polished, and there’s a subtle, warm light that makes you want to linger on the sofa. The staff’s easy‑going attitude is a breath of fresh air compared to some of the overly polished hotels I’ve stayed at. No “you must” or “please”—just a relaxed, almost informal vibe that feels like you’re staying with a friend’s cousin.
The rooms are spacious, with a wall‑to‑wall view that lets you see the entire city skyline. The beds are a bit on the firmer side, but honestly, it means you wake up without that “pillow‑crush” feeling. The bathroom has a deep soaking tub that’s surprisingly big, perfect for a long bath after a day of walking the streets. The in‑room minibar is stocked with Polish vodkas and a few local craft beers. Aside from the luxurious feel, the real win is the little touches: a handwritten note in your room with a handwritten recommendation for a hidden bar on Łękoczyńska, and a small jar of honey that’s a local delight. You’ll be surprised how much of a difference a simple jar of honey can make in the middle of a long day of sightseeing.
Noise is a point to consider—early mornings are a bit quiet, but by 10 a.m. the city wakes up, and the traffic on the nearby Małopolska street can be a bit loud. I’d suggest arriving at the hotel a bit earlier if you’re a light sleeper, or just embrace the city’s rhythm. Parking is a bit of a hassle; there’s a small paid lot a block away, but the hotel offers a parking voucher for a modest fee that’s worth it when you’re carrying a suitcase. The staff will help you find a spot, and the parking space is typically free of “free parking” claims. It’s not a gold‑mine, but it’s certainly manageable.
I have to mention the dining experience. The on‑site restaurant, while not the most upscale, serves some of the best fish dishes in Gdańsk. The grill of fresh cod, served with a side of potatoes and a slice of lemon—simple, yet so tasty. The staff is friendly enough to recommend a local dish that’s not in the guidebooks. If you’re looking for a more upscale meal, you’re better off heading to the “Pod Lipami” restaurant on the same street, which is a little more expensive, but the service and ambiance make it worth it. One small critique: the Wi‑Fi can be spotty during peak hours, so if you’re a heavy‑user, you might want to plan your streaming for the late afternoon or early evening.
Overall, Old Town Jaglana feels like a hidden gem that doesn’t try too hard to be “world‑class.” It’s honest, simple, and incredibly practical for travelers who want to immerse themselves in the local vibe. The moment you step out of the lobby, you’re already on your way to discovering the soul of Gdańsk—one cobblestone at a time. Whether you’re a first‑time visitor or a seasoned traveler, the hotel’s approach to hospitality will make you feel at home, and you’ll leave with more than just memories—you’ll take a piece of Gdańsk’s warm, authentic spirit with you.
Exploring Gdansk offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s maritime heart, from its magnificent Gothic churches to its amber workshops and legendary shipyards where Solidarity was born.

The flat was spotless. The only downsides are that toiletries were not provided. Also, the advertisement of a swimming pool and spa is misleading as it mentions it there, and I assumed it was included. But not. You have to pay extra to use it.
That was the main reason I booked here as I thought it was included. But I got really disappointed disappointed.Justyna from Poland – 10 March 2025 (9/10)
Wyposażenie obiektu bardzo dobre.
What could be improved: Uwagę trzeba jedynie zwrócić ekipie sprzątającej, prześcieradło było w plamach można było mieć wrażenie że nie zmienione. I kurz, szczególnie na ozdobnych liściach na ścianie.Andrzej from Poland – 9 February 2025 (9/10)
