Ogarna Baltus, Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments Overview

Ogarna Baltus, Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments sits just a stone‑throw away from the cobblestone maze of Gdańsk’s Old Town, at 119 Ogarna. I’d say the real charm comes from the way the building blends old‑world brick with modern touches—like a cozy apartment that’s secretly a hotel. The lobby is surprisingly quiet; the staff greet you with a warm “Dzień dobry” that feels more like a friendly nod than a formal welcome. Check‑in is fast, but there’s a subtle hiss of a security scanner that reminds you you’re in a city that still cares about safety.

Walking out, you’re immediately met with the scent of freshly baked pierogi from the corner bakery on Jagiellońska, and the distant hum of scooters and the clatter of plates from the café on Gdańsk’s main square. I’ve noticed that the noise level inside Ogarna Baltus, Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments stays low until late afternoon, which is great if you’re a light sleeper. The rooms themselves are a nice mix: the bedding is crisp but not too stiff, and the windows open to a view of the bustling market square—though you can also get a quiet, almost zen vibe if you pull the curtains just right. The bathroom is surprisingly spacious, and the shower has a good water pressure that feels like a quick reset after a day of exploring.

Parking is a bit of a puzzle, honestly—there’s no dedicated lot, but there are a few paid street spots a block away on Poniatowskiego. It’s a quick 2‑minute walk and you’ll find a meter that’s surprisingly affordable. The staff at Ogarna Baltus, Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments also have a map of the best spots, which comes in handy if you’re a first‑timer. I’d say the best time to visit is late spring or early autumn; the streets are lively but not overcrowded, and the air carries that faint sea breeze that makes the whole city feel fresh. During the busy summer months, the lobby can feel a little crowded, but the staff keep things moving smoothly—no one feels rushed or left behind. If you’re planning a longer stay, the apartment‑style rooms mean you can easily bring in groceries or cook a quick meal in the kitchenette, which is a real lifesaver after a day at the museum or the harbor. Overall, Ogarna Baltus, Main Old Town by Downtown Apartments feels like a friendly neighbor who’s always ready to share a secret spot or a quick tip—exactly the kind of place you’d recommend to a friend with a sense of adventure and a love for authentic city vibes.

  • Alina from Latvia – 4 December 2023 (9/10)

Great location in the heart of the old City, still not noisy. The superior apartment was at a very good price at the beginning of November. Would like to stay there again.

What could be improved: Check-in was a bit challenging. Customer support helped but it took me almost an hour of calls and SMS.

  • Paula from United Kingdom – 28 October 2023 (9/10)

The apartment was in a fantastic location in the old town. It was also very close to the shopping centre and train station. It was very modern and comfortable. We had a great stay here.

What could be improved: I didn't not like anything but there are a couple of things worth knowing about this apartment…. 1) On the day of arrival you are sent checking in details and so ensure you read this document as your actual apartment address is on there. 2) The place is under refurbishment and so on entry to the building it will look like a building site in the foyer. The apartment itself though is great.

  • Kyle from United Kingdom – 10 October 2023 (8/10)

    Fantastic Location and really clean

What could be improved: Hard to find but once phoned the staff were really helpful

  • Valeria from Belarus – 19 December 2022 (9/10)

Excellent apartment. Everything is very clean. Comfortable beds for the whole family. For us it was important. The apartment has a lot of atmospheric things and books, as well as drawing supplies and toys for children. And special thanks for the capsule coffee machine with capsules, as well as a variety of teas. The location of the apartment is perfect. self check-in excellent.

What could be improved: The apartment is on the 3rd floor, there is no elevator. With 2 kids and a stroller it was hard to get up. But this is not critical.

  • Toms from Latvia – 16 August 2022 (9/10)

Cool place in the center of Gdańsk. Very modern and new apartment with the possibility to stay with a pet. The host was very communicative and answered questions quickly, explaining the check-in. The door key is in a box, so check-in was very easy and convenient.

What could be improved: When we booked the accommodation, we did not know that it would be on the 0th floor. When entering the small hallway, there is no apartment number on the door, so it was difficult to understand which apartment was ours. There is no air conditioner here – you can hear everything when you sleep with the windows open, because the windows are right next to the street and during the city holidays, the party here does not stop even on a weekday night. Even with the windows closed, the wall between the house main corridor and the bedroom is very thin, so you can hear every neighbor using the front door code and closing the front door of the house. It should be noted that there is no parking here, so you will have to use the paid public parking on a street or look for a free parking, which we managed. It was about a 10-15 minute walk. These are all minor details, but good to keep in mind.
