NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Nowa Grobla Overview
NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Nowa Grobla is tucked in the old quarter, right on Długa Grobla 10/35, where the cobbles still remember the footsteps of sailors from the 19th century. I arrived on a rainy Tuesday; the staff at the front desk—there was a friendly guy named Marek, I think—handed me a key card that looked almost like a tiny piece of the city itself. The check‑in was quick; no long queues, just a cheerful “welcome to Gdańsk” and a map of the nearest tram stops. My apartment had a balcony that looked out over the winding street, where the scent of fresh pierogi from a nearby stall would drift down. The bed was surprisingly plush for a four‑star place, and the bathroom had a glass shower that let the city light spill in. Honestly, it felt more like staying in a local’s home than a hotel.
When I stepped outside, the street hustle was a different kind of soundtrack. The sound of trams clanging on the rails, a distant jazz club in the Old Town, and the occasional shout of fishermen on the harbor all blended into a living collage. I parked my car in the small underground lot that’s a bit pricey but worth it for the safety and the close proximity—no need to worry about a midnight walk in the dark. The noise from the nearby market was a gentle hum, not a roar; you could hear the chatter in Polish and the clink of cutlery from the food stalls. If you’re a night owl, the area stays lively until 2 a.m., but the apartment’s insulation does a decent job of muffling the street. I do wish the kitchen had a coffee maker; it was a bit bare, but the local supermarket on Długa Grobla is just a five‑minute walk and stocked everything you’d need for a quick breakfast.
What really made this stay special was the neighborhood’s vibe. I walked to the 2nd‑floor café on ul. Słowackiego, where they serve a cappuccino that’s as strong as the city’s history. The next door shop sells handmade lace—Gdańsk is known for that—and I ended up buying a small piece for my sister. On Sunday, I took a stroll down the waterfront, and the harbor lights reflected off the water, giving the whole city a golden hue. In the evenings, the street lamps cast a warm glow on the old brick buildings, and you could hear the faint echo of a violin from a nearby bar. The hotel’s staff also tipped me off to a hidden gem of a bakery on ul. Mielna, where the rye bread was to die for. If you’re planning a trip in late spring, expect the streets to be bustling with tourists; the city feels alive and inviting. For a quieter stay, early autumn or late winter is the way to go—traffic’s softer, and the city’s lights are less dazzling. All in all, NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Nowa Grobla felt like a home base that let me experience Gdańsk on my own terms, with just enough local flavor to make it unforgettable.
Early hotels booking in Gdansk requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches and rich maritime culture.

I would put in the directions to turn right at the rectangle as we didn’t know which apartment block it was in the dark.
What could be improved: Sofa bed should state sleep 1 person, we thought it was 2 and had to rearrange our sleeping situationKristina from United Kingdom – 3 June 2024 (8/10)
Location was very good, new build apartment, quiet location, walking distance to the center. Also shower room was 10/10.
What could be improved: Was too hot, no air con, only 1 fan, struggled to sleep at night due to heat. Also the bedrooms are very bright, curtains are light and sun comes trought it. We used sitting room as a bedroom as well, same thing with curtains.
It would be nice to have toileters like shampoo. Also in the kitchen there was only sugar and salt.
Small things like oil or a coffee would be appreciated.Davide from Italy – 9 December 2023 (9/10)
Comfortable and warm flat in a nice position. More than enough space for 4 people. Easy access and private parking included. Definitely suggested overall.
What could be improved: A space for the wet shoes close to the door should be a must considering the long and cold winter season in Gdańsk. Having the most basic package of tea and sugar, or alternatively some coffee would have been appreciated.Barbara from Canada – 21 September 2023 (10/10)
