NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Angielska Grobla Overview
First time I walked into NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Angielska Grobla, the scent of brine and fresh pastries from the nearby bakery hit me before I even hit the lobby. It’s a 4‑star nest tucked into św. Barbary 12/14, right where the street meets the old town’s cobbles. Honestly, the first thing that caught my eye was the little wooden door that opens into a surprisingly bright hallway, and then the staff—one of them a young woman with a cheeky grin—handed me a digital key fob and said, “Welcome, you’ll love it here.” I mean, she was actually super helpful, explaining the two‑hour free parking on the block and how the elevator can be a bit slow at night but the lobby’s constant hum keeps the city’s buzz at bay. After that, I stepped into my apartment, and it felt like a home away from home. The walls are thick, so the clatter from the street and the occasional honk of the tram fade into a low, steady drone—great for sleep. The bed’s sheets are crisp, the linens have a nice weight, and there’s even a small, hand‑woven rug that adds a touch of local flair. I could hear the sea from the balcony, a faint salty breeze mixing with the scent of coffee from the café across the street. The apartment’s kitchenette is compact but functional—enough for a quick espresso and a bagel, which I found at the “Cukiernia Kaja” just a block away. I’d say the Wi‑Fi is reliable, though I didn’t need it much during my stay; I was too busy watching the sunrise over the Gdańsk skyline.
Back in the apartment, the living area is cozy, with a small sofa that’s perfect for curling up with a book, and a TV that offers free Polish channels. I spent a lazy Sunday morning scrolling through the local events calendar—there’s always something happening in the old town around that time, from art fairs to live jazz on the waterfront. If I wanted to explore, I’d hop on the tram at the corner of Św. Barbary and Staszic, which takes me straight to the cathedral. The check‑in process was quick, and the staff let me know the breakfast hours so I could catch the early coffee before the city fully wakes up. By mid‑afternoon, the noise level from the street dropped as night fell, and the only sounds were the distant gulls and the occasional wave. I took a short stroll to the harbor, where the dockworkers were still at it even in the quiet of early evening, and that’s when I realized how well the hotel keeps its peace. If you’re traveling in July, the harbor is bustling, but the hotel’s location means you’re not inside the noise—just close enough to feel the pulse. And if you’re visiting in winter, the streets are still lively enough to keep you from feeling too isolated. All in all, NORDBYHUS Apartamenty Angielska Grobla feels like a welcoming, well‑placed spot that’s just a few steps from the best of Gdańsk, with the kind of comfort that turns a short stop into a memorable home base.

Excellent location in a very nice development of apartments. Very clean area, close to the water, restaurants and old town. Lovely apartment, kitchen was good and the shower was probably the best I have experienced. Great stay in Gdańsk.
What could be improved: Bed and sofa weren’t the most comfortable, could probably do with an upgrade but nothing major.
