Maya’s Flats & Resorts – Staromiejski Apartments Overview

Maya’s Flats & Resorts – Staromiejski Apartments sits right on 22 Długi Targ, smack in the middle of Gdańsk’s Old Town. I walked in on a rainy Thursday, the kind of drizzle that makes the cobblestones shine like wet glass. The front desk was warm and a bit chaotic—staff juggling the last-minute check‑outs while a tourist couple tried to find the elevator. They greeted me with a cheeky smile and handed over a keycard that glowed like a green LED. Check‑in was surprisingly quick, but I can’t help feeling that they’re still learning how to match the speed of the city’s pulse.

As soon as I stepped into my room, the scent of fresh linen mixed with a hint of sea breeze from the nearby Motława River. The walls were painted a soft teal, giving a calming vibe, and the bed—well, it was a king with a mattress that actually remembered my body’s quirks from the last trip. The bathroom was sleek, and the shower had a great water pressure—no lukewarm surprises. I spent the first hour scrolling through the Wi‑Fi password, which was a tad confusing because the admin panel was a bit outdated, but the staff called to double‑check and fixed it in minutes. The flat’s layout felt like a cozy apartment more than a hotel, which is the whole point of the “Flats & Resorts” branding. You’ll find a small living area with a sofa that’s perfect for a quick nap, and a kitchenette that comes with a kettle, a coffee maker, and, surprisingly, a decent selection of local spices—makes it easy to whip up a quick pierogi night.

The location is a goldmine for anyone who wants to be close to the action but not drowned in noise. The next street over is Stefan Batory Street, where you’ll find a chain of cafés that serve espresso strong enough to wake you up from any jet lag. I lingered for a while in the courtyard, where the old stone walls creak softly as wind passes through the arches. The only real disturbance came from the nightlife on Gdańsk’s main square, but the building’s walls hold the sound pretty well. If you’re a light sleeper, I’d suggest getting a room on the upper floor—there’s a faint hum from the city below, but it’s more like the distant murmur of a conversation than a full‑on party. Parking is a bit of a hassle; the nearest spot is a public lot on Mariacka Street, a three‑minute walk. I paid a small fee and got a key fob that works for the entire building, so no fiddling with parking ticket machines later on.

Eating out nearby is a highlight, honestly. The stone‑wall café on Długi Targ, just a few steps from the hotel, serves the best coffee I’ve had in Poland. Their croissants are flaky, buttery, and a little too sweet, but that’s part of the charm. A short walk across the bridge leads you to the old port area, where you can find a market stall selling fresh fish—there’s a particular vendor on Gdańska that sells herring that’s still a local favorite. I tried the pierogi with smoked salmon, and it was a surprisingly simple, yet delicious experience. If you’re after something more upscale, the restaurant on the 5th floor of the opposite building gives a great view of the city lights at night—though the price tag is a bit steep for a first‑time visitor.

All in all, Maya’s Flats & Resorts – Staromiejski Apartments feels like a hidden gem that only locals would know. The staff may be a little behind on tech, but they’re genuinely friendly, and the rooms are comfortable enough for a quick getaway or a longer stay. The location—right on Długi Targ—lets you step out into Gdańsk’s heart and back into a calm, private space. If you’re planning a trip during the summer, make sure to book early; the area sees a surge of tourists, and the parking lot can fill up fast. But after a day of exploring the Old Town, I found the place to be a sweet, quiet refuge that feels like home—well, a home that’s a few floors up from the bustling streets. And that’s exactly what you’re looking for when you’re in a city that’s as alive as it is historic.

The VIEW was spectacular! It is a corner flat and had lovely windows on the main gorgeous pedestrian street of Old Town Gdansk! Beautiful decor and spacious flat! It had everything we needed.

What could be improved: It was perfect and could not be any better!

  • Thomas from Australia – 6 April 2025 (10/10)

This was such an impressive apartment. It is right in the centre of the action, which I didn't realise when booking and is something I normally avoid. But I loved it. I stayed in early-mid February so perhaps a little less busy and noisy than at other times of the year. The apartment itself is beautiful and so well presented. The living room space is really, really nice, the bathroom was fantastic (the bath was great to unwind in of a night time) and I found the bed nice and comfortable. The room was also secure and the instructions to get in and get the keys were fantastic. The kitchen and utensils were great and easy to make something in the apartment. That said, it is right near so many restaurants and all the wonderful sights of Gdansk. I would highly recommend staying here.

What could be improved: There was one night where one of the bars next door started playing quite loud music at about 12.30am. After about 20 minutes they seemed to shut the door properly and the noise wasn't too bad. Any experienced traveler, though, would travel with earplugs. And if you aren't, or you forget, the hosts actually provide them for you. So they really do go that extra step for their guests

The apartment was lovely and clean and well equipped. Location was extremely good being in the heart of the main street.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Пустовалова from Poland – 15 December 2024 (10/10)

This was the best place to stay! I highly recommend it. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail, the apartment has everything you might need and even more. The location is simply amazing, on the main pedestrian street, inside the sights.

What could be improved: This simply does not exist.

Perfect location in the heart of Gdansk ! The view and city life is outside of windows . Amazing views. You really feel like you are in Europe full of history including the cobble stone streets . Interior is very relaxing and organized so well. Having a bathtub was huge bonus for me . Immaculate . I will definitely return to this place next time in Poland for longer period of time . The host Ewa it’s super easy to reach and very pleasant. Thank you thank you 🙏🏻

What could be improved: No elevator but that is normal for historic place . Inside it’s all renovated .

  • Åsa from Sweden – 4 September 2024 (9/10)

Convenient and fresh. Great location in the city center. Nice design. Great kitchen facilities.

What could be improved: A bit noisy from the street. Not a very big bed.

  • Susan from United Kingdom – 15 September 2023 (9/10)

Lovely apartment which was well equipped for our weekend stay. Perfect location in the old town and to get to visit all the tourist attractions. Really helpful having contact from owners who answered any questions we had, promptly.

What could be improved: No issues with property. Only downside was the noise from the main street at night with windows opened. We had to keep windows open because of the warm temperatures which of course didn’t help.

  • Mathias from Sweden – 10 April 2023 (9/10)

Really nice Apartment, with a nice host. I asked for more pillows, no problem. I asked for it to be cooler, no problem. TV has Youtube, streaming. Everything you need, clean. In the middle of the old town.

What could be improved: Don't be fooled by the dark stairwell. Once inside the apartment you'll forget about it.
