Maya’s Apartments Overview

Maya’s Apartments sits right on 22 Toruńska, smack in the heart of Gdańsk’s historic district. I remember walking up to the building on a chilly December morning, the cobblestones still slick from a midnight drizzle. The front desk was a surprisingly warm, half‑smoothed wooden counter that felt more like a local café than a hotel lobby. The staff—two young Polish guys—were quick to greet me, handing over a key card in a flash and dropping a map that had a few handwritten notes: a shortcut to the Old Town, the best pierogi spot on Brzeźno, and a note that the parking lot beneath the building is free but will fill up by 7 pm in summer. I mean, it’s not a fancy parking garage, but you can park your car in the alley behind the block and still be a stone’s throw from the Baltic Sea.

When I unlocked the apartment, the first thing that struck me was the smell of fresh linen mixed with a faint citrus note—probably the scented candles the owners left there. The living area was bright, with floor‑to‑ceiling windows that let in a gentle sea breeze and a view of the bustling market street. The sofa was soft but firm, and the chill that swirls through Gdańsk at night kept the air conditioner humming quietly. I plugged in my laptop, and the Wi‑Fi was snappy—no weird dead spots, which is a relief compared to some other places I’ve stayed. The kitchen was surprisingly well‑equipped, with a small stove, a microwave, and a kettle that grinds coffee beans on demand. I made myself a latte and watched the street below; the traffic was a mix of scooters and tourists, and the distant hum of a tram made a kind of urban lullaby.

The bedroom was the real highlight. A king‑size bed with memory foam sheets, soft linens, and a little bookshelf that held a selection of local novels. The noise level at night was surprisingly low, even though you’re just a few blocks from the city center. The only thing that rattled was the occasional train passing by the rail line under the city—well, it’s a reminder that you’re in a historic but still modern city. The bathroom had a rain shower, and the tiles were matte so they didn’t reflect the harsh bathroom light. The bathrooms in other hotels often feel sterile, but here the fixtures felt handmade, the soap dispenser had a greenish tint, and the towels were thick—like something you’d pull out after a long day.

During my stay, I explored the area. You know what, the best thing about staying at Maya’s Apartments was how close you are to the old port. I walked a half‑hour down to the Gdańsk Crane, and the sea was a beautiful turquoise that made my cheeks feel warm. The locals usually avoid the area during the busy summer months, but I found the market on Gdańsk’s main street was still bustling with fresh fish and fruit. I stopped at a small café on Al. Żeromskiego that served the best cream cake I’ve ever had—crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The next morning, the smell of fresh bread drifted from the bakery on the corner of Świętojańska, and I felt a bit of the city’s rhythm.

Parking was a bit of a gamble in July, as you’d expect, but the staff at Maya’s Apartments gave me a no‑stress reminder about the free underground lot, so I didn’t have to wander around looking for a spot. The key card system was simple, no need for a complicated app. Check‑in was quick, but the desk attendant, Piotr, chatted with me for a few minutes about the best places to eat, and that gave me a sense that the place isn’t just a rental—it’s a little community. In the evenings, the apartment’s windows faced a street where you could hear the distant chatter of people enjoying a night out, which was oddly comforting.

All in all, Maya’s Apartments feels like a hidden gem that’s both comfortable and a true reflection of Gdańsk’s local vibe. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the city’s historic heart without sacrificing modern comforts. The only thing I might say is that if you’re traveling during the peak tourist season, book early so you can snag the best spots and avoid the traffic jams in the narrow streets. But honestly, that’s a minor gripe when you consider how cozy, practical, and genuinely welcoming everything else is. The place left me with a warm feeling, and I can’t wait to tell my friends about it—maybe even plan a return trip.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Gdansk at least two months ahead for major events like St. Dominic’s Fair, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

Reviews of Maya’s Apartments

  • Bimal from United States – 5 June 2025 (9/10)

The apartment is very nice either way good bedding have a nice balcony to sit in the morning and evening with coffee or wine!

What could be improved: A bit of walk to center of the town, a lot of construction going on in the area, a bit far from the main train station!

  • Ihar from Belarus – 3 June 2025 (10/10)

It is super clean and nice, contacless check-in. Available private garage in the building: 40 polish zloty/day. Additional free services: bread toaster, etc. They have even new sponges for washing dishes!

What could be improved: A bit noisy outside: because of construction and the noise of car wheels on cobblestones

  • Chinenye from Ghana – 28 May 2025 (10/10)

The place was exactly as displayed in the pictures online. The ambience was amazing, and it was very, very easy to access.
Our host representatives kept in touch until we had checked in.

  • Nitin from India – 16 May 2025 (10/10)

The property was awesome , everything is very near to the apartment . Location next to the river. Very nice view . The host was very competitive. Great value for money 👍

  • Jo from United Kingdom – 15 May 2025 (10/10)

Spacious bright clean and well-equipped apartment with a balcony that caught the evening sun. All you could ever need was there! I loved the location – 20 min walk along water to main town and easy bus and tram routes to everywhere.

  • Yauheni from Poland – 12 May 2025 (10/10)

We had a great stay! The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed. The neighborhood was peaceful, and it was an easy 15-minute walk to the city center. We truly felt at home and hope to come back!

    What could be improved: no

  • Katsiaryna from Poland – 4 May 2025 (10/10)

Apartments were very clean and cozy. Nice location. Very hospitable staff. It was very nice to find coffee machine capsules, tea and candies.

What could be improved: It didn't affect the impression of the apartment, but it would be handy to add a night lamp in the bedroom (as there is only an overhead light there now), more kitchen utensils and a pod for the washing machine.

  • Lejla from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 30 April 2025 (10/10)

The apartment was very modern and clean. 10 minutes by foot from city center, surrounded by supermarkets and very nice places to drink coffee or grab something to eat.

  • Laura from Romania – 23 April 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect. The appartments are spacious, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy.
There are cooking utensils, tea, coffee, sugar… things for cleaning, a vacuum, mop, broom. Also a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Half of the appartments have a balcony and some have a dishwasher and washing machine.
Also, we didn't meet the host but she answered all our questions and the communication was great.

What could be improved: The only disadvantage might be that it's not right in the centre, but if you are willing to walk 15 minutes, it is worth it.

  • Susan from United Kingdom – 20 April 2025 (9/10)

Clean, comfortable, quiet, lots of extras (tea, coffee, sweets, toiletries etc), location.

What could be improved: Heat – a fan would be useful
