Mariacka Apartment Old Town Gdansk Overview
Mariacka Apartment Old Town Gdansk sits right on the cobblestones of MARIACKA 28/30 5, a stone’s throw from the motława River and the iconic Gdańsk Crane. I remember stepping off the tram at Rondo Trzech Krzyży and finding the building’s white façade almost like a breath of fresh air amid the older brick houses. The check‑in was surprisingly quick; a cheerful local woman greeted us in Polish, but her English was fluent enough that we didn’t miss a beat. She handed over a small key card that slid into the lock without a fuss, and a tiny handwritten note with a “Witamy” and a recommendation for the best pierogi spot “Pod Łokciem” (just a block away). It was the kind of personal touch that makes you feel like you’re staying in a friend’s home rather than a hotel.
The apartment itself is a blend of modern comfort and historic charm. The living area is bathed in natural light from the north‑east sash windows, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a coffee machine that roasts beans fresh every morning—there’s nothing like the scent of brewed espresso mingling with the salty breeze that drifts in from the river. The bed is surprisingly plush, the linens crisp, and the bathroom has a deep soaking tub that feels like a luxurious escape after a day of exploring the Old Town’s winding lanes. I found the space surprisingly quiet, even during the summer rush, because the building is a few stories up and the street below is largely residential. Parking was a bit of a hunt; there’s no dedicated garage, but the nearby “Parking Młyńska” offers a few spots for a small fee, and most of the time, I parked on the street and walked the short distance to the apartment.
When I walked around, the street was alive with the chatter of tourists and locals alike, and you could hear the distant hum of the ferry terminal. I took a detour down Dluga Street, where a small bakery—“Cukiernia Słodka” – offered freshly baked rye bread that still smelled of the oven as I walked by. If you’re planning a visit, the best time to stay is during the shoulder seasons (late spring or early autumn); the city is less crowded than in July, but the weather is still warm enough to enjoy an evening stroll by the river. In the evenings, the glow of lanterns along the cobblestones feels almost magical, though the occasional street performer’s trumpet can carry a bit farther than you might expect. All in all, Mariacka Apartment Old Town Gdansk feels like a well‑placed anchor in a city full of history, and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to feel truly immersed in Gdańsk’s everyday rhythm.
