MAK Apartment Grobla – free parking – 3 rooms Overview
MAK Apartment Grobla is tucked into a quiet corner of Gdańsk’s Old Town, just a stone‑throw from the bustling Motława River and the historic St. Mary’s Church. I found the building itself charming—a modest brick façade that looks like a postcard, but once you step inside, you’re greeted by a surprisingly airy space. The free parking on the back lot is a lifesaver; most places in the Old Town are a scramble for a spot, and I didn’t have to wander in a rush after a long flight. Check‑in was smooth—no long line, just a friendly front desk person who handed me a key card with a smile. The apartment itself is a three‑room apartment, so I had plenty of room to spread out my luggage and even set up a little workspace. The living area is cozy, with a comfy sofa that feels like a hug and a tiny kitchenette that’s just enough to boil a pot of tea or make a quick sandwich. I was pleasantly surprised that the Wi‑Fi was actually strong, even though the building is a few floors up from the street; the signal was spot on for streaming that documentary about the Polish coast I had pre‑downloaded.
I spent most of my first afternoon wandering to the nearby St. Jędrzej Street. There’s this little bakery, MAK Apartment Grobla mentioned in the guidebook, that sells fresh rye rolls that smell like warm bread and just a hint of caramel. I grabbed a roll, a latte, and a bite of pierogi—classic potato and mushroom, honestly the best I’ve had in Poland. The street itself is a maze of narrow alleys, each with its own vibe; the sound of the river, the distant bells from St. Mary’s, and the chatter of tourists all blend into a soundtrack that feels very Gdańsk. I even took a detour to the MAK Apartment Grobla neighborhood market, where locals sell fresh fish and a variety of pickled vegetables. The noise level in the apartment was modest; the only thing that kept me awake were the occasional evening footsteps of other residents on the floor above—nothing louder than a normal city hum. By 10 pm, the streets were almost empty, just the occasional couple walking hand in hand, and the apartment’s windows were dark, giving me a sense of peace that I didn’t expect from a city so close to the harbor.
On the second day, I tried to get a feel for the neighborhood’s nightlife—well, Gdańsk isn’t exactly a party town, but there are a few spots worth checking out. I hopped over to the MAK Apartment Grobla area and found a small bar on Jagiellońska Street that serves craft beer and has a great selection of Polish wines. The bartender, a local guy who knew my name because I’d mentioned the apartment earlier, even gave me a tip on which beer to try. I ended the night with a walk along the Motława, where the lights of the old ships reflect off the water, and the city’s history feels almost tangible. I came back to the apartment with a faint buzz of the tourist week’s end traffic lingering in the air. The free parking was again a blessing, and I didn’t have to worry about finding a spot after a late night out. Overall, MAK Apartment Grobla feels like a home base that’s close enough to everything but far enough to give you a break from the bustle. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience Gdańsk in a relaxed, authentic way.
Best hotels in Gdansk range from charming boutique properties in the historic Main Town to elegant waterfront hotels with stunning views of the Motława River and Gothic architecture.

The apartment had excellent location. A few minutes walk to the old town, plus grocery store very close. Also the parking spot underground was really close to the entrance of the apartment.
The beds were very comfortable.
The host was super friendly.
What could be improved: It would have been nice if the second bedroom also had darkening blinds – it got very bright early in the morning.Julė from Lithuania – 21 July 2023 (10/10)

The owner is friendly and always in touch.I liked the location, the convenience of parking, the presence of an oven and two separate bedrooms.
What could be improved: A small number of towels, only one per person. No disposable slippers, because the floor is unheated. Not enough thorough cleaning in the bathroom and the floorTomas from Lithuania – 30 November 2022 (9/10)
