Live & Travel Old Town Apartments Overview

Live & Travel Old Town Apartments sits on Tartaczna 3, right in the heart of Gdańsk’s historic old town. I stumbled upon it while wandering past the cobblestones, looking for a place that felt like a home rather than a hotel. The building itself is a charming 19th‑century tenement with a little brick façade that instantly pulls you in. Once inside, you’re greeted by a surprisingly airy lobby that smells faintly of pine from the fresh linens in the rooms. The staff is friendly—one of them even handed me a map with a handwritten note that the best pier for sunset is just a ten‑minute walk to the left, through the narrow lane that locals call Szparowa.

The apartment itself is a cozy two‑bedroom, fully equipped space that feels more like a lived‑in loft than a sterile hotel room. The living area is big enough for a sofa, a small table, and a TV, but the real star is the kitchenette: a sleek countertop, a mini fridge, a kettle, and even a set of non‑stick pans. I found myself whipping up a quick breakfast of eggs and toast while listening to the distant hum of the city. The windows offer a great view of the old town’s rooftops, and at night, the streetlights flicker like fireflies. The bed is a decent mattress—soft but supportive, the sheets feel like a cloud, and the pillows are just the right firmness. Honestly, you’ll sleep like a baby on nights when the town is quiet; the only noise is the occasional dog barking from a neighbor’s balcony.

Check‑in was straightforward, no long lines, and the front desk staff was super helpful. They mentioned that the building has a small underground parking spot that you can reserve for a fee—great for those with cars. The only thing that gave me a second thought was the noise from the street during rush hour, but the apartment’s thick windows and an extra set of curtains help block most of it. If you’re traveling in the summer, expect the piazza outside to be bustling with tourists and street performers, but you can find a quiet corner for a coffee shop or a quick bite. The nearby Hala Mirowska is a hidden gem for fresh fish and pierogi; I had a bowl of pierogi with mushroom sauce that still tastes like the day I had it. Also, if you’re into art, the Galeria Sztuki Nowej is a stone’s throw away, and the museum’s free entry on certain days is a thoughtful touch.

What really makes this place special is the little touches that only locals would notice. The hallway has a small wooden shelf with a stack of city guidebooks that locals recommend—one of them suggested the Westerplatte memorial as a must‑visit, and I’ll be sure to check it out next time. The Wi‑Fi password is printed on a sticky note beside the entrance, and the apartment comes with a small set of kitchen utensils—no need to buy a plastic fork just for a quick sandwich. I mean, it’s the kind of place where you feel at ease to leave a thank‑you note on the fridge in a future stay. If you’re looking for something that feels like a slice of Gdańsk’s everyday life, Live & Travel Old Town Apartments is where you’ll want to stay. It’s not just a place to sleep; it’s a small, welcoming chapter in the story of this beautiful city.

Gdansk’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with Baltic charm, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant Polish coastal city.

Reviews of Live & Travel Old Town Apartments

  • Thomas from United Kingdom – 17 May 2025 (9/10)

The facilities, location and the space was perfect for us

What could be improved: We were unlucky that the neighbours above us were throwing parties on Friday and Saturday so it was difficult for us to go bed with our son.

  • Caroline from United Kingdom – 22 March 2025 (10/10)

Ideal location and close to everything, within walking distance to old town.

What could be improved: No toaster and curtains very thin.

  • Christopher from Czech Republic – 11 February 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is very near to almost all attraction. It is on the 4th floor. The building has elevator. Safe area. Calm and quiet. Sebastian and the team are very nice and they always respond to the messages. The apartment is well equipped. It was a great stay and highly recommend 🙂

What could be improved: I hope the cleaner will mop / vacuum the floor thoroughly.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Sarah from United Kingdom – 19 September 2024 (9/10)

Clean, secure, quiet. Well furnished. Very comfy bed. Plenty of wardrobe space. Great location – close to river side and station. Great communication from owner and also got a message that we could check in 11.30 instead of 3pm which was good as we arrived early in gdansk. Fully stocked zabka shop located underneath with reasonable prices.

What could be improved: Not that we didn't like things but recommendations would be better curtains. The ones in the apartment are thin and allow light in from very early. A blind or black out ones would be ideal.
Also it was very hot. Although there was a fan in the apartment it was still very humid especially as the sun comes through all day.

  • Caitlin from United Kingdom – 15 June 2024 (9/10)

Lovely little holiday apartment with everything you could need. Able to self check in early which was good. Would stay again.

  • Sandra from France – 12 March 2024 (8/10)

Location. The apartment was as expected and the host was very helpful.

What could be improved: The wifi was weak off and on which was annoying. But overall the apartment and location was good.
