La Jaguara artistic house in the center of Gdansk Overview

La Jaguara artistic house in the center of Gdansk sits at 11 Aleja Generała Józefa Hallera, right where the old town’s cobblestones give way to the modern pulse of the city. When I pulled up in the early afternoon, the street was already humming with locals and tourists, the scent of freshly baked rye bread drifting from a nearby bakery. The check‑in was a breeze; the front desk clerk, a friendly Polka‑accented woman, welcomed me with a warm smile and handed me a key that was already engraved with the hotel’s initials. I mean, you could almost hear the hum of a nearby jazz bar through the walls, but the lobby was quiet enough to have a conversation without shouting. Parking was a relief, too – there’s a small underground garage just a block away, and street parking is plentiful if you’re willing to pull up to the corner of Gdańsk and Motława.

The room itself feels like a living painting. The walls are adorned with contemporary Polish art, and the bed, with its crisp white linens, looks like a cloud you can actually land on. I was pleasantly surprised by the little touches, like a local tea sampler and a handwritten note in Polish that read, “Witamy w Gdańsku!” The bathroom, though compact, is spotless – the shower head is crystal‑clear, and the soap is scented like a summer garden. The Wi‑Fi is fast, and the flat‑screen TV has a decent selection of Polish movies, which is a nice touch for someone who wants to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The only downside? The bed slats are a bit too firm for my taste, but honestly, it’s a minor quirk that doesn’t ruin the overall vibe.

Outside, you can’t help but notice how the hotel’s artistic flair spills onto the street. A couple of cafés line the square, and I found myself sipping a latte at a tiny place called “Złoty Kwiat” while watching street performers. The noise level is a balance – the main square is lively, especially in the evenings, but the building’s insulation keeps the din at a manageable level, so I could actually read the book I’d brought. The hotel’s location is a short walk to St. Mary’s Church, where the late‑afternoon bells echo against the medieval stone, and a quick tram ride brings you to the Motława River, where you can stroll in a gentle breeze. For those traveling during the peak summer season, the area can get a bit crowded, but the hotel staff is always ready with a tip about the best times to hit the old town’s markets without the crowds. All in all, La Jaguara feels like a hidden gem that really knows how to blend art with comfort, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants an authentic slice of Gdańsk life without the generic tourist traps.

Gdansk hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Poland’s maritime capital, known for its rich amber trade history and Solidarity movement heritage.

Reviews of La Jaguara artistic house in the center of Gdansk

  • Jenny from Poland – 9 June 2025 (7/10)

Good location with a heart if it comes to how it was designed. Fits the amount of people it mentions and provides to some privacy.

What could be improved: The beds are unfortunately not comfortable, the mattresses are uncomfortable. And that is a major issue as it’s a nice space not giving you the rest you need. The amount of stairs indicates that this was more of a loft workshop space, then a house. The parking spot is a very inconvenient to exit due to all the foot, bike and car traffic, opening and closing the gate takes a lot of time.

  • Klara from Czech Republic – 11 May 2025 (10/10)

We had a wonderful holiday in Poland, made even more special by our three-night stay in this fantastic house. As two elderly couples, we truly appreciated the inspiring design, the exceptional comfort, and the warm hospitality of the hosts. The apartment had everything we needed—spotlessly clean, perfectly located, and incredibly comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for more.
    Highly recommended! Thank you!

  • Egle from Lithuania – 8 March 2025 (10/10)

New, clean, much space, original art, all details well thought out.

  • Gayle from Australia – 6 March 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful place to stay in Gdansk, especially handy with a parking space. Clean, spacious and private upstairs flat walkable to some nice restaurants and easy to get tram into the centre.

What could be improved: The trains are very noisy in the back bedroom which made it difficult to sleep.

  • Natallia from United Kingdom – 17 November 2024 (10/10)

A big house; very clean; smells well (it is important for me);nice design; everything what you need.
Convenient location so you can get both to the sea beach and the old center.

What could be improved: No complaints

  • Trupti from India – 19 August 2024 (10/10)

Oh where do I start, the place , location, the art house and most importantly the hosts Magda and Javier. Such a warm welcome and such kind couple. Every bit and corner of the house has been built so well with perfection. The facilities , kitchenware, beds, sofa, internet, parking name it and you have that in the house. Truly we felt at home. We felt at ease. 100/100 for the house and the stay.

What could be improved: This option should be removed for this property 😁✅ there is nothing that we didn't like.

  • Paul from Australia – 14 May 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: noisy location if u open the windows

  • Lorenzo from Italy – 7 February 2024 (10/10)

    Super, big and well equiped

  • Gerard from United Kingdom – 17 September 2023 (10/10)

I endorse the previous comments regarding this house, it is a modern attractive house which ticks all the boxes. We were met by the owner's mother, who despite her limited English was very helpful and absolutely charming. The following day we met the owners who were lovely and helpful. The house is near the Baltic Opera house from where you can catch a tram into the centre of Gdansk. Just behind the house is the Gdansk Politechnika train station where you can catch the SKM train to Sopot etc. It is our intention to return to Gdansk and if we do we will stay at this house again.
This house is one of the best we have stayed in in Poland.
Two things of note about the house. The living area is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the second floor. The only thing on the ground floor is an entrance hall, So, if stairs are an issue this may not be the house for you. Secondly, you go through the first bedroom to reach the second bedroom, so if total privacy is required between the two bedrooms, again this may not be the house for you. If these are not an issue for you, I can highly recommend this vacation house.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Amit from Norway – 27 July 2022 (9/10)

Fantastic house and excellent location. Excellent artistic look! The house was fully equipped, neat and clean. A warm welcome by the owner on arrival was a nice gesture. Although the air conditioners if worked would have been nice, but the table fans did the job, so no complaints. The owner was nice and quick to provide extra table fan which was helpful.
