Kobza Haus Old Town Overview
Kobza Haus Old Town is tucked in a lively corner of Gdańsk, right on Stągiewna 2/3, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Motława River and that ever‑present Gdańsk Mermaid statue. The moment you step into the lobby, you’re hit with a mix of old‑world charm and a surprisingly modern vibe—think polished wooden floors, subtle brass fixtures, and a hint of sea salt in the air from the nearby harbor. The staff greets you in a mix of Polish and English, and the check‑in process is almost instant; you get your key card, a map of the city, and a recommendation for a bite at the pier’s famous pierogi stand. Honestly, it feels like you’re back in a small town where everyone knows your name, even if you’re just a tourist.
The rooms are a sweet compromise between comfort and character. I stayed in the third‑floor suite, and the view from the balcony—yes, they actually have balconies—was a subtle postcard of the old town’s cobblestones and the blue of the Baltic. The bed was plush with a generous amount of high‑quality linens; the pillow options were a thoughtful touch—memory foam, down, or a firmer hybrid. The bathroom had a deep‑soaked tub that looked like it was designed for a spa, but it actually functions as a regular bath, which is perfect for a quick rinse before dinner. Noise-wise, it’s quiet after midnight, though you’ll still hear the distant hum of the city and occasional footsteps from the hallway—nothing to worry about, just a normal city soundscape.
What really sets this place apart is the little details you only notice after a few nights. The free minibar is stocked with local Polish beers and a selection of craft ciders, which is a nice nod to the region’s brewing heritage. They even put out a freshly baked loaf of rye bread every morning—there’s that unmistakable smell of yeast, and it pairs wonderfully with the local coffee you can pick up in the corner café. Parking is a breeze; there’s a small underground lot just a block away, and you can even justify a few extra euros for a reserved spot if you’re traveling with a car. When it comes to dining, the in‑house restaurant serves classic Polish dishes with a twist—think pierogi stuffed with wild mushrooms or a modern take on “Kaczka po pomorskiej” (Pomeranian duck). The staff often recommends the best times to hit the local bars on St. Marii street—late afternoon for a relaxed drink, or early evening when the crowd starts to thicken.
If you’re planning a trip during the holiday season, expect the city to be buzzing with tourists, and the hotel’s front desk will be handling a lot of bookings—give yourself a little extra time to check in. Otherwise, early mornings are perfect for a quiet walk along the river, and the hotel’s proximity to the Old Town means you’ll be right where the action is without feeling overwhelmed. All in all, Kobza Haus Old Town feels like a comfortable, well‑placed home base that captures the heart of Gdańsk without trying too hard to be a big‑brand hotspot. I left feeling relaxed and a little more connected to this vibrant city, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants the charm of the old town with the perks of a modern stay.

I loved the hotel, even though bed and furniture were old, it was very comfortable.
The best shower ever!
Breakfast was amazing, as were staff.
Location was perfect.
It was unfortunate that there was building work going on in the adjacent building. This was extremely noisy and unsettling, so it was difficult to have quiet times in the room. I had to go out as the drilling and banging noises were becoming very stressful. Staff continually apologised for this.
I had initially booked a standard double room, and was informed on arrival that I had received a free upgrade due to the building work noise. But I am not clear if the room I was allocated to was a step up. It did feel like a standard double room. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
However, overall, and apart from the noise from building work, I do feel the hotel is comfortable, safe, well located and has lovely, helpful staff.
