Kamienica 22 Old Town Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Kamienica 22 Old Town feels like stepping into one of those perfectly preserved European postcards — except this one’s real, and you get to sleep here. The building sits right on Panieńska Street in Gdańsk’s historic heart, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if they’d planned it centuries ago (which, in a way, they did). This four-star property has that authentic Polish townhouse charm that makes you forget you’re staying in a hotel rather than visiting a well-connected local friend.

The Heart of Old Town

You know what’s brilliant about this spot? You’re literally surrounded by everything that makes Gdańsk magical — the colorful merchant houses, cobblestone streets, and that famous Neptune Fountain are all within a few minutes’ walk. I mean, couples consistently rate the location 9.5 out of 10, and after spending time here, I get why. The Main Town Hall and St. Mary’s Church are practically neighbors, and when you want to explore the waterfront or grab dinner along the Motława River, you’re already there. It’s the kind of location where you can duck back to your room between sightseeing without it feeling like a trek.

Sleep Quality That Actually Delivers

Here’s something that surprised me — the beds are genuinely exceptional. I’ve stayed in plenty of historic buildings where charm comes at the expense of comfort, but Kamienica 22 somehow nails both. The rooms manage to feel authentically old-world while delivering modern comfort levels that’ll have you sleeping better than you do at home. There’s something about the quiet here too; despite being in the center of everything, the thick walls keep the street noise to a minimum once you’re settled in for the night.

Breakfast Worth Waking Up For

The breakfast setup here actually impressed me more than I expected. They’ve got this buffet spread that covers all the bases — continental classics, vegetarian options, vegan choices, and even gluten-free selections. What I appreciated most was how they balance international expectations with local Polish touches. You’ll find familiar items alongside regional specialties, and the quality is consistently good rather than just filling space on a buffet table. It’s the kind of breakfast that sets you up properly for a day of exploring without feeling rushed or limited by dietary restrictions.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

There’s something telling about the fact that this place has more repeat guests than most other properties in the area. After staying here, I think it comes down to that rare combination of authentic atmosphere and reliable comfort. The staff clearly knows what they’re doing — they’re helpful without being intrusive, and they understand that guests want to experience real Gdańsk, not some sanitized tourist version. When you’re staying somewhere with a 9.6 location score in a city like this, you’re not just booking accommodation; you’re positioning yourself to experience the city the way it’s meant to be experienced. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to plan your next Gdańsk trip before you’ve even checked out.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Gdansk at least two months ahead for major events like St. Dominic’s Fair, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

Reviews of Kamienica 22 Old Town

  • Susan from Norway – 28 May 2025 (8/10)

The building is nice, rooms comfortable, and breakfast is excellent.

What could be improved: The desk is only staffed until 18. We received a code for the outside door and it didn’t work – we tried with pound signs, without, every possible combination about 20 times. Such a system needs to work every time.

  • Marilyn from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (8/10)

We liked that the hotel was close to the centre for sight seeing etc.

What could be improved: Breakfast area could do with more space.
Perhaps a trolley or small table to put used pots on. Not much variation in cereals and eggs were usually cold.

  • Monika from United Kingdom – 24 April 2025 (9/10)

Location, warm welcome, free tea and coffee for the guests in dinning are on the night time, comfortable beds

What could be improved: No availability for June 😉

  • Haflidi from Iceland – 17 April 2025 (9/10)

  • Braime from United Kingdom – 10 April 2025 (9/10)

Loved the lounge area with free drinks all day which was vital as the weather was so cold.

What could be improved: The room was adequate but a bit small as I was sharing with my grown up son and could have done with more space room 12.
You need to be fit all stairs and no lift.

  • Brandon from United States – 5 April 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location, close to everything. The receptionist today was so kind to let us leave our bag since our flight left later in the day. Very comfortable hotel and the free coffee at the reception was a nice plus. 😁

  • Marie from United Kingdom – 2 April 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location (near Old Town and the Filharmonia); good value for the money; good-size room with comfortable beds and excellent artwork on the walls; hearty breakfast; friendly, English-speaking staff.
