IBB Hotel Gdańsk Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to IBB Hotel Gdańsk on Długi Targ feels like stepping into the pages of a history book — but in the best possible way. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town, and I mean literally in the thick of things. The entrance from Mieszczańska Street is actually quite clever — it keeps you away from the main tourist crowds while still putting you seconds away from everything worth seeing. The hotel’s position offers an ideal balance between accessibility and tranquility.

Location That Actually Matters

You know what’s rare? A hotel that’s genuinely in the center without feeling like you’re sleeping in a museum gift shop. The location here is honestly exceptional — couples seem to get it, rating it 9.8 for romantic trips, and I can see why. You’re a two-minute walk from Neptune’s Fountain, the Crane, and all those gorgeous merchant houses that make Gdańsk’s waterfront so special. But here’s the thing — step inside the hotel and the tourist buzz fades to a comfortable hum. The surrounding streets offer endless exploration opportunities.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in struck that perfect balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character. Nothing felt forced or overly themed, which can be a problem in historic city centers. The windows — well, depending on which side you’re on — either give you views of the bustling square or the quieter courtyard. I actually preferred the courtyard side for sleeping, though the square views are pretty spectacular during the day. Each room is thoughtfully designed with both aesthetics and functionality in mind.

Breakfast and Practical Touches

Breakfast here is one of those pleasant surprises that makes you linger longer than planned. They’ve got the full spread — Continental, Full English, American style, plus solid vegetarian and vegan options that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The buffet setup works well, and honestly, starting your day with a proper meal before wandering Gdańsk’s cobblestone streets is pretty essential. Oh, and they have private parking on-site, which — trust me — is worth its weight in gold in this part of the city. The dining experience sets the tone for memorable days exploring the Old Town.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it handles being in such a prime location without losing its soul. The staff actually knows the neighborhood (not just the tourist highlights), and they’re genuinely helpful about timing your visits to avoid crowds or finding that perfect spot for dinner. The building itself has character — you can feel the history without it being heavy-handed about it. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because leaving feels premature. With a 9.0 rating, the hotel clearly resonates with travelers seeking authentic experiences in a historic setting.

Gdansk hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Poland’s maritime capital, known for its rich amber trade history and Solidarity movement heritage.

I use a walker and the staff were extremely helpful assisting me with stairs and a chair in the shower.
The only downside was that the floor in the shower was extremely slippery and the chair rolled around even with the brake on.
The room was large and comfortable, breakfast was very good. and a great locatrion, just around the corner from the main old town street. Will recommend.
