Hotel Hanza Overview
Hotel Hanza sits on Tokarska 6, right in the heart of the Old Town, where the cobblestones still whisper stories of fishermen and merchants. I remember stepping out of the tram at Dluga Street and feeling that instant pull of history—there’s a kind of charm that you can’t fake, and I felt it the moment I knocked on the brass door. The lobby is surprisingly airy, with a faint scent of fresh coffee and a mural that captures the Motława River at dusk. The staff—two friendly locals named Marek and Ania—grew me a digital key with a smile, and the check‑in was almost a breeze. They actually had a small quiz about the city for guests, which made me feel like I was part of a secret club.
When you step into the rooms, you get a quiet, almost whispered ambiance. The curtains are heavy, which is great because the street outside can get noisy, especially on the evenings when the night market on Gdańsk’s main square starts up. The bed is a solid, comfortable thing with linens that feel like a gentle hug. I found that the Wi‑Fi was decent, but if you’re a heavy downloader, you might want to plug in to the wall socket. The bathroom is sleek, with a rain shower that’s more than enough to wash away the day’s dust. I was a bit disappointed with the breakfast selection—there were a few pastries, but no fresh fruit or a decent coffee machine. But hey, you can always grab a proper breakfast at the café on Słowackiego Street, just a short walk away.
Parking is a bit of a mixed bag. There’s an underground garage right next to the hotel, but it’s a little cramped, and you have to navigate a maze of stairs. If you’re staying in the off‑peak season, you can get a spot on the street, but you’ll need a permit, so check in advance. The real perk is that the hotel has a small garden terrace—yes, a garden—where you can sit with a bottle of wine and listen to the distant hum of the tram line. The evenings can be a bit chilly, so bring a light jacket. I left the place with a warm memory of the smell of pierogies from a street vendor on Gdańsk’s Main Square, and the sound of laughing tourists mingling with the soulful notes from a nearby jazz club. If you’re looking for a spot that feels like it’s part of the city’s pulse, Hotel Hanza is a solid 4‑star choice that doesn’t just check the boxes—it feels like home.
Hotels near me in Gdansk offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Neptune’s Fountain, St. Mary’s Church, and the famous Long Market.

Reviews of Hotel Hanza
Tatiana from Germany – 9 June 2025 (9/10)
Very good location. Everything is near. But in the evening is a bit nosy from outside. So if you like a calm place and not nosy night – maybe you should keep a bit far from the center.
We had a top floor and wonderful view from the window. The staff was very polite and friendly. The breakfast is just excellent. Would very much recommend this hotel.Joanna from United Kingdom – 2 June 2025 (9/10)
