Granaria Riverside by Downtown Apartments Overview
Granaria Riverside by Downtown Apartments is tucked right on Chmielna, so the first thing you notice is that it’s practically a stone’s throw from the Old Town square – you can hear the bell tower’s chime echo through the cobblestones even while you’re still in the lobby. Check‑in was surprisingly breezy: the front desk clerk had already pulled up my reservation, just a few minutes after I walked in, and she slid me a keycard with a smile that felt more like a friendly nod than a formal greeting. She mentioned that the elevators are a bit slow in peak hours, so if you’re arriving early, just take the stairs – you’ll get a good workout and a view of the city’s skyline at sunrise. Parking is a bit of a hunt; the nearest public lot is a block away, but there’s a small paid spot on the street right outside the hotel – just make sure you’re ready to pay a quick fee before the meter runs out.
The room itself is where the real charm comes in. It’s a two‑bedroom flat‑style setup with a kitchenette that actually feels like a home, not a hotel kitchenette. The windows face the river, so when the wind picks up in the evenings you hear the gentle rush of the Vistula and the occasional gull calling – pretty soothing after a day of sightseeing. The bed is comfortable, and the sheets have that crisp, breathable feel that keeps you cool in the summer heat. I did notice a faint scent of old books from the nearby library, which I think adds to the cozy vibe. On the downside, the bathroom’s shower head is a bit older and doesn’t give a full spray, so if you’re a shower lover, you might want to bring your own shower gel. Noise-wise, the hotel is surprisingly quiet; the only traffic sounds come from the occasional delivery truck that makes its rounds at night – but it’s far enough away that it’s barely a hum.
Walking out onto the street, you’re immediately immersed in Gdańsk’s pulse. The street food stalls along Gdańsk’s waterfront are a must‑try – especially the pierogi with mushroom and cheese that I grabbed from a vendor on Jagiellońska. If you’re in the mood for a coffee, the little shop on Długa has a latte that’s actually good, and the barista knows your name after a few visits. The hotel’s location means you can hop on the tram to the Maritime Museum in twenty minutes, and the Old Town’s cobblestones are just a fifteen‑minute walk away, where you can wander into the market stalls and pick up a souvenir. The only real drawback is that the hotel doesn’t offer a breakfast buffet; they do have a small café on the ground floor, but it’s more of a grab‑and‑go spot. Still, the convenience of having a fully furnished kitchen means you can whip up a quick sandwich or a bowl of instant noodles any time you feel like it. All in all, Granaria Riverside by Downtown Apartments feels like a home base that lets you explore Gdańsk on your own terms, with a touch of local flavor that makes you feel like you belong in the city, even if just for a few nights.

Reviews of Granaria Riverside by Downtown Apartments
Sankha from India – 11 October 2024 (6/10)

What could be improved: The facilities are not provided completely. There was no washing machine. And heating did not workDarren from United Kingdom – 14 September 2024 (1/10)

What could be improved: Loud music till 4am building site starts at 6am the host blocked my number when complaining about the washing machine broken loud music that I could not here tv on max. Most of the stay was ruined don’t book if you don’t want to be disappointed as we were no sleep for days on end to get blocked no customer relations at all the river view was a building site nd the pictures advertised are false and don’t represent where you are staying a terrible experience from the startVirginia from Canada – 13 September 2024 (3/10)
I enjoyed that there was a kitchen..
What could be improved: The code to the door wouldn't work, there was no one who worked there to speak to quickly, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable, the space between the bed and wall was very narrow, we had to was sideways to get around it.Kerry from United Kingdom – 6 September 2024 (9/10)
Very clean apartment with everything that you could need. Fabulous location with bars and restaurants on your door step
What could be improved: The little apartment was so hot. There was a freestanding fan but it was very noisy and difficult to sleep with it on.Alessandra from Australia – 21 June 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is in a good location and it’s easy to access sites, bars and cafes. The kitchen was very well equipped and the bathroom was spacious. The bed and couch are comfortable and the balcony was lovely.
What could be improved: There was nothing we did not like.Artem from Ukraine – 24 February 2024 (9/10)
Good location. Dishwashing machine, coffee machine and capsules for it, tea bags, sugar… these things are little but so pleasure to find them in the room.

Päkkyrä from Finland – 9 July 2023 (9/10)
Location! Short trip to anywhere in the heart of Gdansk. And really close are many fantastic restaurants!
A lovely apartment with all the needed kitchen equipment and fast wifi (we used our own Google TV). The apartment even has 2 washing machines! One for dishes and one for clothes. The balcony is a nice place to spend some time with drinks and snacks when the weather allows. The air conditioning was really good, but it only changed the air (no cooling).
A small grocery store is right downstairs but we always took a morning walk to Biedronka (abt. 200m, other side of the river) to buy some breakfast. The selection is much better and is cheaper.
And of course, we love Gdansk. This was our 5th trip to the town.
What could be improved: The safety lock was confusing at first. It took a while to realise that you have to turn the key many times clockwise before the door opens. And of course, if I wanted to use the safety bars, I had to turn the key many times counterclockwise. But the door was basically impossible to break when the safety bars were in use. Familiarise the door functionality when you open it the first time.
Every morning town workers collected a lot of trash bins close to the hallway door. And the smell was awful. But that smell didn't reach the apartment, and the bins were emptied in a couple of hours.Jakub from United Kingdom – 4 January 2023 (1/10)
Nothing, you can’t even get to the building and the room is the size of a small match box…
What could be improved: intercom, locking system noice starting at 6AM !!!!Hanna from Poland – 15 August 2022 (5/10)
– the apartments itself is in a good state.
– it’s clean
– good location in the very city center
– interior of the apartments is cozy
– balcony is a good place to sit in the evening
What could be improved: – there is too warm in the apartments, but you
can’t sleep with open windows, because it’s too noisy outside
– the smell of cooking food from the area nearby is pretty strong
– pigeons on the balcony wake up after 4 am and it’s impossible to sleep because of them
– the room is really tiny, maximum for 2 people.
We booked for three people and from the photos it wasn’t clear that there is only two normal sleeping places. Also the towels and blankets were prepared only for two people
