GoldenRise Overview
GoldenRise sits on Wałowa 25/11, a quiet corner of Gdańsk that feels a world away from the bustling Stradom street, yet still close enough to catch the late‑afternoon tram to the Old Town. I first spotted the building when I was strolling past the old market square, and the soft gold façade caught my eye just as the sun was dipping behind the medieval rooftops. Inside, the lobby has a warm, almost nostalgic vibe – think worn leather chairs and a faint scent of sea salt that somehow lingers, even though the room’s air-conditioning is a bit loud during the summer heatwave. The check‑in desk is staffed by a young woman who, honestly, was one of the most welcoming people I’ve met in a hotel. She handed me a key card with a smile that made the whole process feel less like a transaction and more like a friendly hand‑shake. She also offered a map of the city, highlighting the best spots to grab pierogi, which was a lifesaver.
I stayed in a double room on the third floor, and the view was a pleasant surprise – a small, green courtyard that feels like a secret garden in the middle of a city that’s usually buzzing. The bed was a bit too firm for my taste, but the sheets were crisp and the pillows were fluffy enough to make up for it. The bathroom had a glass shower that let in a bit of the courtyard’s cool breeze, which was a nice touch on hot days. I noticed a small, handwritten sign on the wall that said, “Remember to turn off the lights, the electricity bill is a bit high.” It felt like a local touch, almost like the staff was trying to keep the place sustainable. Parking was a bit of a hassle – you have to walk a block down to the public parking lot, and it’s a bit cramped, but the staff offered a discount if you booked in advance, which saved me a few bucks. The noise level was pretty low; only the occasional car passing by on the main street, and the building’s walls kept the city’s nightlife from seeping in, so I slept like a log. I did, however, hear the distant hum of a delivery truck at 2 a.m. – not a huge deal, but something to be aware of if you’re a light sleeper.
The real charm of GoldenRise is its location and the small, personal touches that make you feel like you’re staying with a friend rather than a corporate hotel. The street outside is lined with a few local cafés that serve the best coffee in town – one of them, “Kawa i Kawa,” has a tiny outdoor seating area where you can watch the sunrise over the harbor. The hotel is a short walk from the Gdańsk Shipyard Museum, which is a must-see if you’re into history, and just a couple of stops away from the bustling Gdańsk Main Market Square, where the Christmas market lights up the winter nights. If you’re looking for a quiet spot to read, the courtyard behind the lobby is surprisingly peaceful, with a small fountain that’s more about ambiance than sound. I also appreciated that the staff offered a complimentary bottle of water in the room – it’s a simple gesture, but it shows they care about guest comfort.
I left GoldenRise with a mix of admiration and a few practical suggestions. The staff could improve the Wi-Fi speed – it was a bit sluggish during the evening, which was a bummer when I wanted to share my photos on Instagram. The breakfast buffet was decent, but the croissants were a bit dry, and I wish there were more fresh fruit options. Still, the overall experience was top-notch. The 9.8 rating speaks for itself, and I can honestly say that I would book again, especially if I’m heading back to Gdańsk during the quieter shoulder season when the city feels less crowded but still buzzing with life. If you’re planning a trip, GoldenRise is a solid choice that balances comfort, convenience, and a touch of local authenticity.
Hotels near me in Gdansk offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Neptune’s Fountain, St. Mary’s Church, and the famous Long Market.

What could be improved: Brak słabych punktów.Tony from Spain – 17 September 2023 (9/10)

Close to everywhere we wanted to visit which was all the main attractions. Had two food shop very near plus a large food hall with bar hidden around the back of the block. Apartment itself very clean and well equiped with security at front desk with cctv.
What could be improved: Shop deliveries in the early hours could be very noisy and people did tend to hang around outside the shop chatting during the day and evening which could become boisterous. Shutting the double glazed windows did help but then the apartment became very warm.
