Golden Apartments Overview
When I stepped out onto ul. Wałowa 23/ lokal 4, 80-858 Gdańsk, the first thing that hit me was how well‑lit the street was at night – a quiet, cobblestone lane that feels like a secret tucked away from the bustle of the Old Town. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist who, honestly, made the whole check‑in feel more like a warm handshake than a corporate transaction. The key was handed over with a quick “welcome to Golden Apartments,” and I almost felt like I was stepping into a local’s apartment rather than a hotel. The address is actually pretty handy if you’re walking from the Gdańsk Crane (just a five‑minute stroll), but keep in mind the parking is only on the street and filling up by mid‑morning during summer can be a hassle. If you’re driving, there’s a small paid lot a block away that’s usually free in the evenings – handy for those tired after a day of sightseeing.
The room itself is a cozy, 2‑bedroom unit that feels more like a shared loft than a typical hotel suite. The walls are a muted teal that makes the space feel airy, and there’s a small balcony that gives you a view of the city’s rooftops – the kind of view that makes you want to sip coffee all day. I found the noise level to be surprisingly low, even though the building is right on the edge of a busy street; the double‑glazed windows do a great job of blocking out the traffic. The bed was a solid piece of wood with a mattress that wasn’t too firm – just the right kind of support for a good night’s sleep. The bathroom had a rain shower that felt surprisingly spa‑like, and the linens were fresh, not the cheap hotel stuff you sometimes find. The kitchen area is tiny but functional, with a small fridge, a kettle, and a coffee maker – perfect for a quick breakfast before hitting the market. The only thing I’d say could be improved is the Wi‑Fi, which sometimes lags in the evenings when the building’s router must deal with the entire block’s traffic.
Walking out of the building, I noticed the smell of freshly baked rye bread wafting from the bakery on ul. Gdańska, just across the street. I stopped in for a quick snack – a slice of rye with butter – and the shopkeeper, a young woman named Ania, chatted about the best time to visit the nearby St. Mary’s Church to avoid crowds. If you’re looking for a place that feels authentically local, Golden Apartments is the spot. The staff’s personal touch, the thoughtful little amenities, and the proximity to the less‑touristy parts of the city make it a solid choice for travelers who want to experience Gdańsk like a resident, not just a tourist. I’d definitely book a stay here again, especially in late spring or early autumn when the city is bustling but not overrun.

Location to tourist attractions and shopping, room accommodation was good. Reception helpful, with door code. liked being on floor 4, wouldn't want any higher. Generally happy with the apartment chosen. Area did seem to be quiet student and young people. Thanks
What could be improved: no toaster, no small table on balcony. 1 bedside table with damaged lamp. no information on where to take trash, but worked it out with Polish directions shown in lift.Kleitos from Cyprus – 1 January 2025 (9/10)
