Gdańska Marina- Śródmieście Overview

Gdańska Marina- Śródmieście sits at 2 Szopy 42, right in the heart of the city, where the cobblestones of Stare Miasto meet the modern buzz of the port. When I first walked up the steps, the smell of fresh fish from the nearby fish market mingled with the salty sea air – a scent that instantly tells you you’re in the right spot. The lobby was surprisingly cozy, with a few local art prints that made the space feel like a neighborhood gallery rather than a big hotel lobby. Check‑in was quick; the front desk staff were friendly, and they handed me a key card that glowed faintly in the dim light – a little tech touch that made the whole process feel a bit future‑forward. I did notice that the elevator was a tad slow, but nothing that really disrupted my plan to get to the top floor by sunset.

The room itself was a mix of clean lines and warm, earthy tones. I slept on a queen bed that had a mattress I could actually feel – not the memory foam that just feels like you’re floating. The window faced the Motława, so I could hear the gentle lapping of the water and, at night, the distant hum of the city. There was a small balcony where I could sit with a cup of coffee and watch the harbor lights flicker on as evening fell. The bathroom was sleek, with a rain shower that felt like a mini spa session. I appreciated that the minibar had a few local craft beers – a nice touch for a traveler who wants to taste something Polish without going to a bar. Parking is on the lower level, but it’s paid, so you’ll need to factor that into your budget. The parking lot is a bit noisy in the evenings, but the staff are quick to point you toward a quieter street if you’re looking for a quieter spot to park after a late night.

When I stepped outside, I was hit by the vibrant energy of the city. The street just a block away, Gdańska Marina- Śródmieście is in, is lined with cafés and a few small shops where locals buy their daily bread. I walked down Chmielna to the nearby St. Mary’s Church – the bells ringing at noon are a real treat. I also found a little pier that gives a great view of the old town walls; it’s a perfect spot for a sunset photo. If you’re staying during the summer, be prepared for the usual crowds, especially around the waterfront, but the hotel’s location makes it easy to hop over to the quieter side streets or the old harbor for a breather. I loved the fact that the staff recommended a small, family‑run pierogi stall on Piotrkowska – the pierogis were ridiculously good, and the owner even made me a special one after I told them I was from a hotel. The only downside is that the hotel’s dining room is a bit cramped in the morning, so if you’re a breakfast person, you might want to grab something from the nearby bakery instead. Overall, the hotel feels like a solid 4‑star spot for travelers who want a blend of comfort, local flavor, and a touch of maritime charm. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking to explore Gdańsk without feeling like you’re in a tourist trap. The rating of 8.7 speaks for itself, and honestly, the vibe of the place feels like a warm hug after a long day of sightseeing.

Świetna lokalizacja, znakomity kontakt, w obiekcie bardzo czysto. Chętnie wrócimy jeśli nadarzy się okazja.

  • Aksana from Belarus – 26 April 2025 (9/10)

Everything was fine. Room was clean and spacious. Very close to the city centre.

  • Rolf from Sweden – 21 February 2025 (7/10)

Nice small studio fairly central, with equipment for cooking and a fridge. Good though small shower. Free parking spots nearby.

What could be improved: Uncomfortable narrow bed and pillows for two persons. Had to pass 4 locked doors to get in to the studio.

  • Gordon from United Kingdom – 14 November 2024 (9/10)

The property is well located ,it was clean and comfortable.. Good communication with the owner.

  • Omar from Poland – 27 July 2024 (9/10)

I like that the place looks small but even tho I’m a tall man, I didn’t feel I was limited in movement.

What could be improved: Identifying which key is for which lock.

  • Olena from Denmark – 14 April 2024 (8/10)

    good location, price

  • Paolo from Italy – 3 March 2024 (9/10)

It was tricky to comunicate with the host in English but she always replyed quickly and she was helpful.
Useful to know: you need PLN cash to pay for towels in case you need them.

  • Gabriela from Denmark – 10 December 2023 (9/10)

The host was extremely nice. He was very fexible with our check in and out. He was very responsive to messages. He advised us on places to visit aeound town.

The apartment was more than big enough for the three of us! It was clean, towels for hands and feet were provided. There were coffee Pods, tea and sweet treats provided. We had no issue with any noise. The bed was comfortable for us.

The location was very close to city center and easy to reach everything around.

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Oksana from Estonia – 24 October 2023 (5/10)

Great location, easy, comfortable self check-in/check-out. On arrival you have a coffee and a tea. Much appreciated.

What could be improved: So apparently this is the studio not 1 bedroom apartment. Description says you will have 2 rooms( bedroom and a lounge) and the size is 15 square metres. Unfortunately when we arrived it was a tiny maximum 8 square metres room. At first I thought it was my bad and I didn't pay attention to the descriptions but when I checked my booking confirmation I saw that it clearly says 2 rooms- 1 bedroom apartment. And the real size of the room is half of the mentioned in description size. Next, the bed. Now I checked last reviews and many guests mentioned the same problem – the mattress is very bad. I don't understand is it broken or being in use ages and ages . In the middle of the mattress there is kind of the hill, so literally you are falling of the bed if you are lying on the edge. The bes is not flat. All 3 nights I was woken up with the back pain. Even my 8 years old paid attention to how uncomfortable the bed was.
This "1 bedroom apartment " is literally located in a room of a private apartment divided to 2 parts. In 1 tiny room this "1 bedroom apartment" and in the other part is another " 2bedroom apartment". You have your own private entrance but behind the tiny wall you have other neighbours like in the same flat. So I felt all the time someone is next to me, in my room. Even in the hotel is more quiet. Everytime the neighbours would come you can hear absolutely everything, every word and they made lots of noise.
Also as other guest mentioned I didn't feel like the bedding and towels were very fresh. Maybe it was washed at a lower degrees but I could smell male sense from the towels and bedding.
I didn't complain to the owner as we had a great time in Gdansk and tried not to think about our apartment. The owner asked how is everything and we replied as fine, because we had a great mood and were excited about the city.
