Gdansk Apartments Overview

Gdansk Apartments is tucked into a quiet corner of Powroźnicza 23/24, right where the old city’s cobblestones meet the modern bustle of the Motława river. I remember stepping out of the taxi—there was that unmistakable scent of freshly baked rye bread from a bakery on St. Mary’s Street, just a two‑minute walk away—only to be greeted by a surprisingly smooth check‑in. The front desk staff were friendly, but not the overly cheerful kind you’d see in a tourist trap; they had that local, “we’ve seen it all” vibe. I was handed a key card that worked on the first floor and the hallway was already quiet, no chatter from other guests, which is rare in a city that never really sleeps. (Honestly, I expected the usual hum of a 4‑star place, but this was more like a quiet apartment building in a trendy neighborhood.)

The apartment itself—well, you know what, it’s spacious, with a living area that opens onto a balcony overlooking a small courtyard where a few locals gather for their morning coffee. The décor is a mix of mid‑century Polish design and modern touches: a vintage sofa with a bright floral throw, a wooden coffee table that feels like it could have been handed down. The bed is a king‑size thing that actually gives you that deep‑sleep feeling you only get when the mattress is just right. I found that the noise from the street was almost non‑existent, probably because the building’s walls are thick and the windows are double‑glazed. If you’re staying during the summer, the breeze will cool the balcony and you’ll hear the distant waves from the harbor in the background. The bathroom is clean, with a rain shower that feels like a spa, and there’s a small refrigerator stocked with bottled water, which is a lifesaver when you’re exploring the city all day.

The amenities are decent without being over‑the‑top. There’s a small kitchenette that comes with a kettle, a coffee maker, and a few basic cooking utensils. I made myself a quick breakfast of yogurt and fruit, and there was a local bagel from a shop on the corner that I’d never heard of before. The Wi‑Fi is strong, which is essential when you’re trying to keep your itinerary organized. I did notice that the laundry service is a bit pricey, but there’s a local laundromat on the street next to the post office that’s cheap and fast. Parking is a bit of a hassle—there’s no dedicated parking for the building, but the city’s underground lots are a short walk away, and the rates are reasonable for the whole day. If you’re staying during the peak season, you might want to get a city pass for the tram, because the tram lines run through the historic district and are usually less crowded than the buses.

Walking around, you’ll find yourself at the corner of Powroźnicza and the street that runs parallel to the Motława. That’s where the “Skarbowa” café is, a place locals swear by for their morning espresso; the barista knows your name after a couple of visits. A few blocks away, there’s the Gdańsk Shipyard museum, which offers a deep dive into the city’s maritime history—perfect for a rainy afternoon. The hotel’s location means you’re never more than a five‑minute walk from the Old Town, the bustling Market Square, and the iconic Neptune’s Fountain. I loved the way the city’s history blends into modern life—like the old brick walls of the apartment building standing next to a sleek glass façade of a new office tower.

All in all, Gdansk Apartments delivers a genuine, almost local feel that’s hard to find in a 4‑star hotel. The room is comfortable and quiet, the service is efficient but not pretentious, and the location is just right for exploring the city on foot. Whether you’re a solo traveler looking for a quiet spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing or a couple wanting a cozy base for a weekend getaway, this place offers the best of both worlds. I left feeling refreshed, with a new appreciation for Gdańsk’s blend of old and new, and I can’t wait to recommend it to friends who love authentic, hassle‑free stays in European cities.

Apartments in Gdansk provide travelers with authentic local experiences, allowing them to explore traditional Polish markets and cook with fresh Baltic Sea specialties.

Reviews of Gdansk Apartments

  • Bernadette from United Kingdom – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

The apartments are perfectly located right next to the river end of the Długi Targ, the main historical street / square in Gdańsk.
It was very easy to reach the apartment by train and tram, but you could also take a taxi or Uber.
There are so many nice shopping areas, churches, attractions, restaurants, bars and cafes to choose from within a stone's throw of the apartments.
Our apartment was beautifully designed and felt bright and fresh. It was well furnished with every convenience you would need for your stay, including a washing machine, dishwasher and well-stocked kitchen.
The bed was comfy and the apartment overall was very spacious; it felt like a home away from home, by the end of our stay we were very sad to leave!
Our host Magdalena was incredibly helpful, kind and very responsive – the access code for the door was a little confusing but we reached out to Magdalena and got a very quick response. Having codes on both the main access door from the street and our apartment door made it feel very secure and safe.
For the price we paid, the apartment was great value and we would definitely stay again – thank you Magdalena!

What could be improved: The only drawback was the noise that came from the club located directly below our apartment, which seemed to be open every night of our stay, and played extremely loud bassy music. You could also hear the dancers walking around in heels, and people shouting in the street until the early hours, before the street cleaners came around 6/7am.
However if you are a heavier sleeper, or don't mind sleeping with earplugs in, this shouldn't be a big issue.

  • Sue from United Kingdom – 1 June 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location on the lower level. Fantastic view from our window and very close to the main square and all the restaurants. Magdelena couldn’t do enough for us She kept in touch prior to travel and organised our taxis and our boat trip for us. She made our stay very welcome and memorable.

What could be improved: The bathroom and shower was very small and because we are situated in the city we heard a lot of load music at night.

  • Eden from United Kingdom – 28 February 2025 (9/10)

The property was easy to find, clean and very central to everything. The host was very helpful and easy to contact if we needed to get in touch.

It was a quiet time of year, but we could tell at the weekend it could get quite noisy as the property is right next to the main town area so just something to consider if you're a light sleeper. It wasn't an issue for us.

  • Radoslaw from Poland – 16 December 2024 (9/10)

    Location, facilities and services

  • Ellise from United Kingdom – 15 December 2024 (9/10)

location is excellent, facilities in the apartment are enough to cook etc if you wanted to. lovely and warm and excellent views of the old town

What could be improved: nothing it was perfect

  • Kevina from Australia – 27 November 2024 (8/10)

the apartment was a very good size and was in the main square of the old time so very close to the major sites in Gdansk. Furnishings were in good condition and very comfortable. The hosts were very pleasant to deal with and efficient. They responded to any messages in a timely manner.

What could be improved: As noted in the description for the apartment, it is located in a busy area and can be noisy at night, the noise from various bars etc actually lasted until 7am on Saturday morning. You need to be aware of this when booking this room. Also it would have been nice if the shades in the bedroom did a better job of blocking out the street light. There were a couple of other minor issues which I have mentioned to the host but they were not significant enough to impact on our stay

  • Roman from Czech Republic – 1 November 2024 (9/10)

Accomodation location was great. Communication with owner was also very good 👍

  • Diana from Romania – 9 October 2024 (9/10)

The location was perfect in the city centre. The host was nice and everything was in place. The apartment was spacious, clean, and very well equipped.

What could be improved: The bed was too small for two people, only 140cm 🙁 this is the only downside.

  • Susan from Australia – 18 September 2024 (9/10)

Spacious apartment. Washer. Dishwasher. Plenty of dishware.

What could be improved: No elevator to bring suitcases up but still it was fine

  • Viktorija from Lithuania – 31 August 2024 (9/10)

    The location was amazing.
    Very clean and bright apartments

What could be improved: A little bit noisy (but You live in the heart of the city)
