After a quick shower, I stepped out onto the balcony and felt the familiar brine of the Baltic wind. It was early, and the street was still empty except for a few locals heading to their morning coffee. I could hear the clink of cups from the restaurant on the corner of Motława, where the barista had just poured a perfectly balanced espresso. From there, you could see the entire waterfront – the old wooden pier, the new marina, and the tiny boats bobbing in the harbor. I took a moment to take it all in, and I swear the view is one of those “you’ll want to capture it forever” moments. The sound of the waves, the gentle sway of the boats, and the distant call of gulls made the whole experience feel almost cinematic.

The apartment itself was a lovely blend of contemporary design and classic Gdańsk charm. The living area was spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the light. I found myself leaning back in the sofa and listening to the soft hum of the city – the distant traffic, the occasional trams, and the chatter of tourists. The kitchen was surprisingly large for an apartment, with a small island that had a built‑in sink, perfect for washing up after an impromptu pasta dinner. I was a bit surprised to find a small fridge stocked with local cheese and a bottle of chilled white wine – the staff had thought of the little things.

If you’re a foodie, you’ll love the area. A few blocks down, there’s a place called “Pierogarnia Gdańska” where the smell of freshly boiled pierogi is practically a cityscape. I grabbed a plate and it was the best pierogi I’ve had outside of Poland – the dough was soft, the filling hearty, and the sauce was just the right amount of tangy. The street itself is lined with cafés that offer a mix of Polish and international dishes. I found myself lingering at a little bistro on Ołowianka because the owner, a local baker, was showing off a new loaf of rye bread. The ambience there, with the clinking of glasses and the low hum of conversation, made the day feel complete.

Seasonal changes do affect the vibe. In July, the area becomes a hive of activity – the pier gets packed with travelers, and the cafés spill onto the sidewalks.   Niedziałający ekspres do kawy (pomimo opróżnienia pojemnika na fusy cały czas wskazywał na jego przepełnienie 🙁 )

  Location was two minute over the bridge from historical sights and the balcony gave even better views. Everything was within max 15 minutes walk.
  
  What could be improved: On booking i was sent a message from 'the host' stating if I wanted early check in (at additional cost) please let them know which is one of the reasons why we were booking it.
  On payment I received a massage that this service was no longer available, I did rise that our flight would arrive in Gdansk at 11am so would a 1pm check-in instead of 3pm be possible? this was a hard no. but a refer to a baggage holding firm two minutes walk away at an additional cost to ourselves (which was un manned and quite dodgy looking so we found a local hotel who would take our bags for 3 euros each bag instead)
  we checked in a 3pm as arranged but disappointed there was no movement in time even though the offer had been made.
