First Impressions

When I first spotted Dom na Wodzie – Flohotel floating on the Motława River, I honestly thought I was looking at some kind of art installation. This four-star floating hotel sits right there on the water — and I mean literally on it, not just beside it. The whole concept feels almost surreal until you step aboard and realize how cleverly they’ve designed this place. You’re staying on what’s essentially a boutique hotel that happens to be a boat, moored along Kamienna Grobla with Gdańsk‘s historic waterfront stretching out in both directions.

The Floating Experience

Here’s what nobody tells you about staying on water — there’s this gentle, almost imperceptible movement that’s incredibly soothing once you get used to it. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows facing the river, and watching the light change on the water throughout the day became my favorite pastime. The rooms themselves are compact but thoughtfully designed, with modern furnishings that somehow complement the maritime setting without going overboard on nautical themes. You’ll hear the occasional sound of water lapping against the hull, which honestly beats any white noise machine.

Location & Neighborhood

The location is absolutely unbeatable — you’re literally floating in the heart of Gdańsk’s Old Town. I could walk to the famous Neptune Fountain in about three minutes, and the colorful merchant houses along Długi Targ are right there. What’s brilliant is that you get all the benefits of being in the historic center without the typical hotel noise, since you’re surrounded by water instead of busy streets. The parking situation is actually sorted too, which surprised me — they have spots available on the mainland side.

Dining & Atmosphere

The onboard restaurant deserves special mention because eating dinner while gently bobbing on the Motława River is something else entirely. The food focuses on fresh seafood (naturally) and Polish classics, though I’d recommend booking a table by the windows for sunset. During the day, you can sit on the outdoor deck with a coffee and watch tour boats drift by — the passengers always look slightly envious when they spot you relaxing there. The whole atmosphere feels exclusive without being stuffy, if that makes sense.

This place has earned its 9.5 rating because it offers something genuinely unique without sacrificing comfort. Couples particularly love it here — there’s something inherently romantic about falling asleep to the gentle motion of water and waking up to river views. The staff clearly takes pride in the novelty of their floating hotel, and their enthusiasm is infectious. You know what really sold me though? Standing on the deck at night, looking back at the illuminated Old Town from the water — it’s a perspective of Gdańsk that most visitors never get to experience.

  Niebanalne, nowoczesne, wygodne miejsce zaraz obok gwarnego centrum. Cicho i spokojnie, nawet Tv nie trzeba włączać, bo widok płynącej rzeki, łabędzi, kaczek jest jak film z National Geografic. Najbardziej na wyjeździe cenię sobie niezależność i tutaj to działa!

  Bardzo dobra lokalizacja. Cicho i spokojnie a zarazem bardzo blisko centrum. Domek nowoczesny i oryginalny. Wyposażenie kompleksowe. Cudowny widok gdy do okna podpływają łabędzie i kaczki.
  
  What could be improved: W obiekcie dość często pojawiały się duże pająki. Domek mógłby być ewentualnie uzupełniony o kuchenkę mikrofalową lub piekarnik.

  Mooie moderne drijvende hotelkamer.Het centrum is op 5 minuten loopafstand. De wijk waar het hotel drijft is niet bijzonder.
  
  What could be improved: Wij hadden de accomodatie geboekt voor 6 personen.
  Deze accomodatie is absoluut niet geschikt voor 6 personen. Er is één 2 persoons bed aanwezig. De andere 4 personen moeten op twee zeer smalle harde banken slapen met een rugleuning welke je achterover kunt klappen. Zie de bank op de foto van het appartement. Voor 2 volwassenen en 2 kinderen is het wel te doen. Voor 6 personen is deze drijvende hotelkamer NIET geschikt!!!!!

  Rewelacyjna lokalizacja nad wodą, widok z rozsuwanego okna i bogate wyposażenie sprawiają, że Dom na wodzie jest niepowtarzalnym miejscem do relaksu. Na pewno polecam to miejsce.

  Apartament w świetnej lokalizacji, 15min spacerem do fontanny neptuna. Standard miejsca jest wysoki. Wygodne łóżka oraz technologia wykorzystywana podczas pobytu (smartdom) sprawiały, że pobyt minął bardzo komfortowo. W środku można skorzystać z klimatyzacji, soundbar, telewizor z netflix oraz otwieranymi oknami w kierunku rzeki.
  
  What could be improved: Niestety sofy 2 osobowe są bardzo wąskie, przez co jest bardzo mało miejsca do spania (jeśli chodzi o nocleg dla 6 osób). Brak mikrofalówki lub piekarnika jest dość znaczną wadą, która podniosłaby ostateczną ocenę. Na minus brak youtube w telewizorze (błąd połączenia w telewizorze). Ostatnią wadą jest brak dodatkowych worków na śmieci. Przy kilkudniowym pobycie jest to dość problematyczne.
