Dom & House Apartments – Old Town Tobiasz Residence Overview

Dom & House Apartments – Old Town Tobiasz Residence sits on a cobbled block just a stone’s throw from the bustling Długi Targ, and honestly, the first thing that hits you is the smell of roasted chestnuts drifting from that corner stall on Jagiellonian Street. I remember stepping off the tram at St. Mary’s Square, the air crisp, and the torch-lit façades of the old town already glowing in the early evening. The building itself is a quiet, almost secretive, piece of brickwork that feels like a hidden alcove, yet it’s just a block away from the lively cafés on Krzywa and the historic warehouses that line the Motława River.

When you finally get the key and open the door, you’re greeted by a surprisingly spacious apartment that feels like a home far from home. The living area has that warm, muted timber that makes you want to settle in with a mug of the local “Gdańsk coffee” (the one that’s half espresso, half sweetened condensed milk). The kitchen is equipped with a decent range of appliances – a kettle, a microwave, a small fridge – and they even included a set of local spices – a little yellow cardamom that you can’t find elsewhere in the city. The bed was a solid, memory foam mattress that took a second to settle into, but once you do, it’s like a cloud that never goes away, even after a long day wandering the Old Town’s narrow lanes. The bathroom has a shower that’s a bit loud, but the water pressure is more than reliable, and the tiles are that classic blue‑and‑white pattern that gives the place a hint of the maritime heritage Gdańsk is famous for. The only small gripe I had was that the blinds are a touch too thick, so you can’t get that soft, early‑morning light right through, but it’s a minor thing – the rest is solid.

Parking is a bit of a hassle because you’re in the heart of the Old Town. There’s a small, paid underground lot near the Sukiennice that charges a modest fee, but if you’re staying around the quieter hours, you can just park in the street outside the 3rd floor, where the traffic slows down after 10 pm. Noise-wise, it’s a mixed bag: the bustling market next door is a lively soundtrack during the day, but at night, the only sounds you hear are the faint clink of glasses from the café on the corner of Jagiellonian and the distant hum of the tram that loops through the city center. The check‑in process was surprisingly smooth – the reception staff was warm, offered a quick tour of the apartment, and even handed over a small map with handwritten tips for the best pierogi spots. The only thing that could use a bit more polish is the Wi‑Fi speed; it’s decent for streaming, but I had to keep reconnecting when I was working on a tight deadline.

All in all, Dom & House Apartments – Old Town Tobiasz Residence feels like a quiet sanctuary right in the middle of all the action, offering a blend of classic Gdańsk charm and modern comforts. If you’re looking for a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a neighbor’s living room, this is the spot. Plan your stay for late spring or early autumn – that’s when the streets are lively but not overcrowded, and the temperatures are mild enough that you can stroll from the Motława to the cathedral without breaking a sweat. If you’re a foodie, keep an eye out for the small, family‑run trattoria on Szeroka that serves the best “zupa rybna” in town. And if you’re a history buff, the nearby Gdańsk Museum of World War II is just a ten‑minute walk away, offering a sobering look at the city’s past. In short, Dom & House Apartments – Old Town Tobiasz Residence is the kind of place that makes you say, “I actually wish I could stay here forever.”

Reviews of Dom & House Apartments – Old Town Tobiasz Residence

  • Deepika from Norway – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

The size and location was just great. Quiet but still extremely central – just a short walk to the station and all the major tourist attractions. Perfect for 2 couples due to the 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms plan.

What could be improved: The check in was an utter disaster. We had to wait approximately 3 hours to get into the apartment after our flight. The door code was not shared as promised. I had to call 5 times before i could get someone to help us – it was either a long menu of options only to be disconnected at the end of it, or someone who said they would call back and never did. Finally after speaking to 3 different people they generated a new code that didnt work! We then had to wait for a technician to come and reset the lock or replace the battery – not sure which. In all of this, no one called us to let us know what exactly was happening. Finally when I got through to them again they acted surprised that we didnt know that the technician had been and we could now get in… All in all it was quite dreadful and we were just thankful that we arrived at a decent time of day and that we didnt have children or elders with us.

  • Bara from Czech Republic – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

The apartment was very spacious — we especially appreciated the large living room. The building is new and beautiful, in a perfect location.

  • Mashkov from Russia – 10 April 2025 (9/10)

    Excellent location, near Hilton
    Big space

What could be improved: There is no microwave

  • Matthew from United Kingdom – 14 March 2025 (9/10)

Apartment itself is perfectly situated for accessing Gdansk old town. Easy instructions to enter the property. Apartment is modern, clean and very spacious.

What could be improved: Only one pillow per person, per bed.

  • Jackie from United Kingdom – 28 February 2025 (9/10)

    Very spacious and quiet

  • Sebastian from Australia – 20 February 2025 (9/10)

We loved the location and comfort of the whole apartment. Proximity to Old town, train station and lots of restaurants, bars and shopping center.

What could be improved: We had a few issues.
First of all , key box for the car spot was locked with no PIN left and I spent 1 hour to fix that problem with two agency staff.
Big window in one of the bedrooms is crooked and it has gap and cold air comes through.
The biggest problem through our 4-night-stay was TV with no signal all the time and old batteries in remote control. It needs to be fixed before having new reservation as it is not acceptable.

  • Rosalyn from Poland – 3 February 2025 (9/10)

Superb location. Great size. Very clean and comfortable.

What could be improved: The only downside was that there was no extra bedding and the pillows were quite flat.

  • Joseph from United Kingdom – 10 December 2024 (9/10)

What could be improved: No information about how the use the hob and tv. This would have helped to avoid some frustration to guests. There was only 1 pillow each, would have been better to have an option to have a second pillow. Minor issues however had a great stay in the apartment.

  • David from United Kingdom – 25 November 2024 (8/10)

Fabulous location, beautiful accommodation, clean and tidy, hosts were extremely helpful & flexible both on check-in and check-out

What could be improved: Toiletries could have been provided, towels were a little thin.

  • Liz from Australia – 21 November 2024 (9/10)

Great location, wonderful property and spacious for family or friends travelling together. Responses to inquiries have been very prompt, well communication with property managers.
