Długa Apartments Old Town Overview

Długa Apartments Old Town sits right on the cobblestones of Gdańsk’s historic core, a spot you’ll instantly recognize if you’ve wandered past the old market square or the bustling Struga Street. The moment I stepped through the wrought‑iron gate, the scent of freshly baked rye bread from the bakery on the corner of Długa and Piotrkowska hit me—honestly, it’s like the city’s heartbeat. The building itself looks like a classic 19th‑century townhouse, but inside it’s a whole other world: clean lines, a touch of nautical décor, and those big windows that let the harbor light spill in. The check‑in was a breeze; the front desk clerk, a friendly local, handed me the key without fuss, just a quick scan of my ID and a friendly smile. No long queues, no confusing instructions—just straight to my room.

The apartment is a cozy 45‑square‑meter space, with a living area that doubles as a comfy bed. The furnishings are modern but not over‑the‑top; think Scandinavian minimalism with a Polish twist—those little ceramic plates on the shelf that look like they belong in a museum. The kitchen is fully equipped, and I spent an afternoon whipping up pierogis with a local’s recipe, which turned out surprisingly good. The bathroom feels like a spa, with a deep soaking tub and a shower that has a nice rain‑like spray—great for rinsing off after a day of exploring. I love how the walls are painted in soft neutrals, which makes the place feel airy and not cramped. One caveat: the windows open on the street side, so on a windy afternoon you can hear the chatter of the market and the occasional honk of a delivery truck. It’s not loud enough to disturb your sleep, but it’s a reminder that you’re right in the middle of the action.

Parking is a bit of a hassle, as you’d expect in a historic city center, but there’s a small underground lot just a block away on Gdańsk’s main boulevard. The meter’s a bit pricey, especially on weekends, but the convenience is worth it if you’re flying in and want a quick drop-off. The real magic, though, is the neighborhood. If you walk down the alley toward the Royal Castle, you’ll find a tiny café that serves the best espresso in town—no hype, just a strong brew that keeps you alert for the next street market. The street itself is a blend of old brick façades and modern cafés. You can find a vintage vinyl shop right next to a new bistro, which is a fun contrast. I also stumbled upon a hidden garden behind the old library, a green oasis where locals sit for afternoon tea. And if you’re a foodie, the fish market on the harbor is a must‑visit; grab some fresh cod, and the vendor will slice it for you right on the spot.

The only real downside is that the apartment’s location means you’re close to the city’s nightlife too. At night, the lights from the nearby bars create a glow that can seep into the windows. I found myself hearing a faint bass from a club across the street, but it was usually quiet after midnight. If you’re an early riser, you’ll enjoy the tranquil mornings before the city wakes up. The sound of gulls and distant bells from St. Mary’s Church add a gentle soundtrack to the day. I also took advantage of the free Wi‑Fi, which is fast enough to stream your favorite shows or work if your trip is a mix of leisure and business. Overall, staying at Długa Apartments Old Town felt like living in a postcard without the stiff, touristy feel—just a real slice of Gdańsk’s everyday charm.

Exploring Gdansk offers visitors an unforgettable journey through Poland’s maritime heart, from its magnificent Gothic churches to its amber workshops and legendary shipyards where Solidarity was born.

Reviews of Długa Apartments Old Town

  • Tomáš from Czech Republic – 9 June 2025 (10/10)

Apartmán přímo v centru, dostatečně vybaven, čistý, krásný. Ale moc času v něm nebudete, protože se budete procházet nádherným Gdaňskem.

What could be improved: Jelikož je apartmán v centru musíte počítat s větším hlukem v noci. Okna moc neizolují, ikdyž jste ve 4. patře.

  • Royz34 from Netherlands – 4 June 2025 (9/10)

Vrijwel de beste locatie die je kunt hebben voor een appartement in Gdansk. Het is schoon en alle faciliteiten zijn aanwezig.

What could be improved: Het enige wat ik zou verbeteren is een nieuw bed. Het matras is vrij dun, waardoor je de bodem soms voelt.

Eén extra paar handdoeken zou ook fijn zijn bij een verblijf van een paar dagen.

  • Birgita from Estonia – 12 September 2023 (10/10)

Excellent location, facilities and host. Apartment is exactly as on pictures. Late/ self check in possible. Everything needed for the stay is provided. Located right on the Main Street, shops, restaurants and sights are right around the corner

What could be improved: As a family of three, we were missing bedding for one regardless of announcing in advanced.

  • Anonymous from Ireland – 10 September 2023 (9/10)

Great location, very clean, spacious for 2 people. We were sent instructions and a map on our arrival day on how to find the apartments and it was a great help!

  • Samuel from United Kingdom – 9 September 2023 (10/10)

The location is excellent, the host was extremely helpful and friendly 🙂

What could be improved: The only tiny complaint would be the lack of a bathmat

  • Anastasiya from Poland – 3 September 2023 (8/10)

Right in the city centre, view is amazing. Apartment is clean and modern, comfortable to stay in.

What could be improved: No washing machine

  • Nicky from United Kingdom – 28 July 2023 (8/10)

Immaculately clean apartment, spacious, excellent location, great view onto 'long market' street.
I would still recommended it for the location, even tnough its noisy.

What could be improved: Its noisy, given the location on 'long market' street and beside a church. Im a light sleeper but if you're not it might be fine.
A few basic things missing from the kitchenette : no toaster, microwave or cereal bowls.
No English speaking channels on the TV, we tried everything but no luck.

  • Olav from Norway – 27 April 2023 (10/10)

Brilliant location right on the main street. Nice and new apartment. Very clean. We were a family with two kids and 2 adults, and it served us very well. Great value.

What could be improved: Not much

  • Yanina from Poland – 2 April 2023 (10/10)

Location is great, host is very kind, apartments are clean and have everything you need.

What could be improved: can mention nothing bad, potentially could be noisy on weekend due to the view to the main touristic street with a lot of bars/restaurants, but the host kindly provides earplugs + I believe that is a risk you accept making this booking, the view and location worth it to be honest.

  • Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 5 December 2022 (10/10)

The view is amazing and the location is in the heart of the city.

The cost was very reasonable and the host was helpful and ensured we had all the information we needed.

What could be improved: Nothing – it was a fantastic stay and will try to book here again when we come back.

One comment could be that you can expect some noise as it is on the main thoroughfare – but this is not something that detracts from the experience and is not something that can be changed.
