City Center – Wałowa i Popiełuszki by Apartmore Overview
City Center – Wałowa i Popiełuszki by Apartmore sits right on Wałowa Street, a stone’s throw from the bustling Old Town square. I first spotted it from the terrace of a nearby, where the building’s clean, modern façade made a quiet statement against the historic brick walls of St. Mary’s Church. The moment I stepped inside, the staff—friendly faces, a quick smile, and a small cup of Polish coffee—made the check‑in feel less like a formality and more like a warm welcome. They handed me a key that felt oddly like a small, personal invitation, and the elevator ride was almost a ritual: the polished steel doors click open, the lobby’s glass walls reflect the street below, and you can hear the distant honk of trams. I have to say, the Wi‑Fi is decent the way it is, but during peak tourist season—late June into early September—there’s a noticeable lag, especially after a late dinner at one of the local bistros.
The rooms themselves are a neat blend of comfort and contemporary Polish design. The bed feels like a cloud, and the linens are that buttery softness you only find in a few well‑curated hotels. The bathroom is a clean, minimalist space with a rain shower that actually feels like a gentle mist—perfect after a day of walking the cobblestone streets of Stradom. The view from the room? A sweeping panorama of Gdańsk’s skyline: the half‑moon silhouette of the Art Deco Opera House, the distant echo of church bells from St. Mary’s, and the glittering waters of the Motława River. I swear you can almost taste the sea breeze that drifts in from the river, mixing with the faint scent of freshly baked rye bread from a bakery on Mariacka Street. Noise-wise, nights are usually pretty quiet, except for the occasional late‑night tram whistle that reminds you you’re still in the heart of the city. Parking is a bit of a hassle—there’s a paid underground lot on Gdańska Street, but if you’re staying for a long time, the hotel’s parking space is a lifesaver, especially during the summer when the streets are full of tourists.
What really pulls you in is the little touches that only locals know. On a rainy Thursday morning, I caught a glimpse of the street artist on Plac Reformatorski, sketching the city’s outline, and the hotel’s front desk staff gave me a quick tip: “Drop by the corner café on Słowackiego Street for the best latte you’ll ever taste.” I followed their advice, and the barista’s latte art was so detailed, it felt like a miniature masterpiece. The next evening, I took a short walk to the nearby Przymorze district, where the sea air mixes with the scent of grilled fish at the third‑floor restaurant, and the night lights reflect on the water like a thousand tiny stars. Honestly, staying at City Center – Wałowa i Popiełuszki by Apartmore is less about the luxury, and more about that sense of belonging to the city’s rhythm—its noise, its aromas, its people, and the subtle, warm nods from staff who genuinely care. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk, this place feels like an unexpected family member you’ll want to visit again and again.

Amazing flat. Everything perfect and clean

The property was clean and felt secure, no clutter but had all the requirements we needed and felt they made good use of space. We liked the style of the interiors also. Near the Food Hall in Montownia and a pleasant walking distance to all we wanted to visit – the old town, Xmas markets, the 2nd World War museum and Forum shopping centre.
What could be improved: The bed mattresses not the cleanest – they need mattress protectors!Shawn from United States – 16 October 2024 (9/10)
