City Center – Riverside by Apartmore Overview

City Center – Riverside by Apartmore is tucked right on the water, a stone’s throw from the bustling Motława River and the historic Old Town. When I first walked in, the front desk was a surprisingly calm oasis – the staff greeted me with a friendly smile and a quick, “Welcome to City Center – Riverside by Apartmore!” The check‑in process was smooth, no long lines, just a quick scan of my ID and the keys for my room. I mean, they even let me grab a free map of the city at the desk, which is a neat touch for a first‑time visitor. The lobby itself has this industrial chic vibe, with exposed brick walls and a low, humming air‑conditioner that sings softly in the background – a pleasant contrast to the city’s usual clamor.

The room was a cozy retreat, about 25 square metres, with a big window overlooking the river. I could hear the gentle lapping of water and the occasional gulls, which made the space feel alive without being noisy. The bed was a solid, comfortable king – the mattress was firm but not harsh, and the sheets were that perfect cool, crisp feel you only get when the hotel truly cares about sleep quality. I’ve stayed in a few 4‑star places in Gdańsk, but this one’s padding for the price is solid. The bathroom had that classic granite slab and a rain‑shower head that felt like a mini spa session after a day of exploring. The free toiletries were decent, though I’d say a little more variety would be nice – maybe some local soaps? The minibar had a mix of local craft beers, which is a sweet nod to the city’s brewing scene. Honestly, the only critique I had was that the Wi‑Fi signal was a bit spotty in the hallway, but you could just move closer to the balcony and get a stable connection.

Now, let’s talk about the neighborhood – because that’s where the real charm lives. The hotel is on 6 Jaglana C/5, so you’re literally on the river’s edge, and just a 5‑minute walk to the famous St. Mary’s Church and the Royal Castle. The street around there is lined with cafés that serve the best pierogi and a glass of local vodka – I grabbed a quick bite at a place called “Kawa i Miód” (you’ll want to try their caramelized coffee) and it was instantly clear why locals swear by it. Parking is a bit of a hassle if you’re driving – there’s a public parking lot a block away, but the rates are standard, and you’ll need to pay for a monthly pass if you’re staying longer. If you’re more into public transport, the tram stop is right next to the hotel, and you can hop on to the marina or even head out to the beach in the summer. The noise level is pretty moderate – the river’s gentle hum is soothing, but in the evenings the street traffic can get a tad louder, especially near the market square, so I’d recommend a good pair of earplugs if you’re a light sleeper.

One of the best things about City Center – Riverside by Apartmore is how it feels like a home base for exploring Gdańsk. The staff actually knows most of the best spots – one of the attendants told me about a hidden jazz bar near the harbor that’s open only on Wednesdays. I ended up checking it out, and the vibe was electric – local musicians, a small crowd, and a menu of creative cocktails. The hotel’s own bar is a calm corner with a nice selection of Polish vodkas and a few international wines. I’ve heard that the quiet hours at the hotel start at 10 PM, so if you’re into late nights, you might want to plan ahead. The only downside I noticed was that the elevator is a bit narrow, which can be a hassle if you’re lugging a lot of luggage, but the stairs are in good condition, so it’s manageable.

All in all, City Center – Riverside by Apartmore offers a genuine, hassle‑free experience with an authentic local feel. It’s one of those places where the staff’s friendly demeanor, the modest room comfort, and the unbeatable location near the river and Old Town combine to make your stay memorable. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk, this is a spot you’ll want to keep in mind – especially if you’re looking for a place that feels like a home base, but also lets you slip into the city’s vibrant rhythm with ease. Enjoy your stay, and don’t forget to try the pierogi – you’ll thank me later!

Reviews of City Center – Riverside by Apartmore

  • Anna from United Kingdom – 30 April 2025 (5/10)

Staff very polite and helpful. Good size flat, comfortable beds. Great location.

What could be improved: The swimming pool
advertised is not included in the price which wasn't clear when booking. There was dust on bedside tables, fingerprints all over patio glass door, flickering lights in the bathroom.

  • Ida from Norway – 4 September 2024 (8/10)

I travel to Gdansk once a year, so I am pretty known around the town. So many new places every time I come here. I usually stay around this erea, wich is close to the old town. I just love Gdansk. Nice people, and so many Nice resturants and places to visit.
We were lucky with the weather and visited the beach two times, and could take a swim, since the weather was so good.

What could be improved: I never understand why hotelroom or apartments like this have so few hangers. None on the bathrooms, so where to hang the towels?
And never enough toiletpapers, and the nearest shop didn't sell toiletpaper or did't have it in the shop at this point. Wich makes me have to remember to look for toilettpaper when we go out, and before we go home, so that we dont have to carry with us 12 rolls of toilettpaper, and just because we need one roll.. this is just so anoying, and so simple for the apartments to just have enough of in the rooms.
