City Center, Art House & Family Stay by Downtown Apartments Overview
I just got off the train and found myself at City Center, Art House & Family Stay by Downtown Apartments, and honestly, the first thing that hit me was how snug the building feels right in the heart of Gdańsk. The front desk was a small, friendly counter with a handwritten sign that read “Welcome!” and a stack of brochures that looked more like art than travel guides. The check‑in was quick—no long lines, just a couple of friendly smiles and a few questions about my stay. The staff gave me a map that actually highlighted the best spots to hit on a rainy afternoon, like the hidden cafés on ul. Długa and the quirky art installations on ul. Gdańska. I could already hear the distant hum of the Motława River and the clatter of plates from the fish market nearby.
The room was a cozy blend of modern and industrial. The bed was surprisingly plush—think memory foam with a linen cover that smells faintly of fresh linen and a hint of citrus from the window. I slept pretty well, even though the street noise is always present; the building’s insulation does a decent job, and the curtains are thick enough to block out the evening traffic from ul. Św. Wojciecha. The bathroom was clean, and the shower had a strong, invigorating scent of eucalyptus. I found a small, vintage radio in the corner—turns out the hotel has a collection of old Polish records, a nice touch that made me feel like a local. The Wi‑Fi was spotty at first, but after a quick reboot, it was stable, which is crucial for me when I’m trying to find the best pierogi spots online.
Parking can be a bit of a maze around Gdańsk, but the hotel actually offers a small parking lot right behind the building, which is a huge relief. It’s a bit of a walk to the city’s historic center, but the route is lined with cafés that serve steaming mugs of kopi, and a few minutes later you’ll find yourself on ul. Mariacka, where the old town’s cobblestones feel like a living history book. The hotel’s location puts you within a ten‑minute walk to the Royal Way (Aleja Gdyńska), so you can easily hop off the tram, stroll along the harbor, and return in the evening without missing any of the city’s nightlife. The staff even left a bottle of locally brewed amber beer on the kitchen counter—talk about a friendly welcome.
If you’re traveling with family, the hotel is surprisingly family‑friendly. The rooms have a small kitchenette, a mini‑fridge, and a microwave, which is handy for a quick snack after a day of exploring. The kids love the art wall in the lobby, and the hotel even has a small outdoor garden where you can unwind under a pergola with a few potted herbs. For those who love a quick breakfast, the on‑site café serves a decent spread of pastries, but honestly, the real breakfast is found just a block away at the bakery on ul. Wysoka, where the smell of fresh bread will make you forget about the hotel’s offerings at 8 am.
Overall, City Center, Art House & Family Stay by Downtown Apartments is a solid choice if you want a place that feels like a home base in the middle of Gdańsk’s bustle. The staff’s local knowledge and the little touches—like the vintage records, the amber beer, and the helpful maps—add a personal touch that turns a stay into an experience. The only real downside is the slight noise from the street at night, but the hotel’s insulation keeps it manageable. If you’re heading to Gdańsk during the tourist rush, just plan to arrive early for check‑in to avoid the late‑night crowd. And when you’re ready to leave, a quick walk back to the train station is just a pleasant stroll through the historic lanes, with the city’s history humming in the background. This place isn’t just a hotel; it’s a little piece of the city that you can call your own while you explore the rest of Poland.
Hotels near me in Gdansk offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Neptune’s Fountain, St. Mary’s Church, and the famous Long Market.

What could be improved: Saknade mikrovågsugn och en fungerande brödrostMari from Estonia – 19 April 2025 (9/10)
Apatment is spacious and with a good layout. It features good kitchen with utilities, including dishwasher. In the bathroom water pressure is extremely efficient. WiFi worked well. There is some coffee capsules, also tea, salt, pepper, sugar in apartment. Also few dishwasher tablets. Soap, shampoo provided. Lidl and Biedronka (grocery stores) about 5min on foot away. Smaller convenience stores (Zabka) few minutes away. Next to the apartment is small park with outdoor gym equipment.
What could be improved: Layout of the storage space was a bit weird – in one of the bedrooms there were absolutely no closets, shelves etc. Also no laundry detergent despite of the existance of the washing machine. Those are nevertheless small details only.Piotr from Poland – 20 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: 1. After arriving at the apartments, I had to call them, because they did not send exact instructions on how to get to the apartment. We waited about 15 minutes for them to send the code – but it was wrong and we had to call again, so it took us maybe half an hour to get in.
2. On their page, it is indicated that there is a parking lot, but when we asked where we can park the car, they answered that they don't have a parking lot and you should look for it yourself.
3. The apartment was messy, after walking around with white socks, they immediately turned black, and there was mold in the bathroom – unsanitary conditions.
4. After returning home on the first evening, it was not possible to enter the apartment again, because the telephone lock in the staircase did not work. When we called them, they couldn't help, so we stood outside at night for maybe 30 minutes, they promised to contact us in the morning and explain why the phone lock didn't work. However, in the morning we received a message from the administration that we could not call them and that we had to write a message, as if we had interrupted them. We did not receive help or suggestions on how to get to the staircase, so we managed to enter the stairwell only by luck, because the neighbors who were leaving let us in.
We are very disappointed with this apartment. It does not correspond at all to the price-quality ratio, unpleasant communication, lack of care and negligence.Marta from Poland – 14 July 2024 (7/10)

The flat itself is exceptional! Near the centre, big and comfortable, with all the amenities, even nice kid's toys. As there is a playground just outside, perfect place for families. Only one small minus – the code for the door outside doesn't work after 10pm, so someone needs to open it for you.
What could be improved: Made the reservation without a free cancellation more than half a year in advance. They took the money immediately, but what was my surprise when the same amount was taken a second time during my stay…As I found this on my return home – wrote them, of course. First answer was that they will check, then no answers at all. Now I went to my bank to try to get my money back…In general the communication with them not easy – the feeling is that you deal with careless, incompetent people with bad English, just wanting to take your money. For example, during those months between the reservation and the stay, twice they asked me for money for the baby cot – a free service according to booking.com. Never again!Koungok from Ukraine – 25 February 2023 (9/10)
The space was spacious and cozy. Easy to get in and out of. There was a parking space and necessary kitchen utensils were provided.
What could be improved: A long walk to the city center. The amount of hot water from the boiler is not enough for a family of 4 to use.Edita from Lithuania – 6 November 2022 (9/10)
Spacious, clean appartment. Very close to city centre. Lots of food stores nearby and a good thai massage salon for relaxing experience.
Aneta from United Kingdom – 4 September 2022 (9/10)
Space, location, very clean
What could be improved: Luck of curtains in the 2nd/twin bedroom.
