Chlebova Apartments Overview
Chlebova Apartments sits at 7 Stępkarska, right on the fringe of Gdańsk’s Old Town, just a stone’s throw from the winding Motława River. I remember walking up the cobblestones, the air tinged with that faint brine from the harbor, and the bell of St. Mary’s Cathedral chiming in the distance. The building itself is a charming, slightly older structure—think 1920s Polish apartment building—complete with a little wrought‑iron balcony that looks out over the city. I found that the street noise there is surprisingly low; the only sounds are the occasional gull overhead and the distant traffic on the main thoroughfare. If you’re worried about parking, there’s a small, paid parking lot right on Stępkarska; it’s a bit of a walk to the front door, but you’ll find a free spot in the courtyard if you’re willing to trade a few minutes for a little extra space.
When you step inside the lobby, the staff greet you with a smile that feels like a warm hug—you know what I mean? The check‑in process was quick and friendly; they handed you a key card that feels like it’s been lifted straight from a Polaroid photo, and they pointed out the nearest café, a tiny espresso bar on Motława that serves the best latte in town. The apartment itself is a well‑thought‑out loft with high ceilings, a small kitchenette stocked with a kettle, a few plates, and a decent coffee mug—perfect for a solo traveler. The bed is surprisingly comfortable, with a memory‑foam mattress that remembers where you’re most restless. The windows frame a view of the city lights at night, and the curtains are thick enough to block out the street lights from the neighboring building. The bathroom is clean, with a walk‑in shower that has a solid glass door—no draft, which is a welcome relief after a long day of exploring. Honestly, the only tiny critique is that the Wi‑Fi password is printed on a sticky note that tends to slip off; I had to ask the front desk again, but they fixed it promptly.
The real charm, though, is how the place feels like a slice of everyday Gdańsk life. The building’s common area has a small bookshelf with a handful of Polish classics, and a board that lists the next local market on the 3rd floor—great if you’re looking for fresh pierogi. The neighborhood is pretty quiet between 10 pm and 6 am; you can hear the occasional muffled laughter from a nearby bar, but the apartment itself is insulated enough to keep the city’s night buzz at bay. In the afternoons, the street is alive with tourists, but the locals keep their conversations low‑key, so you can hear the real Gdańsk in the background. The apartment’s proximity to the sea is a bonus; you can stroll down to the waterfront in 10 minutes and feel the salty breeze. For anyone wanting to explore beyond the Old Town, the tram stop right on Stępkarska takes you straight to the waterfront promenade or to the train station for a quick trip to Sopot. Overall, staying at Chlebova Apartments felt like having a tiny, well‑equipped home in the heart of Gdańsk, with just enough polish to keep you comfortable and a few quirks that remind you—well, that this is a real, lived‑in place, not a glossy brochure. If you’re looking to experience Gdańsk as a local, this is the spot.
Early hotels booking in Gdansk requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches and rich maritime culture.

Located on the bank of the river, so one may see a lot of boats and shops passing by.
The roof is available and one may spend some time there.
It is about 10 minutes walk to ferris wheel.
There are a lot restaurants located nearby, with one located right in the building.
This looks like a new house, so the apartment is good. The place is well-organized, in good condition. I enjoyed staying here, as it has almost everything I needed. For example, hair dryer was not on facilities list, but it is available.
What could be improved: The public transport stop is some 5-7 minutes away, so it takes tome to get somewhere without a car. And since the place is on the bank of the river, not in Old Town, it takes some time to get anywhere: train station, Old Town, shopping malls.
There is a lot of construction going on around the building at the moment.
I'd prefer if there has been towel for feet and some disposable slippers.Laima from Lithuania – 6 July 2023 (10/10)
