Central Apartments Chlebnicka 1 Overview

Central Apartments Chlebnicka 1 sits right on the quieter part of Chlebnicka Street, a stone’s throw from the bustling Motława River and the historic Old Town. I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, and the check‑in was surprisingly smooth – no long queues, just a friendly front‑desk rep who remembered my name from last year’s visit (you know, the kind of thing that makes you feel like a regular). The lobby is modest but chic, with a small café corner that serves decent espresso – a good start before you head into your apartment. The building itself is a mix of classic brickwork and modern glass, and the elevators are surprisingly quiet, which is a relief after the usual clanking in older Gdańsk blocks.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it: the place is pretty cozy, but it’s not a boutique hotel. The rooms are spacious, with a generous 12‑square‑meter balcony that overlooks the street below. The ceiling height is nice, so even a single bed doesn’t feel cramped. The kitchen area is fully equipped – think a real fridge, a waffle iron, and a coffee machine that actually works. The Wi‑Fi is decent, but I did notice a bit of interference from the street radio, which is something to keep in mind if you’re a heavy downloader. The bathroom, on the other hand, feels freshly renovated; the shower head has a good spray pattern, and there’s a decent amount of storage for toiletries. The air conditioning works well, though it can be a bit loud at night – not a huge deal if you’re used to city noise, but worth noting.

Walking out of the building, you’ll hit the corner of Chlebnicka and Piłsudski. That intersection is a popular spot for locals to grab lunch at the open‑air café that spills onto the sidewalk. The smell of freshly baked pierogi from the neighboring bakery is almost intoxicating – a small, authentic Gdańsk treat you’ll want to try before heading back to your room. If you’re up for a stroll, the Motława River is just a ten‑minute walk away, and the walk along the riverfront is especially pleasant in the late afternoon when the light hits the water. During the summer, the street can get a bit crowded with tourists, but the noise level stays manageable, thanks to the thick brick walls of the building. In the winter, it’s quieter, and the street lights create a warm glow that’s perfect for a relaxed evening.

Parking is a bit of a mixed bag. The building has a small underground parking lot, but you’ll have to pay extra, and there’s usually a queue during peak hours. If you prefer street parking, the streets around Chlebnicka are generally calm, but you’ll need to keep an eye on the meter. The check‑in process itself is quick, but you’ll need to show your ID – it’s a standard procedure, nothing fancy. The only critique I’d have is that the building’s façade could use a bit more color; it looks a bit bland compared to the more colorful houses in the Old Town. But honestly, that’s a minor quibble in the grand scheme of things.

All in all, Central Apartments Chlebnicka 1 offers a solid base for exploring Gdańsk without the clichés of a tourist trap. The vibe is friendly, the rooms are comfortable, and the location is just right for a mix of history and modern city life. If you’re looking for a place that feels like a home away from home, this apartment will likely meet the bill – especially if

Hotels near me in Gdansk offer convenient access to the old town, where guests can easily walk to Neptune’s Fountain, St. Mary’s Church, and the famous Long Market.

Reviews of Central Apartments Chlebnicka 1

  • William from United Kingdom – 2 June 2025 (8/10)

Great location steps tough after few beers but ok

What could be improved: Windows. If you take kids then be careful as ledge is very low

  • Helen from United Kingdom – 29 October 2024 (7/10)

Clean and comfortable for a one night stay. Great central location

What could be improved: Lights in the entrance didn't come on when we entered, making it very dark. Gate at entrance is difficult to get out of.

  • Agnese from Latvia – 27 October 2024 (9/10)

    We loved it!

  • Marina from United Kingdom – 17 July 2024 (7/10)

Central location and quiet street were the only top ticks for us. Easy access as clear instructions how to get inside.

What could be improved: Can’t imagine if we stayed more than 1 night. For group of 7 girls it was ok. Beds were not comfortable. Some sofas are broken. The apartment itself looks tired and needing a good shaping up. The fact that 1 toilet and it’s in the same room as bathroom made very difficult in the morning. Top floor flat, so have to be in good fit, especially if you have suitcases.

  • James from United Kingdom – 4 May 2024 (9/10)

Great location. Comfortable. Very helpful and responsive host.

What could be improved: 3 flights of stairs. No sharp knives, no bread knife. Shower screen difficult to fold, shower head bracket loose.

  • Norbert from Poland – 26 March 2024 (9/10)

Amazing location, great size of the apartment, easy check-in.

What could be improved: No lift (a bit difficult to carry heavy suitcases upstairs), living room could have better furniture and aesthetics (feels a bit empty and dated).

  • Cszammit from Malta – 14 July 2023 (8/10)

The apartment was nice and comfortable

What could be improved: I didn't like that it was on the 3rd floor, too many stairs. Take note if you're with an elderly person. Besides that it was perfect.
