Celestin Residence Overview

Celestin Residence sits tucked into ul. Straganiarska 19, just a stone’s throw from the cobbled lanes of Gdańsk’s Old Town. I arrived on a breezy Thursday afternoon, the kind of day when the Motława River gleams like a silver ribbon. The check‑in was a quick, almost breezy affair – a friendly receptionist handed me a digital key with a smile, and I was in my room before the city’s chatter could fully set in. Honestly, the staff made you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than a luxury hotel.

The room itself is a cozy 20‑square‑meter haven. I was surprised by the Scandinavian‑inspired décor – clean lines, soft linen, a small but functional kitchenette. The bed was the kind that cradles you into a restful sleep, and the sound of the city’s night‑time hum was muted enough that I could hear my own breathing. I did notice the Wi‑Fi speed lagged a bit during the late‑night hours, but that’s a minor quibble in an otherwise seamless experience. The bathroom had a surprisingly generous shower with a rain head that made me feel like I was on a tropical getaway for a few minutes. The only real critique? The room’s size is modest – but that’s typical for a 4‑star hotel in a historic city center.

Outside, Celestin Residence is a stone’s throw from the bustling Long Market and the iconic Neptune Fountain. I took a leisurely walk to the nearby Złota 3 café, where the aroma of freshly baked pierogi filled the air, and the locals chatted over steaming cups of coffee. The parking situation is pretty decent; there’s a small, free municipal lot right across the street, and if you prefer a car park, a paid facility is just a short walk from the hotel. Noise-wise, everything is reasonable – the city’s nightlife tends to quiet down by 10 p.m., and the hotel’s walls do a good job of muffling the street buzz.

I’ll be honest: the only downside was the slightly cramped kitchen area, but it was adequate for a quick breakfast or a snack. On the upside, the staff’s local knowledge is top‑notch. They pointed me toward the best pierogi spot on Św. Jana Street and even offered a discount at a nearby bike rental shop. The hotel’s proximity to the river means you can take a gentle walk to the waterfront for a sunset view that’s simply breathtaking. If you’re traveling during peak summer season, the area can get lively, but I found the hotel’s own tranquility to be a nice counterbalance. In the quieter winter months, streets are hushed, and the only sound is the occasional gull or the distant clink of glass from the café below.

All in all, Celestin Residence delivers a genuinely authentic Gdańsk experience without the feel of a generic chain. The combination of thoughtful design, friendly service, and proximity to the city’s most beloved spots makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to immerse themselves in the local vibe. If you’re planning a trip to Gdańsk, I’d say, “Sure, it’s got the polish of a 4‑star hotel, but it feels like a second home.”

Early hotels booking in Gdansk requires advance planning during peak summer seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s beautiful beaches and rich maritime culture.

This was our second stay at Celestin Residence, and once again, everything was great! The location in the city center is super convenient, and the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, we couldn’t stay for breakfast this time because we had to leave very early — but last time we did, and the breakfast was absolutely amazing. I strongly recommend this place to anyone visiting Gdańsk!

Perfect quiet location in the center of old town Gdańsk. The building had the perfect balance of modern amenities with old world charm. The wide variety of breakfast buffet options and very helpful staff would encourage us to recommend this lodging to others.
