Browar Gdański by Downtown Apartments Overview

I wandered into Browar Gdański by Downtown Apartments on a rainy afternoon, drawn by the promise of a local brew and the fact that it sits right on Jana Kilińskiego 3d – you know, just a stone’s throw from St. Mary’s Church and the bustling Motława river. The building itself looks like it could be a warehouse from the 1930s, but the lobby is surprisingly warm, with a wooden bar that feels like a cross between a craft beer taproom and a cozy living room. The staff greeted me with a quick, friendly smile and handed me a key card that glows faintly in the dim light – no fuss, no long queues, just a smooth check‑in that makes you feel like you’ve earned a spot in the city’s heart. I could smell the faint aroma of roasted coffee beans and, a few floors up, the subtle scent of hops drifting through the open windows. The city’s hum – the clatter of trams, the chatter from the street cafés – seeps in through the windows, a reminder that I’m right in the middle of Gdańsk’s living pulse.

The room itself is a mix of modern minimalism and classic Polish touches. I mean, the white walls, the crisp linens, the wooden floorboards – they’re all there, but there’s this gentle, earthy undertone from the hand‑woven rug that feels like a hug. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, the pillows a bit too soft at first but just right after a few minutes of adjustment. The bathroom, a sleek alcove, had a rain shower that actually made the showerhead feel like a gentle mist – perfect after a day of walking. I noticed a small, but handy, fridge stocked with bottled water and a handful of local snacks – a thoughtful touch that’s often missing in other city hotels. Noise-wise, the place is pretty decent – the street noise is muffled enough that I can read a book for a couple of hours without hearing the tram wheels outside, though at 10 p.m. the streetlights flicker and the occasional tourist’s laughter creeps in. Parking is a bit of a challenge; the building doesn’t have a dedicated lot, so I ended up using a paid street spot a block away – a bit of a hassle but the city’s street parking is usually free after midnight.

What really stands out is the vibe. The hotel feels like a local’s favorite spot, not a tourist trap. I literally ran into a group of Gdańsk residents in the lobby, sharing a laugh over a plate of pierogi I’d just bought from the corner bakery – the smell of fresh rye bread mingled with the faint hint of a wood stove. The staff is genuinely friendly; one of the front desk clerks recommended a hidden coffee shop on Długa street, only a ten‑minute walk away, and another suggested the best time to catch the sunset over the Motława, which, trust me, is worth the extra five minutes of walking. The hotel’s proximity to the Old Town means you can step out and be surrounded by the medieval charm, yet it’s not so close that you’re constantly surrounded by tourists year‑round. In the summer, the area buzzes with music and laughter, while winter nights are quieter, almost reflective. All in all, Browar Gdański by Downtown Apartments feels like a home base that knows how to blend the city’s hustle with a touch of local comfort. If you’re looking for a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a neighborhood spot, this is it.

Reviews of Browar Gdański by Downtown Apartments

  • Agnieszka from Poland – 11 October 2024 (7/10)

The location was excellent, just a few minutes walk from the train station, the flat was situated on the first floor and spacious unlike many others in the area.

What could be improved: Even though the flat was clean, the floors were not mopped and you could see that in our socks. I requested the mop as there was none in the flat so we could mop ourselves and, that's the best bit, they provided us with one, the third day of our stay, but didn't get us any liquid to mop it with! Just a bucket and a mop! Wow. There were issues with the TV too, apparently guests keep changing the settings so it stops working. Why not get something easier to navigate and use then if you're aware of the issue? We're not that bothered about the telly as we don't even have one at home but when travelling I like to have something to play to my child so if it is advertised make sure it works. One last thing, the information provided by the company stated that there was an indoor play ground for kids in a different block and that you could use it. When I asked how to get it there it turned out the keys that we were provided with did not have a key fob so we could not get to the other block to use the area. The person I was on a chat with said the owner of the property hadn't provided them with the fob. That's ok but why would you state that the guests can use the playground as part of their stay if you don't provide them with the tool to access it?
