BLACK BEAR Overview
BLACK BEAR sits right on Stągiewna 11 2, a stone’s throw from the bustling waterfront and the historic Old Town. As I pulled up, the first thing that hit me was the smell of fresh pierogi wafting from the tiny vendor stall across the street – a taste of local life that you can’t miss. The lobby, with its warm lighting and rugged wooden paneling, instantly felt more like a friend’s cozy living room than a corporate hotel. I’m not one to gush, but the staff checked me in in about ten minutes, no long queue, and they actually handed me a map of the city with a handwritten note: “Don’t miss the bakery on Jagiellońska; it’s a gem.” That little personal touch is what makes staying here feel less like a transaction and more like a welcome.
When I opened my room door, the airy space surprised me – the ceiling was high, the window framed a view of the harbor, and the bed sheets felt like a cloud. The minibar was stocked with local craft beers, and the coffee maker was a high‑grade Breville that actually worked – no burnt espresso, which is a win in my book. The only thing that could be a little better is the bathroom tile; it’s a bit old‑fashioned, but the shower has a solid, good‑pressure spray that makes the morning routine a bit more pleasant. Check‑out was a breeze, but I did have to ask for the extra towels – they’re not automatically provided, so keep that in mind. Parking is free in the driveway right behind the building; I parked my car in the early evening after a day of exploring the Marina, and the space was quiet, no noise from the street traffic.
I spent the rest of my stay wandering the streets of Gdańsk. After a quick stroll down Dluga Street, I popped into the museum of amber in the old town, then headed back to BLACK BEAR for a late‑night coffee. The building’s proximity to the port means you can hear the gentle hum of ships at sea even from the courtyard – a soothing background soundtrack. The hotel’s location really shines during the spring and early summer when the city’s cafés are bustling, but I found the evenings around Stągiewna pretty calm; the only ruckus was the occasional street performer playing a guitar on the pier. All in all, BLACK BEAR feels like a reliable, comfortable home base that lets you soak up the city’s vibe without the fluff of flashy marketing. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience Gdańsk like a local, not just a tourist.

Brilliant location right in the centre.
Apartment was compact, clean and had everything you needed.
Check in was smooth. They message details of how to get into apartment and the codes.
Bed was comfortable and had charging ports.
Felt very safe in the apartments.
What could be improved: They message details of how to get into apartment. It looks quite complicated because you go in via a different entrance and walk across a patio. But once you're there it's mostly straightforward.Charline from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was great, and the size of the room was great.
What could be improved: The pillows were too thin and on there was some local building work nearby which was noisy.Milena from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (9/10)

Decor, location, cleanliness. Hosts are responsive.
What could be improved: Half working AC, blinds. There is no thin privacy blind that allows light but blocks views. Only full privacy one.Robert from Poland – 7 August 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: There was bad smell coming from the sink in the bathroom. But after opening the windows, the smell was gone.
