When I opened my room door, the airy space surprised me – the ceiling was high, the window framed a view of the harbor, and the bed sheets felt like a cloud. The minibar was stocked with local craft beers, and the coffee maker was a high‑grade Breville that actually worked – no burnt espresso, which is a win in my book. The only thing that could be a little better is the bathroom tile; it’s a bit old‑fashioned, but the shower has a solid, good‑pressure spray that makes the morning routine a bit more pleasant. Check‑out was a breeze, but I did have to ask for the extra towels – they’re not automatically provided, so keep that in mind. Parking is free in the driveway right behind the building; I parked my car in the early evening after a day of exploring the Marina, and the space was quiet, no noise from the street traffic.

I spent the rest of my stay wandering the streets of Gdańsk. After a quick stroll down Dluga Street, I popped into the museum of amber in the old town, then headed back to BLACK BEAR for a late‑night coffee. The building’s proximity to the port means you can hear the gentle hum of ships at sea even from the courtyard – a soothing background soundtrack. The hotel’s location really shines during the spring and early summer when the city’s cafés are bustling, but I found the evenings around Stągiewna pretty calm; the only ruckus was the occasional street performer playing a guitar on the pier. All in all, BLACK BEAR feels like a reliable, comfortable home base that lets you soak up the city’s vibe without the fluff of flashy marketing. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking to experience Gdańsk like a local, not just a tourist.

  Brilliant location right in the centre.
  Apartment was compact, clean and had everything you needed.
