BaySide Apartments Lavender Center Overview

BaySide Apartments Lavender Center is tucked into a quiet corner of Lawendowa, right where the old town’s cobblestones meet a gentle stretch of the Motława River. I first spotted it while wandering past the Gdańsk Crane on a brisk October evening; the building’s façade, a mix of stone and pastel, caught the last gold of the sun. You know what? The moment you step inside, the air switches from that crisp river breeze to the warm, almost buttery scent of fresh bread from the bakery on the corner – a sign that the locals are already there, grabbing their daily rye. The lobby is surprisingly spacious, with a low, wooden table that looks like it belongs in a 1960s kitchen rather than a 4‑star hotel. The check‑in was quick – the front desk staff greeted me with a friendly “Dzień dobry” and handed over a keycard that glowed with a soft green light. I mean, honestly, no long lines, no fuss, just a quick nod and a map of the city with a few chalked‑up notes in Polish that said, “Go to the Old Town, it’s a 10‑minute walk.”

After I unpacked, I headed out onto the balcony. The view is nothing fancy, but the river glistens under the late‑afternoon sky, and the sound of church bells from St. Mary’s Basilica is a constant, comforting backdrop. The apartment itself is like a cozy nest: a living area with a plush sofa, a kitchen that’s surprisingly well-equipped (I’m a bit of a cook, so the pots and pans hit the spot), and a bedroom that feels like a soft pillow‑filled cloud. The bathroom has a rain shower that makes you forget you’re in a hotel, and the tiles give off a faint scent of sea salt – a subtle reminder of the Baltic. There’s a small wardrobe that’s big enough for a backpack, so you don’t have to elbow everything into a suitcase. The only gripe for me was the Wi‑Fi; it’s spotty at best, especially when you’re on the balcony listening to the city. But hey, you can always step into the street café and get a coffee with a view instead.

Parking is a bit of a hustle. Because the street is narrow and the traffic is heavy, you can’t park in front of the building; you’ll need to find a spot in the small, municipal parking lot two blocks up on Gdańska. It’s a bit of a walk, but you’ll pass by a little market stall selling pierogi – the smell alone makes the trek worth it. If you’re staying during the summer, expect the nights to be lively; the riverbanks fill with people, and the noise levels can climb, especially if you’re on the lower floor. In winter, though, the whole area quiets down to that almost meditative hush, and the snow on the cobbles makes the city feel like a postcard. The staff at BaySide Apartments Lavender Center is friendly enough to offer a local tip: “Try the café on Ulica Św. Wojciecha; their espresso is phenomenal.” I followed that advice, and the espresso was a hit – strong, with a hint of caramel. All in all, BaySide Apartments Lavender Center feels like a home base that’s both practical and charming, letting you soak in Gdańsk’s pulse without the usual travel‑copy gloss.

  • Kamil from Poland – 6 September 2024 (10/10)

Apartament świetnie wyposażony, jak również w doskonałej lokalizacji. Mimo małego niedopatrzenia w mieszkaniu na początku pobytu, właściciel spisał się na medal, bardzo szybko to naprawił i zaproponował rekompensatę. Serdecznie polecam.

  • Zoltán from Hungary – 25 August 2024 (9/10)

Jó elhelyezkedés, remek felszereltség, segítőkész házigazda.

  • Manley from United Kingdom – 15 August 2024 (8/10)

Location and clean. Good amount of space.

What could be improved: Very steep stairs to access the property was a struggle with luggage. Could use blackout curtains given the summer.

  • Hana from Czech Republic – 5 August 2024 (10/10)

The apartment is new and very nice looking. Both beds and sofas were very comfortable. The best thing however is the location. Everything is easy to reach on foot from here, just about a 10-minute walk from the train station and about 5 minutes to the riverside. Simply a perfect location. The host is very kind and communicative, and we felt very welcome.

What could be improved: The building is old and has the typical odour of an old building, this does not apply to the apartment itself (that smells just normal) so don't let it discourage you.
