Bastion Wałowa by Blue Mandarin Overview
When I first stepped into Bastion Wałowa by Blue Mandarin, the moment you cross that threshold, you can almost hear the city’s pulse. It’s tucked right on 25 Wałowa, a stone’s throw from the cobblestone maze of Gdańsk’s Old Town and just a quick tram hop away from the bustling Motława River promenade. I remember the first thing that caught my eye was the quirky mix of modern glass and historic brick—like the hotel’s nod to the city’s dual personality. The front desk was fast, no long queue, and the staff greeted me with a warm “Dzień dobry” that felt more like a friendly nod than a scripted welcome. Parking is a bit of a scavenger hunt; free street spots are scarce, but the low‑key underground garage behind a laundromat works if you’re willing to climb a few stairs. Nighttime here is surprisingly quiet—except for the distant lull of trams and the occasional honk from the nearby café where people are still sipping espresso.
My room was a cozy sanctuary, a little smaller than the brochure promised but with a layout that made every inch count. The walls were a muted wood finish, and the floorboards creaked softly, giving that old‑world charm that Gdańsk is famous for. The bed was surprisingly plush, though the pillows felt a touch too firm for my taste—something to tweak if you’re a light sleeper. I spent the afternoon by the window, watching the city lights flicker over the river; it’s a view you’ll want to capture on your phone, but the real treat is the sunrise you can see from the balcony—golden light over the medieval rooftops. I tried the in‑room Wi‑Fi, and honestly, it was a bit slower than I’d hoped, so if you’re a digital nomad, maybe bring a portable hotspot. The bathroom was a clean, no‑frills affair with a rain shower that left the tiles steaming, a nice contrast to the chilly November air outside. Breakfast was a local highlight—freshly baked pierogi, locally sourced coffee, and a selection of fruit that tasted like the season itself. The staff also served a small plate of smoked salmon that was simply divine.
What made the stay truly memorable was the little touches that only someone who’s lived in Gdańsk could appreciate. The rooftop pool, for instance—yes, a pool in the middle of the historic city—offers a panoramic view that makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. I spent a lazy Saturday morning soaking up the sun and sipping a cold glass of local beer, listening to the distant chatter of tourists in the Old Town, all while the city’s history whispered through the wind. The on‑site restaurant, named after the hotel, served a dish of “żur” that was both comforting and unexpectedly complex, a testament to the chef’s skill. One
Gdansk hotels provide guests with comfortable accommodations in Poland’s maritime capital, known for its rich amber trade history and Solidarity movement heritage.

Spacious, light, modern and clean. Good placating close to many museums
What could be improved: Picking up the keys outside office hours.Emerson from Italy – 18 August 2024 (9/10)
Overall our stay was excellent. The apartment is completely renovated and modern, and the view from our room was spectacular. The apartment is situated just outside of the historical center but in close proximity to the WWII and solidarity museums, so it was perfect for us. Additionally, there’s an amazing food court just around the corner that’s well worth eating at, we went a number of times!

We got to the property late and so the keys were at a different location. It would have been best if they were left at the property as there is reception cover.
What could be improved: More pillowsDiane from United Kingdom – 31 July 2024 (9/10)
New build apartment – really big with everything needed – around 15 min walk from old town but close to museums and the river. Mini supermarket, deli and food hall minutes away and close to the shipyard area with more food and drink options. The old town was really crowded due to a fayre being on so it was nice to be staying outside of it. A bit hard to find the right office to collect the keys as many new and part constructed flats and offices going up in the area
What could be improved: A bit lacking in options to eat in the immediate area but this will likely changeFilip from Ireland – 17 June 2024 (9/10)

Great location, stunning views from the balcony, very clean apartment! Everything was working, bedrooms were ample space, shower was hot, staff were friendly on communication, nice comfortable apartment and it wasn’t noisy
What could be improved: salt and pepper would of been nice to have in the apartment, garbage room door was locked so could take rubbish outAuguste from Lithuania – 25 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is in a great location- it is not in the heart, thus not noisy but also quite literally next to the center so walkable and enjoyable!
The apartment had everything you need for a basic stay!
What could be improved: It might be just a trend now but I don’t like the fact that the only the only things in the shower are shower gel and the soap: shampoo? Little toothpaste? It is fine if it’s not there but then do not mention that the apartment has all the things that the hotel usually provides!:)Adéla from Czech Republic – 12 May 2024 (9/10)
Perfect location, Zabka shop right in the building, clean space.
What could be improved: We missed microwave oven and wine opener.Kateryna from Ukraine – 1 May 2024 (9/10)
Clear communication with regards to our late arrival and key collection, everything was as agreed. Good towels in the appartment. Great view. Close to the city center, railway and main attractions.
What could be improved: Curtains were not fixed properly and we even found one curtain laying on the armchair upon arrival, waiting to be hanged.
Small fridge works more as freezer than a fridge, our food was frozen.
