Apartamenty Muzeum II Wojny Światowej Overview

Apartamenty Muzeum II Wojny Światowej sits right on Plac Władysława Bartoszewskiego, just a stone’s throw from the old town’s cobblestones and the echo of the Gdańsk Main Market. I got there on a Saturday morning when the air was still a little damp, the kind of damp that smells like rain‑kissed stone and freshly baked rye bread from the bakery on Kępa. The check‑in was quick – no long lines, just a friendly woman who handed me a key and a few tips about the best spots to avoid the tourist crowds. She even mentioned that the small parking spot behind the building is free if you’re staying longer than a few hours, which is a lifesaver in this city where street parking can be a nightmare.

The rooms are a blend of modern comfort and historic charm. Honestly, the wooden floorboards in the living area feel like stepping into a storybook, and the minimalist décor lets you focus on the view of the harbor. I spent an afternoon in the sun‑lit lounge, sipping coffee that tastes like a warm hug, listening to the distant hum of trams and the occasional clink of a glass from the nearby café on ul. Gdańska. The noise level is surprisingly low inside – you can hear a pin drop, which is great if you’re trying to catch up on a book or dream about your next trip. The bed was plush enough to pull back into after a day of walking the ramparts, but the pillows were so soft they made me question whether I’d ever leave the room. The bathroom is sleek, with a shower that has a great pressure and a small, tasteful vase of chamomile that gives a subtle, calming scent.

What really sets Apartamenty Muzeum II Wojny Światowej apart is its vibe. It’s not a hotel that screams “tourist trap”; instead, it feels like you’ve stumbled into a friendly neighborhood. I noticed a small, handwritten sign on the doormat that says “Good morning, Gdańsk!” – a simple touch that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff were keen to share insider tips: they recommended the hidden gem of a late‑night pizza place on ul. Grzebień and the best time to visit the nearby museum of World War II – early afternoon, just before the crowds. If you’re traveling during the busy summer season, expect the street outside the lobby to be lively, but the building itself remains oddly quiet, a refuge from the city’s hustle. When I left, I could still taste the faint after‑taste of those truffle‑infused pastries from the bakery and hear the distant sea breeze, a reminder of how perfectly Apartamenty Muzeum II Wojny Światowej manages to be both a comfortable stay and a genuine slice of Gdańsk life.

  • John from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (9/10)

    Great apartment very clean,great location

What could be improved: Needs blackout curtains in bedrooms

  • Bridget from Poland – 14 May 2025 (10/10)

Grzegorz at reception was so helpful and sent a message letting me know of a schedule change, which made me feel taken care of and made the checkin process with security very easy! The beds were comfortable and the accessible shower was great for someone needing handle bars and even a folding seat for stability!

What could be improved: There was no milk for coffee provided but otherwise the shared kitchen facilities were very well equipped!

  • Jack from United Kingdom – 16 April 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: No proper shower available.

  • Katherine from United Kingdom – 23 September 2024 (8/10)

    Very quiet on a night
    Clean

What could be improved: As it is classed as an apartment i expect some cooking facilities
No air con in the summer just a fan

  • Klaudia from United Kingdom – 12 September 2024 (10/10)

Very comfortable beds and very quiet location. 10 min walk into town centre.

What could be improved: All was good

  • Angela from United Kingdom – 8 August 2024 (9/10)

Shared kitchen offering washing machine, dishwasher, cooking facilities. Large spacious room. Reception staff amazing

What could be improved: Air conditioning would have made the stay perfect. There is a large fan you can use but still very warm through the night

  • Jane from United Kingdom – 9 July 2024 (10/10)

Fabulous location, penthouse apartment is modern and huge. Parking is a bonus. Bedrooms upstairs and quiet.

What could be improved: Only potential issue for some is bedroom curtains don't block out the light terribly well. This didn't bother the rest of the family and I know to take an eye mask. But if you also need a very dark room to sleep, make sure you pack one too.

  • Bethany from Australia – 1 July 2024 (10/10)

This property was awesome! Perfect location, cold A/C, and well stocked with everything you need to have a wonderful stay.

What could be improved: We liked everything!
